This place would not be the same without the Scottish chap. Whatever they’re paying him I guarantee it’s not enough. He’s incredibly friendly, kind, and accommodating. We came here for the historic train ride and the location of the hotel was ideal and the breakfast was well stocked. Rooms were clean, but my main concern is that the door wouldn’t lock and the pillows were flat. The flat pillows were uncomfortable, but the main thing is that hotel doors should be able to lock, cause that is a HUGE safety issue. The Scottish man tried to help best he could, but there’s only so much you can do when it’s a mechanism issue with the door. I think whoever owns or manages the hotel need to invest in finding a solution to the rooms that have glitchy doors, and also get new pillows (pillows aren’t that expensive and housekeeping should fluff them between guests to keep them from becoming hard flaccid pancakes). Also please get vending machines that work because there is nothing open late nearby and if you wake up in the middle of the night starving and thirsty you’re kinda screwed. It could also be beneficial to fix the hot tub and sauna cause it seems like a lot of complaints come from those amenities being unavailable for the past few months. There were plenty of guests during what considerably seems to be more of the off season so I think it’s reasonable to invest some money back into your hotel. If it weren’t for the Scottish gentleman I would have given...
Read moreGreat service and a great military discount was offered. The First Lady we talked to was beyond nice and sweet the Second one at first wanted to charge us again but then she saw that we did in fact pay. I had to ask a third lady were the hospital was because my daughter had an asthma attack due to their pool/ hot tub being extremely chlorinated. Our room was clean, beds were springy and hard, bathroom was decent but clean, there was clearly water damage in the room at one point you could see on the ceiling, room smelt musty, and the light between both beds had some sort of wiring issue if you bumped it it would turn off. The sauna was broken. Dogs were everywhere which I really liked and kids to. There was a gentleman who wouldn’t stop staring at my girls in the pool because there’s windows all around it near the elevator which made us very uncomfortable so I made eye contact and stared back I believe the front desk was told by someone who was with us. The location was in between tilamook and rock away which was phenomenal there was like no food options near by. The breakfast was decent which it had gluten free and dairy free option but it’s a small town so we understand however allergens have become very very prevalent these days. I would...
Read moreMy family and I stayed for 2 nights in July of 2018 (regrettably). So many things were undesirable. A lot of other things were very pleasant. My mom booked this hotel specifically for the pool and hot tub, something we look forward to while on vacation. We arrived and were told the pool and hot tub have been CLOSED FOR MONTHS due to health inspector issues. And that it would be closed indefinitely. Was this posted on their website? Did we receive a message about this before we came? No. The room smelled horribly of carpet glue, and chemicals due to a recent remodel. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights. The smell never went away. We weren't able to open a window to air it out. The manager was nowhere to be found for the 3 days we were there. The first day she walking her dog, the second day she had gone home early, the third day she just wasn't there. We made multiple attempts to be at the front desk during her hours, which are 7am-3pm. Every time, she was gone during her hours. She left her employees to deal with complaints from customers. However, the breakfast was nice, good variety, lovely meal for a continental breakfast.
All in all, I would not recommend this hotel. Call ahead, people. Did not...
