If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. I had a work obligation at the convention center so this was the hotel that was booked for us. I arrived there on Wednesday May 28th and checked out on Saturday May 31st. On Wednesday we went out to dinner and I THANKFULLY took all of my cards (debit, credit, license, etc) out of my lululemon wristlet and moved them into the purse I was carrying that night. I left my wristlet which had my car key, apartment key, and mail key on it in the room. When we returned from dinner my keys were still there and I went ahead and went to bed. The next day I packed my work bag and left for the convention center. Mind you, we walked there and back each day so I never needed my car keys. I thought they were safe in the room because why would I go anywhere where I thought someone would steal from me. On Friday morning I went to look for my keys because I needed to run to a store nearby but not in walking distance. I notice that my keys are missing. Before panicking I turned the room inside out looking for them but couldn’t find them anywhere (but I did find ferrero rocher chocolate underneath my bed which was from the person who stayed there before me…clearly the rooms are not being throughly cleaned either.). I went to the front desk and asked if keys had been turned in and they said no. At that point I decided to check the room one more time because maybe I over looked them. I still did not find them so I called housekeeping and this is when I realized, someone stole them from me. The lady was the phone was EXTREMELY rude and in a rush to hang up. She said that she didn’t have my keys and when I asked her if she could talk to laundry she sighed and said she would call me right back. She never called. I went back to the front desk and he called housekeeping and gave me the same story. He claimed they went through all the laundry and they didn’t have them. All of the employees gaslit me into thinking I never had my keys at the hotel and perhaps I dropped them on the way in…this is AFTER I explained that I took my cards out in the room so there was no way I dropped the keys anywhere. I ended up filing a report with security and asked if I could see the camera footage from our hallways or elevator and was told they’re no cameras conveniently on that hall. I asked if they could see which employees swiped into my room but they said they couldn’t see that info. I don’t buy it. I told everyone that I did not care about the wristlet and that I just wanted my keys yet they all moved with no urgency and continued to gaslight me. I ended up having to pay almost $1,000 for new keys because all of my keys needed to be reprogrammed since my apartment key is electronic and my car is push to start with no real key. I was and still am extremely disappointed that nothing was done about this prior to me spending that much money. I checked out on the 31st around 8am and around 7:30pm I get a phone call saying that my wristlet was magically found in laundry. I said that I had already spent a large amount of money to get new keys and that my old keys no longer work now and that I wanted to be reimbursed for this entire situation that could’ve been avoided had someone been honest from the start. Fast forward to today a WEEK later and nothings been done. Every time I call the hotel I’m transferred from one person to the next and promised that I’d receive phone calls back on how they can make this situation right and nothings been done. I spoke with the head of hotel security today and he said he had no idea what I was talking about. I want answers, a solution, and above everything else accountability for everyone involved in this scheme. Unfortunately, I learned after this situation that this hotel is notorious for employees stealing from customers so please BEWARE when you’re booking your reservation. The San Luis Resort does NOT care about its customers and I fear nothing will be done about my property being...

Read moreWe made the 5+ hour drive down from Dallas and stayed here the night before a cruise that sailed out of Galveston the week of 1/26 - 2/2/24. We took advantage of valet parking at the hotel and at only $34 a day, it sounded like a much better idea than leaving the car in a self-park open lot left totally vulnerable to the elements. Convenience and peace of mind go a long way.
We were greeted by two courteous, professional, friendly, and attentive young men - Marcus and Diego - when we drove up to Valet. We mentioned it was our first time staying at this property, so he guided us and made sure we knew where we needed to go. The Resort is delightfully adorned with a modern, upscale feel. There is so much to do and there's even a spa. May need to do that next time when we go on a cruise again but stay for two nights instead of one.
We were checked in by Jasmyne and were told that our room was not yet ready and that I would receive a text message as soon as it was available(we arrived shortly after 3PM). About 20 minutes later, there appeared to be an issue with the room, so we were promptly relocated the the 14th Floor and given a coupon for the cup+cone and access to Continental Breakfast one floor up. The room was gorgeous. Facing the ocean just as advertised on the VIP Floor with Two Queen Beds. Very comfortable and easily The BEST hot water I have ever experienced in a hotel shower!
The dinner at Blake's Bistro was wonderful. Hostess Georgia greeted us and showed us to our table. Ella was our sweet and attentive server and she walked us through the menu and made suggestions. Had the Dragonfruit Blueberry Punch for a Mocktail and, for the entrée, opted for the Chicken and Rice soup and Asian Chicken Salad. Both excellent! Homemade Banana Cream Pie for Dessert. Get it! Trust me on that one. Even the whipped cream is made from scratch, I'm told. I even spoke to whom I believe to be a manager at the hostess desk after our meal. I didn't catch his name, but he was visiting tables and making sure guests had what they needed. For a first time patron, this was a great first impression and experience. I will choose this Resort again the next time we are here for a Cruise.
I called and spoke with Sam a week before our one night stay and she made sure I was booked on the 9:15 AM Cruise Shuttle to the Port as well as Long-Term Valet Parking for the duration of the cruise.
Upon check-out from the Hotel the next morning, one of the front desk staff - Timothy - assisted us and printed out the room incidentals and charges to make sure everything was correct. Aside from an incorrect address(which was corrected upon check-out), everything seemed to be fine. Timothy said he didn't like the way one of the charges looked and that he was going to double check it with his Manager. I explained to them that I needed to put the charge on a different credit card (because I was going on a cruise and needed to utilize the card I had originally used for the Hotel Reservation for onboard purchases) and it was all cleared up. Not the fault of San Luis - next time, I will plan better so I don't have to change the credit card associated with the Hotel Reservation.
When we returned to the Port of Galveston on February 2nd, we had facial recognition at customs, retrieved our luggage, and were out of the terminal building within 10 minutes. We then called an Uber and were back at the Hotel Valet with the blue ticket in hand to retrieve our vehicle by 9:55AM and started the 5+ hour drive back to Dallas. From the efficiency and ease of check-in to the Hotel on January 25th, check-out on February 2nd, to the cleanliness of the room, to the Valet Parking and the atmosphere of the Resort itself, we would feel very comfortable returning to San Luis for our next pre-cruise stay. Special thanks to Sam, Marcus, Diego, Jasmyne, Georgia, Ella, and Timothy. See you in January 2026 if not...
