I had the absolute worst experience dealing with this establishment. I had a wedding in Derby with a lot of my guests coming from out of town and needed to use a hotel to accommodate my guests. They did not have a room block available, but they did have a lock rate which my guests could use so that the price would not increase when they were trying to book their rooms. I reached out to the hotel and spoke with someone on the phone about setting all of this up and gave her all of my information. She said I would need to speak with a manager to confirm my lock rate. I then received a call from the manager who I had to give all of my information to yet again and said she would be sending me a confirmation email for everything. I did receive my confirmation email a day later and then called the establishment back to confirm everything and ask a question. I thought everything was booked and we were all squared away so when I ordered my wedding invitations I added on them to book under my wedding party for a discounted rate. Not long after I sent those invitations out one of my guests reached out to me and told me that they called the hotel to try and book with my special rate and the people from the hotel told my guest that they did not have my name in the system. I immediately called the hotel to figure out what happened. They tried to blame me and say I did not confirm with them about my rate and they did not even have paperwork showing I had contacted them. I was on the phone half an hour with them and ended up resending the confirmation email that I received from them showing all of the information. Once I did that the guy I was talking to conveniently found my paper that he had been looking for the whole phone call. He then said that they would honor my contract and set it up for my guests. A month later another guest of mine reached out and told me that they tried calling the hotel and they said I was not in their system. I was fuming by this point. I looked over my contract again and found hidden in there that the rate was only set up to a certain date. That date was 6 weeks before the wedding date and the date my guests would be using the hotel. I was never told that the rate was valid up to a certain date. If I had been told that then I would have put that on my invites. I called the hotel again to see if they could stop telling people who were calling in and trying to use the rate that I was not in their system since this was causing confusion to them and making them worried for me, but rather tell them that the rate was no longer valid. I called on the weekend and I was told no managers were available until Monday and I could leave a voicemail on the machine for the manager to listen to Monday. I did leave a long message explaining what happened and told them after all the trouble they need to fix this and make this right. I never got a call back from them. They could care less about customer service or trying to make things right. They are just a completely overpriced, unhelpful, unfriendly hotel that I would never recommend to anyone. If you need to stay in the area I would recommend looking for a hotel in South Wichita or Haysville, an Air BNB in Derby, or going to Mulvane and staying at the casino because it is not worth...
Read moreWhile the rooms were clean and the hotel itself is fairly nice, customer service and professionalism is lacking at this establishment. Booked AND paid through a third party agency. Was checked in by a 20 something year old who seemed a little overwhelmed but was pleasant and nice. When I got to my room, had to call the front desk because the cot I requested and paid for through booking agency wasn't there. Gentlemen apologized, and offered an air mattress for my child "as a courtesy" for the inconvenience and since he couldn't look up the booking information. An hour later, at around 10pm I am getting a phone call from him stating that he forgot to get my card and needed it on file for incidentals. Gave it willingly because that's pretty common, I get it....people make mistakes. Get another phone call in the middle of the night at 11:30 from front desk. IS THIS COMMIN? TO CALL YOUR GUESTS AT ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT?!! I have children sleeping. Regardless of these instances, the stay was short and good enough. Until.....I get 2 charges on my debit for rollaway beds that I #1....already paid for via 3rd party. #2....never received. #3....was told the the air mattress (which is hardly a rollaway) was a courtesy. Who in their right mind would pay $20 a night for a blow up bed??!!!! Called the hotel and spoke to Farrah, the General Manager, who pretty much told me that there were no notes about the incident and couldn't do anything until she requests a receipt from the agency. When I pushed the subject of being charged without my permission and for something I NEVER GOT she was rude, unprofessional and quite frankly doesn't deserve to be general manager of any facility if she can get worked up that easily. Corporate office has been contacted & I am disputing the charges that were never authorized. Do yourselves a favor and find a place that is a little more guest oriented. Or at least a place that offers an apology when they have made a mistake on...
Read moreI write good reviews when things are great and I write bad reviews when they warrant people being warned about the level of service they need to prepare themselves for. This hotel is an absolute embarrassment to the Hilton/Hampton name. If there was more competition in hotels in Derby this place would go down quickly. I always choose Hampton first but NOT this one any longer. I will drive a little further and go to the Mulvane location or Wichita. The staff is absolutely not friendly and somewhat aloof and they are NOT kind and caring like all other staff I have encountered at Hampton's in other locations all across the US. They do not have that "go above and beyond" attitude like all other locations. They do not show they care, they makes excuses, they blame the customer instead of taking ownership, they have safety issues, things break down and they are not fixed correctly, we were convinced the coffee and food was just being reused from day to day until it was out. I could go on and on about the issues we came across in comparison to ALL other Hampton's but MOST of all, we called corporate and made our complaints during our stay considering we are DIAMOND level customers and know what to expect - you will NEVER believe this, they KICKED OUR FAMILY OUT as paying customers because we complained to corporate, 100% truth!!! Can you believe that???? Said they tried to be accommodating (what a joke) and we obviously didn't want to be there so we needed to come get our things and leave. By the time we got back to the hotel, there was a bill and the keys were shut off. ABSOLUTE SHOCK. Even corporate was in shock!!! NEVER in my years of traveling have I heard of this or been treated like this at any hotel. Please do not give these people your money, they do not deserve it. What an EMBARRASSMENT! YOU should be ashamed of yourself...
