The food here is almost guaranteed to be inconsistent- it's probably because they check white people's notes every week to change their food. And mind you I've given this place 3 chances to prove me wrong because of how much my white friends rave about it, and every time the food was as awful as the last. Since I don't have pictures for the other two times, I'll just talk about my latest experience here. The calamari was nauseatingly greasy, and they exacerbated it with their sweet-like-candy mayo sauce. It was sweeter than their sticky rice w mango. If I wanted a sugar crash, I'd just go get some Krispe Cream, not Thai food. Their (Thai hot) Pad ga phong was decently spicy, which is very rare to find in this town because most places just avoid spicy food in general (probably because there's no public demand), but it gave me an upset stomach for the past two days (and I know it was the cause because I rarely have stomach issues having tried many different cuisines, eat spicy food frequently, and got it just half a day after only eating their food.) So a round of applause for this place for achieving things not even Buffalo Wild Wings' notoriously spicy Blazin' Knock out couldn't achieve despite many attempts. In fact, Pepto Bismo should pay this place a loyalty because it often solves my stomach issues very quickly, but not at this place. Anyway, the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because it's probably the only place in Gainesville where you could find sticky rice with mango. And it's the only consistently good dish you could find here. Anyway, come to this place if you want some white people's Thai food but do not expect anything...
Read moreVery very rude waitress. She was a south Asian woman with her black hair tied up in a bun wearing black rimmed glasses and three sets of ear piercings. She was wearing a brown cardigan over a yellow T-shirt. When entering the restaurant we were not greeted, and she was not welcoming whatsoever. We attempted many times to converse with her to no avail. Once seating us, we were not asked about what we would like to drink. We had to further request her on what we wanted to order. Not once did she smile even after further attempts of conversation. She then brings the drinks while slamming the tray on the table. We then requested for some limes and lemons, and instead of responding, she ignored us and walked away when confronted about this behavior, she further states that this is the way that she is and that she treats us like she treated every other customer and we are not something special and that she is not a robot. She then goes on to state “do you want your food or do you want to leave?” We then walked out of the restaurant due to her unacceptable behavior. She lost our business and our friends and families business forever, we will never be setting foot into that restaurant. That led us to the restaurant next door Momo Yaki where we had excellent food and excellent customer service. The staff was very courteous and polite! Shoutout to...
Read moreOut of all my Asian restaurants I eat at, This BY FAR is my favorite. It makes chopsticks down the road look horrible(even though chopsticks has a bigger menu). The restaraunt #1 is clean and well maintained. It is outdated, but I'll take outdated over dirty any day. The employees are easy to understand and are there to serve you! And best for last, the food is amazing. The chicken does not have a fake fatty texture that a lot of other places has. Its actual chicken breast. I have never had anything bad here and I go very often. I used to do takeout, but upon actually eating here, you get a salad with your meal when dining in. The bathroom are very clean. My favorite server always takes care of me and chats it up which I totally don't mind because I'm a chatty cathy. Don't let the looks on the outside or location deceive you. Try this place, you wont want anywhere else. Also just a heads up they let you adjust the amount of spice you want per each entree and hot is REALLY hot. I like spicy and sometimes even the medium is too hot. I was feeling frisky one day and did hot instead of medium and could barely eat because I was so spicy and counldn't breathe lol. The Pad Thai, and all the soups are very good. The spring rolls and dumplings are...
