My rating would have been lower had it not been for the fill-in managers. I stayed at this hotel last Friday.
My room, while it looked clean on the outside, was not thoroughly clean. Upon pulling back the covers, I discovered two long hairs on it. Ewww. The toilet did not flush well, and there was a weird odor, like the bathroom was not thoroughly clean. Also, the fridge made a clicking noise, and come to find out it was broken, and there was water that had leaked inside from the freezer section, not remaining cold, so all this nasty water spilled out.
The elevator felt unsafe and old. Also, you can base the price of the hotel on the type of people who stay at the hotel do not respect the property. I found foul language scratched on the inside of the elevator door. Looks like it has been there a while; management should see to it that it gets painted or scraped off.
I was surprised by the hotel of that size; it only had one cleaning person, and that cleaning person spoke hardly any English. You could tell that even the management struggled, and it was apparent that he kept lying to his managers about cleaning rooms.
Mattresses are old and barely have any support.
Walls are paper-thin, and you can hear everything!
AC was annoying; it was too loud, so I found myself turning it off. Luckily, it was cool enough outside that I did not need the AC.
Surprisingly, it is quiet by 10:00 pm.
I was surprised to see the management (mother and son) dressed so casually, in t-shirts, shorts, and leggings, and for shoes, they had on slides and slippers. Hardly professional attire. However, I learned that they were called in to fill in for an emergency from Missouri, due to the manager of the Savannah location needing emergency surgery the night before, and they had only just arrived on site. They said it was difficult learning a whole new system, and dealing with a team that was being poorly managed, and who were taking advantage of the system. I honestly believed them because the cleaning guy lied to the management, saying certain rooms were ready, and when they switched me out of the room that had the hairs in the bed, the room they sent me to was not clean by any means; it was a wreck. Thankfully, the son/assistant manager checked on another room for me and ensured that it was clean to their standards. It was indeed clean. So, to the management who filled in, thank you! I really appreciate all that you did to ensure my stay was pleasant despite all...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed here for four nights in October 2024. We wanted something budget-friendly where we could have two beds and breakfast included. This seemed like a great deal. But, you really do get what you pay for.|Pros:|-Front desk staff are fantastic and super helpful! Peter was especially great checking us in and a couple times when we had issues.|-Beds are comfy, if a bit high.|-We loved the shower that was fully enclosed as opposed to the stupid half-wall things you see in most hotels these days.|-The location was nice -- right off I-95 and only about 25 minutes into downtown Savannah. Plus, it was a quiet area.||Cons:|-They seem to still be renovating and there are some issues there. |-The first room we had (312) had a leaky toilet, so they got us moved to the room next door (314 -- Thanks, Peter!).|-The air conditioner broke overnight on our first night, but we didn't really notice until we got back that day. We called the front desk and Peter came with a maintenance guy and they got it working again. However, it stayed stuck on 60 degrees for the rest of our stay, which was a little chilly...but better that than hot. And, we preferred not to have to repack and move rooms again.|-Even though we liked the spaciousness and enclosed nature of the shower, the tile had seen better days and could use with a refresh, though it was clean.|-There were no towel racks or hooks anywhere in the bathroom except for one underneath the sink for hand towels. Also, there was no toilet paper holder on the wall, so it was just sitting on the back of the toilet.|-Some of the towels and one of the duvets had stains on them (like old, set-in stains that weren't too concerning, but they really should update the linens).|-The breakfast was abysmal. I had a bagel, and it was incredibly stale. There also wasn't any cream cheese for the bagels, which was odd. They only have two cereal choices, and based on the length of time the bagels had been sitting out, I wouldn't trust the pancake mix or the other items. We ate at McDonald's down the road instead.||Hopefully, they'll get things running smoother as they finish the renovations and Choice Hotels fully takes over. But, as it is now, I wouldn't stay...
Read moreI’ll start with this: Trust the lower star reviews. I’m not sure how there are so many 4/5 star reviews unless they are fake.
For the price point you can get a nicer room elsewhere ( we did last week at the beginning of our trip for less money )
#1 - Ms. V (that’s the only name she would give me) was less than friendly upon check in & checkout. When leaving, not a word was spoken by her, no asking how the stay was or anything. I assume she already knew the answer. 😳
The walls are PAPER THIN. We could hear people in the halls and doors slamming well after 2am and we attempted to go to sleep at 8:30 😵💫
Now that brings us to the room.
The other reviews stating they just painted over filth are 100% correct. NASTY. Didn’t look like hose keeping had wiped anything down. Looked like greasy food smudges on the tv and table.
The air vent in the bathroom not secured to the ceiling and the shower was disgusting (we couldn’t shower) mold everywhere! And they just kilted the floor of the shower to cover up how nasty that was.
The only clean place of this hotel is the lobby. I feel taken advantage of by the misleading pictures they have posted in conjunction with what I believe are fake reviews.
We would have left last night and got our money back if we weren’t exhausted from driving and my daughter didn’t have a stomach ache.
My pictures are time stamped upon my arrival. I even went as far as taking a video of the condition of how we left the room in the same condition we left it as I feel these are the type of people to try to claim damages when there weren’t any.
Find somewhere else to stay for the price point- this is comparable...
