I have been moored at the port for three years and I have avoided GM after experiencing the service early on. You can typically expect some thing between neglect to annoyance from the staff.
However today was flat out contempt. I arrived at the fuel dock from my slip a around 6:45am to await them opening. My boat is fairly long and I didn't want to hinder the boats launching as it was going to be a nice day. The clerk working there came down the gang plank and immediately accused me of trespassing. I told her i was hoping to buy fuel and she then again told me that the gang plank was private property and she saw me walk down it. I tried to explain that I had gotten there early from my slip and had gone up to use the public restroom. She cut me off and told me I should have used the public gang plank and walked around. I told her, my mistake. She then accused me of having my boat there overnight I again told her that I had come from my moorage. I told her I needed 110 gallons, to which she groaned. After fueling she again reminded me that I was trespassing by being there early and asked again if the boat had been there over night. I again told that I hadn't and pointed out that I have been moored year around in the harbor for three years. I have seen her drive around my boat at least ten times last year alone. After taking my $450.00 for fuel she again reminded me that this was a private dock and had better not trespass again.
I will point out that all of this was on a spring Wednesday with nobody else in sight. There was no line, there was no other boats on the dock, there was no reason for the utter contempt. After fishing I thought I would go back and try and apologize for obviously rubbing her the wrong way. She then refused my apology!
I have never written a negative review and I seriously doubt ownership cares. But this is a small marina and it would be really nice f we had a decent establishment to service it. I will make sure I refuel on the weekends at FishPeople...
Read moreSUCH A GREAT EXPERIENCE! We came to the marina today to go crabbing in the bay and were so very grateful for the impeccable customer service from the owner, Jeff, as well as Billy (sp?) who checked us in. They were so patient and kind in answering all of our questions and their instructions and advice were perfect. There were 4 of us (including 2 senior citizens) and we purchased 2 annual licenses and didn't catch the maximum but PLENTY to feed us all. No shortage of huge crabs to be caught. Get your bait there, don't bring it. They've got everything covered. ALSO! We came to the marina from Portland and there was no "us vs. them" feeling. We were never treated poorly for not knowing about crabbing/fishing/boating. They seemed glad to see us! You definitely want to make reservations because they're busy but also keep in mind that they run their business with integrity. They won't let you go out into the bay if conditions are not favorable or if you're not going to catch anything. Sounds like some of the negative reviews have been disappointed about that but they're just not willing to take your money if you're not going to reap any benefits (which makes sense to me!). I would definitely recommend this for a day trip from the Portland area and to all levels of experience. Fantastic...
Read moreI think it's really hard to find a natural fishing village on the Oregon coast, an old natural fishing village. This is perhaps one of the last remaining places where you can dock on the marina head out on the water and go out and go crabbing salmon halibut. It could be really anything that you wanted to to go fish but the thing is is that these places are disappearing fast and so you should take advantage of of looking at Garibaldi because Garibaldi is the most amazing place on Earth. You can't go wrong. The town is amazing. There's a lot of places to eat bars places to park your RV. Launch your boat. Get provisions and the locals are amazing. They are really good people. They're salt of the earth and really good, hard-working fishing Marina people. So if you really want to stay in something that's an authentic fishing village, this is the...
