I stayed at Quality Inn in Goldsboro, Northern Carolina for approximately four weeks while working a travel nurse assignment at a nearby hospital—and I can say without hesitation that it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a hotel staff. Everything was okay for the first two weeks, but it completely unraveled after that.
I was booking weekly, and during the second week, I thought I had reserved my checkout for Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Turns out, the reservation was for Saturday, but I didn’t realize that at the time. After working a grueling Friday night shift, I came back Saturday morning, put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door, and went to sleep—exhausted and needing rest before my next shift that night.
Then, chaos. I was jolted awake by someone banging relentlessly on my door, shaking it back and forth while yelling, “CHECK OUT! CHECK OUT!” The safety latch was on, so the door didn’t open fully—but that didn’t stop whoever it was from trying to force it. I was half-asleep, undressed, and totally shocked. I staggered to the door to find housekeeping screaming at me through the crack like I was some squatter, not a paying guest. I told her I thought I was booked through Sunday and that I’d go down to the front desk to sort it out—but she continued to bang as if she didn’t hear a word I said.
I barely had time to put on clothes when another knock. This time it was the front desk clerk, and again I told her I’d be right down once I got dressed. I was furious by then, but kept my cool, got ready, and went down. I extended my stay for two more days since I needed sleep and had Monday off.
While I was at the desk, another guest—a Spanish woman—was checking out. The clerk casually asked her whether her roommate had also checked out. The woman responded that her friend worked the night shift and was still sleeping, and the clerk simply nodded and said “okay.” No door-banging, no yelling, no harassment. Just calm, polite understanding. The only difference between me and them? They were Spanish. Everyone involved—front desk, housekeeping, other guests—they were all Spanish. I wasn’t.
I pointed out to the front desk that what happened to me was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. They could’ve used the phone in the room to call me, instead of sending someone to pound on my door like I was being evicted. All the front desk clerk said was, “It wasn’t me.” No apology, no accountability.
After talking with my husband, we decided I would just stick it out since it was close to the hospital. But when I went to book another week, I was told I was on a “do not rent” list—for being rude, apparently. The staff member who told me was surprised, since she’d helped me before and never had an issue. She called the manager and was able to override it so I could stay.
Then, after a quick trip home, I returned to book another week—only to be told again that I was blacklisted. By that point, I wasn’t even surprised.
Oh—and I almost forgot: One day, my room flooded. Water came pouring in, soaking the bedroom section floor. When I called the front desk, I was told the air conditioning leak when it rains, “We can bring you some towels.” I explained I had to leave immediately for work and asked if housekeeping could clean it up. The answer? “They won’t go in the room if you’re not there.” Funny—because housekeeping had been in my room multiple times before while I was out. When I returned after my shift, the water was still there.
If you’re not Spanish, don’t expect respect here. This place is a joke—rude staff, discriminatory behavior, appalling customer service, and a complete lack of basic professionalism. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. I’ve stayed in budget hotels across the country, and this was hands-down the worst—not just for the facilities, but for how I was treated like I didn’t belong there.

Read moreFriday 26 April, we were woken up by extremely noisy neighboring room which went on for a long time (this was 1.28 am). I complained to the front desk the next morning but nothing was done. Again Saturday night at 12.38 am the same people returned to their rooms and decided to have a hot dog party in the hallway and started banging on each others doors to share hotdogs. My husband called reception and was told that she would like to give them time to settle as they had just returned to the hotel, this was after 20 minutes of disturbing the peace. I called shortly after and spoke with receptionist (Diamond) who told me the same thing. I did not appreciate being asked to let them settle in, this was again after 25 minutes or so. I called several times after that and the receptionist come up to ask them to keep noise down as there was complaints. The woman in the room directly across from mine started arguing with her saying that she had the right to laugh in the hallway. This was again well after 1 am. After the receptionist went back downstairs, the woman in the hallway started coming out cussing me out and making more loud noise and put loud music on her phone and started playing it outside my room. I called reception again and asked for the Police to be called. They arrived and asked the women to leave, let me mention that these women were older women and should've known better than to be delinquent. After she denied to the police that she was playing music he asked them to return to their room which they did. I waited 15 minutes and she come back out and started cussing me again. I was happy to know the Police had stayed upstairs and he told her that if there was more disturbance he would remove her. The noise died down shortly after. At this time it was well after 1.30 am. Myself and my husband had come to NC to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary but got very little sleep. We had not been apologized to and on Sunday morning when we were checking out, I had wanted to talk to reception to get the Corporate contact details but the two women were obviously looking for who complained as they were seated front and center. I did not want to be involved in an incident so walked passed and handed keys to reception. I have in the meantime contacted someone to file a complaint but heard nothing back. I would expect to be refunded for the two nights of...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I would liken this place to a low budget motel. This place needs to shut completely down! The shift manager Juana- garbage and the general manager Mr.Prajapati is a pompous jerk slum hotel GM. The rooms have stains on the walls, chipped paint, the furniture is damaged, the chairs are stained with what one could only guess was random body fluids. We were switched to another room, still subpar and luckily for us just a little less filthy than the first. Unfortunately, a few hotels up the road were sold out. I followed the protocol from the 3rd shift staff, and spoke with Juana who apparently thought it was funny as she laughed while speaking with me and provided me with an email address for the GM. I attempted to email pictures of the room however, the email was kicked back as apparently he does not check his email. I received a call on the room phone despite providing my cell number and Mr. Prajapati did not wish to hear my concerns and offered me 10% off on my room. As I attempted to continue to share my concerns, I was told by Mr. Prajapati that he would no longer offer me the whopping 10%. Laughable. He stated their is no one above his rank at this particular Choice hotel. A shame! At check out, I informed Juana that the email address for her boss is full and I was certain she was aware of this and still sent me on a dummy mission- to which she replied "well, that's his email". At this point, not only was the run down "hotel" trash but the staff and their attitudesand lack of concern is trash as well and I let Juana know that she was a b*tch as we had a stare down. The police were contacted as she asked me to leave as I was checking out and I was more than happy to leave! I would have loved to have left upon entry to the filthy room however their policy states one full night will be charged after 4pm. Definitely took pictures and video of the rooms and what they looked like as we were leaving. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! For some reason, Google is saying error when attempting to upload pics. I will attempt to upload at...
