My fellow locals..Be careful! If you arrive early evening for dinner - with open signs- you may be asked to go somewhere else! That's what happened to us. I rude, snotty mouth little bartender came out - with a what-do-YOU want attitude. We said we were waiting for another couple and wanted to eat in the front dining area. We asked if it is was open and she responded - "the open sign is on isn't it? You'll have to wait a long time but whatever " Eventually she just stood there with her hands pointing to the door - "just go somewhere else. I don't want to be bothered to serve you " NO JOKE" wow. Here's the sad part - we aren't tourists. We live here! And chose to go there because it had been looking so empty - we felt sorry for them! No more! The snotty little bartender must own the place or related to someone who does. Honestly we as residents need to stop going there period. There are lots of other options. I've told this experience to so many who live here and turns out we aren't alone. The owner also owns the lakeside in rockaway which should be avoided too. They apparently are having personnel issues. Too sad. After this horrific experience that is NOT just us, these businesses do NOT deserve our hard earned money. I tried for weeks to report this to ownership. No "luck." Hope the ownership reads this - deeply apologizes to our community and finds a new job for thar snotty little bartender - without any customer contact. We keep telling the experience. Word of mouth is powerful. And we were shocked to hear of so many other terrible experiences. Ownership - your $$ in on the line. Do something positive. UPDATE: "ownership" responded with "concern". FYI.. there is NO way to respond directly to this person...so...heres what i can tell you. Little (short - small size) blonde (long) bartender definitely would not give me her name. Super snotty. Hopefully you dont have many people that match this description. This happened a couple of months ago. I spent weeks trying to get ahold of ownership - employees supposedly took my name and contact. It sounds like you didn't get my multiple attempts at messages - looks like you have a LOT of problems. Also - if the dining room IS open - leave the lights on! When we were there the reason we asked if we could eat in the dining room was because the lights were off! Omg. Also. The couple we were waiting for arrived AS she was deciding she didn't want to be bothered. So they were witnesses to her horrible behavior. You definitely more and higher quality personnel. If the bartender can't handle the dining room - hire more help OR close the place. With these experiences you won't be in business long. Winter is coming. People who live here and support you thru the winter! Sheesh. Give me a phone number. I'm happy to talk to you directly or some other way to meet with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood at its best mediocre at its worst so far as I've seen. Truly depends on the time of day or day of the week, depends on who's cooking. The same item ordered on two different days. Two different chefs. Two different meals completely came out of the kitchen. Chef questions certain combinations of food that you might order. I don't believe, as a customer or reviewer, that it's the chef chef's position to balk at a customer not wanting an item that's listed as included on the ordered dish, for instance, tomato on a cheeseburger, or no tomato on a cheeseburger. Nor should there be an issue with adding something such as onions to a club sandwich! Yet, here we are. Of four separate orders at the restaurant. One was exceptional. One was blase', two were just okay. Each time I've been, the restaurant is predominantly empty with what appears to be a regular customer in a booth elsewhere in the restaurant. Each time should have been at the peak of meal time. Of course this is Garibaldi. So maybe one person in the restaurant at peak at 2:00 two booths used at peak is normal but it still seemed a little odd to me. Finding parking is interesting. Finding the entry door is interesting. Both should be more obvious. The place appears to be sanitary- clean, but it doesn't feel CLEAN - clean. If you choose to eat here you'd best have time on your hands, as wait-service has an emphasis on the word wait, You are unlikely to have a waitress return to your table for additional items or to check on you more than passing "everything okay here" before breezing off to the kitchen or outside for an extended smoke. Even when you're looking for your tab, if it hasn't been dropped at your table unceremoniously, a trip to the bar and a glance into the kitchen indicates that there is nobody inside the restaurant that works there when you need them. I assume there's a place where they'll go to smoke a cigarette once they have served a plate of food. So you ask why did I go back? Well that first Time there, the burger, the Parkside, was exceptional. Nothing else about the visit was, but that burger was. We decided to give it another try. The second was a good lunch but not as good as the first and we assumed it to be an off day. The third and fourth dishes were just not right. Just not worth the money. Just it's not worth the wait. Just not worth the drive. Just not worth it. Too bad too because Garibaldi is not exactly overflowing with high quality places to eat. And I hate to say this, but dairy Queen would have been about the same level of quality as the last two, except that it's what you would have expected at dairy Queen and it would have been faster. The Parkside unfortunately will probably be a pass in the future. There are a couple other places to try in Garibaldi before you sign the entire city off as far...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are just two seniors, traveling and being tourists. We look for good service, cleanliness, and of course good eats. We had just completed a marvelous time on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad and were looking for a late afternoon meal that would be our final meal of the day. After looking online at several options, it appeared that Parkside would be able to provide what we wanted, I was mistaken. I should have read the red flags and never even sat down, but should have excused ourselves and continued our search. We were greeted and seated immediately, as at 3:30pm the restaurant was completely empty. Although the bar was seeing lots of business. Even at 3:30 a good restaurant in a high tourist town should see some level of interest on the eatery side. When we left at 4:15(could not get out fast enough), there had only been one other customer, which got seated to the booth right next to us?
Second flag after the emptiness was the filthiness. I am not one to use strong inflammatory words, and am usually not very observant, as a man, of my surroundings. So for me to say filthy, means alot. We had to bypass the first 3 booths due to not being clean and ready for use. The floor was atrociously obvious. Food and debris all the way from entry to our booth and extended beyond our booth.
Monyika was kind and attentive, throughout our meal. Our complaint related to service? Monyika, the cook, a delivery guy and the receptionist stood within just a few feet of us during our entire stay, speaking in loud voices. Their conversations consisted of many personal and inane comments. Conversations among coworkers should be in hushed and set apart settings. I get being so bored/slow that you fill the time with conversations, but not in front of your quests.
Finally the food. My Captains Platter had two redeeming parts. The scallops and the Coconut Shrimp. Once i scrapped the batter off the scallops i enjoyed those 4 and the 4 shrimp, so for $34 my meal was way overpriced. The clams, fries, and fish were not edible. Ditto goes for my brides Fish and Chips. She took two bites of the fish and left the other two pieces untouched. The fish were tough and "chewy". Out of a need to fill the hunger pangs, she ate about half of the "worst fries ever" soaked in lots of dip. Her green salad was very sad and only took 3 bites.
In conclusion, our $65.26 tab stung, alot! I am hoping that our time spent with Parkside was a severe anomaly on a slow Wednesday and that they will seek to use this review as...
