I have stayed here many times when I am in town for work. When I stayed here 2/27 it was horrible. I checked in at 3 because I had already been working 10 hours at that point. Got to my room and the key didn't work. Went to the front desk and told them the key reader was flashing green and red and the key didn't work so I thought the batteries needed to be changed. The lady told me to pull up on the handle instead of pushing down. Not sure how that helps when the key can't be read ma'am. So she went upstairs with me. Key didn't work for her either, but her key did. I got in my room and she went to get another key. She comes back and that key doesn't work either. I told her I thought the batteries needed to be changed. She said she would try 1 more key then give me a different room if it didn't work. I told her I would like a different room because this one was dirty (hair in the tub, sink and on the floor, sheets were dirty and the toilet was broke). 1 hour later I called the front desk to ask them what was going on because no one never came back. She came with ANOTHER key that didn't work and asked me if I really needed a key and am I planning on leaving my room! Whrn I told her I paid for the option to come and go as I please she said to wait there and she would get me another room (same promise she had already made). Another hour goes by so I call the front desk and demand another room or a refund. Of course the afternoon gal has no idea what's going on because shift change had happened and they didn't bother telling her I was locked in a dirty room. She tried calling her manager and the manager didn't answer. She explains that she can't give me a refund without authorization but she could send me to Super 8. Ummm...no! She comes up and gets a key to work. Great! I order food because I know they can't change rooms but when it came, no utensils. I went down stairs, grabbed some plastic ware go back to my room...locked out AGAIN!! The poor lady is swamped with check ins. She gives me another key, it doesn't work. I told her I think the batteries need changed. After waiting over 45 minutes (not this gals fault as she was so busy and had no help), she has a break so we head upstairs. She changed the batteries and the key worked! The next morning when checking out I told the lady at the front desk about the worst hotel experience ever and she promised a manager would call me. I waited 1 week and no ever reached out to me. This place has went downhill so much in the last few months. There's plenty of other hotels so I will give them my business. The manager needs...
Read moreA few months ago our travel agency booked 2 rooms for august 29 2019 in your hotel Wingate by Windham in Gillette (WY). When we arrived at the front desk for our check in, the woman (a blonde one) didn't respond to our "Hello", nor look at us. She was working at her computer and went on for a while, not apologising. Quite unproffessionnal. Finally, perhaps 3 minutes later, as we were becoming more than irritated, she looked at us without speaking and I gave her our voucher. She asked for our passports and credit card, so we discovered that she could speak! She resumed typing on her keyboard for a while. We asked her if there was a problem as she didn't seem to find our reservation. She, once more, didn't answer, picked up her phone and made a call to someone explaining that we hardly speak english!!! How did she dare those words. She hardly spoke to us. Because if she had made the tiniest effort to be polite and professionnal and speak to us she had found that if our english is not that fluent, we can carry on a conversation. She hung up the phone and still without talking to us she started again with her computer then gave us our keys with the minimum explanations about our rooms, the pool, the laundry and the breakfast room. We had no problem for the rest of our stay. But a few days after, checking my credit card statement, to my great surprise, I was charged with $ 97.62 for that night despite the fact that all was already paid. Of course, our friend had the same problem with their own room. We hope that this hotel is not representative of your brand but know that we will not advertise and we'll think twice before staying...
Read moreBooked room and was put into an adjoining room with the door directly in front of the bed. Pretty unnerving to know that the next door guest can watch me sleep through the cracks. I didn't specifically request no adjoining room, so I can't really fault them too much.
Looking at the front desk sign, they have a no pet policy, but apparently they do allow dogs. I wasn't aware of that, but again, I assumed rather than dig into their policies before booking. Can't say I was a fan of the dog barking at night, but they really can't control the dog.
Now onto the things they can control...
The toilet in my room does not successfully flush if you don't hold down the handle for several seconds. Not a huge deal, but an inconvenience that should be fixed.
The main inconvenience was the smoke / CO detector going off several times early in the morning. When I asked the manager about it after checking out, they said they are aware and there isn't any fire. They just shut them off as soon as they start going off (hotel wide). I could be mistaken, but that seems like a pretty huge safety violation. The bigger question might be, is that the smoke alarm, or the CO alarm? Pretty sure the first time it went off, it beeped 4 times instead of 3. Subsequent times, they shut the alarms off after two beeps.
Looking at past reviews, this doesn't seem like it is a new development.
On the positive side, the beds are at least comfortable.
At any rate, I would recommend...
