I got into town earlier than expected, so I had to rent a room at regular rate because they wouldn't allow me to check into the room I reserved. Okay, the room I got looked clean from the door, but upon entering and further inspection, it was a rushed, clean job. So, I took pictures and called the office once the manager was on duty. He proceeded to tell me that the room was checked clean, and I had to let him know that just because the housekeeper checked it clean doesn't mean it was cleaned. I asked for a discount of $10 because I went ahead and cleaned the room and that I would just use this room for the duration of my stay. The room I reserved was to have a kitchen, and this room did not. So needless to say, no financial accommodations were offered. Had someone try to break into my truck and when I called to have them check the cameras, was told they were down but then got a call back to be told that they would review the time frame it happened. Received a call back several hours later to be told that "Casper the ghost" was the one that lifted the toolbox door opened on my truck. At this point, I'm ready to go. Breakfast consisted of 2 choices of cereal, milk, waffles, orange or apple juice, coffee and Little Debbie's snack cakes and cookies. The photos I've uploaded are before I cleaned the room.
RESPONSE/ADDITIONAL NOTE: First, get your information correct before you try to correct me. I came on the 29th (Saturday) around 2am and the young lady would not allow me to check into my reserved room until 2pm. I PAID full price for my room, never accommodated for any fees! I booked through Priceline, not Expedia, for a queen bed, smoking room, with fridge, full kitchen, and microwave. As for housekeeping guidelines, someone didn't follow the guidelines when it came to this room, and I did address the issue by calling the office at 8:30 am the same day. By the way, I'm still waiting for the $5 discount you proposed. As far as the vehicle incident, you did check the cameras, but ONLY called back to say nothing was on it. Not that you'd assist with a...

Read moreLet's first make the point that this is a $45/night hotel; for that price, everyone knows you're not staying in the Taj Mahal. For that price in fact, I've stayed in some pretty bad places, with stains on the sheets and towels, roaches crawling around everywhere, and Showdown at the OK Corral - style gunfights taking place outside. ||||This America's Best Value Inn in Groves exceeded my expectations for the price point. The rooms have obviously been recently refurbished, with new paint, new a/c units, etc, and they are clean and insect-free; that alone is enough to justify a high rating for the value. The people that run the place are also very professional and capable and easy to understand, and although the continental breakfast is small and spare, it does include a pretty cool waffle machine that makes waffles in the shape of Texas. And they taste great too. The coffee is okay, wireless internet works fine, and my only real complaint is that the tiny little shower stalls are very hard to use. ||||The location is great also, being right at the corner of one of the most major highway intersections in the area, but tucked back from the road. The rooms are very small but that's something you can find out before you even decide to commit your money; this place deserves a Very Good rating mainly because there are no hidden...
