We found this hotel through the DorneyPark package deals. My daughter (whom is five) insisted on the crayon room she saw in the pictures while I was scrolling and doing research. I won’t lie, it wasn’t my first choice, but being on a budget and knowing she really was excited over crayons on the wall, I figured I take a chance and go with this one for our vacation package. We were greeted by a very kind man and he was very accommodating. We originally didn’t have the crayon room, yet he was kind enough to switch us, Very nice man. Gave us no issues. There was one hallway once you come off the elevator that had a very strong unfamiliar odd odor that I won’t lie was pretty ratchet. Even my daughter would yell and be dramatic about it smelling so bad (honestly by the second day or so in it just came comical and we did see the guys trying to figure out how to clean). So by the last day the hallway did seem to not have that stench anymore, but it was pretty bad. Our room itself was spacious and we enjoyed our TV time together at night once we needed to wind down from all our activities. (This place is close to lots of things which is great). The beds themselves are very uncomfortable and I truly believe an investment in new rugs, and mattresses and pillows are overdue. The bed was so bad I didn’t sleep well and I woke up with bad back pain. The pillows are super lumpy. If anything bring your own pillows. The AC was hard to regulate too, it would get pretty stuffy. So the room was meh. The shower was pleasant and had good water pressure and heat. The toilet didn’t flush well, we had to hold down the handle. All in all the room was so-so I believe it just needs some TLC and time for investing in new stuff for the guests to be truly comfortable. We luckily did not have any issues with bugs like these other guests have been complaining about and mentioning. So knock on wood for that, but yes we did have the discomfort of the mattresses and pillows other guests have complained about as well. My daughter got much enjoyment from the large indoor pool (that’s all she really wanted to do). I do wish there was a hot tub on the deck area where the flower pot stood; that would be super nice. I do wish they cleaned better as well in there. The quiet outside area has such potential but it’s messy, and the pool area needed some work too. It was a nice large pool though and we did truly enjoy our time spent in the pool. There is a small game room you pass to get to the pool; My mom spent a lot of coins on the small game room they have to offer, but worth it bc it was fun. I got to use the little gym room they have; so I got to do my burnbootcamp on demand work outs, which to me I was pleasantly surprised by the weights they had, only complaint there that there was nothing less than 20 lbs and there was only one 20 lbs. some of the work outs I had to do, it was hard for me to do with just one dumbbell or could only get so many reps in bc I had to use the heavy weights (30s and up) Other than that, it was a decent gym room for a small simple motel. The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful to us. We did not run into any rudeness like other guests have, we got quite the opposite. The front desk was helpful, the cleaning lady was never rude to me; she helped us when we needed it and even the lady who served breakfast was always cheerful and polite. I do wish other things were offered for breakfast, I won’t lie, but it was nice they offered that. The bar room was too loud, the music be blaring as if you are in a Las Vegas night club (and trust me I been there and lived there, so I would know). So sadly we couldn’t enjoy that area, it looked very nice too, so it was disappointing. For happy hour, I would highly suggest more laid back music and it not pulsating through the walls that the glasses in the bar are shaking and there’s only two people sitting at the bar. It doesn’t feel necessary despite the dance floor you have to offer; it’s too much. All in all I give it three stars. You...
Read moreThe entire experience here was not pleasant. My wife and I booked this room with our two young kids for a weekend getaway for a baseball game.
Check-in is at 3:00. We got there at 2:00. I asked the desk agent (said his name was "Nick P") if we could check in. Without looking, he said no. There are no exceptions. After asking him a few more times, he finally walked over to his computer and found our reservation. He repeated again "no exceptions". Okay, if that's really a policy, I get it. But he was very rude in how he spoke and made it clear that I was not welcome. Part of this is that the staff at the desk have Airpods in and appear that they are not paying attention.
We came back at 3:00 and got into our room. The door looked broken with a keyhole punched in. It was like this on several other rooms too. The room was nothing fancy and we knew that when we booked it.
But we were expecting a working safe as it was listed as an amenity on our reservation. The safe was in a locked open position. Basically, it looks like a code was entered in the open position meaning it was unusable.
Going to the desk, we were told a safe is not listed. It wasn not until I showed my confirmation that listed a safe that the desk agent said he would check with a manager for an override. About 20-30 minutes later, with no response, I called. I was told they can't do anything. They offered the hotel safe behind the desk. That's not an option for me. I had to argue with them to change our room.
The new room also had a broken safe. The safe had an error code of “BATT-L”. When I showed the desk, they said nothing more that they could do. By this point, my wife and kids were trying to get to the pool. Our room keys did not work on the pool despite it being open and others being in the pool. They re-did the keys a few times with no luck. It took over 2 hours until we had working keys. None of this came with any sort of sincere apology. I was actually told that I just wanted to argue. That could not be more accurate, but I do expect things to work. I know a safe is not important to everyone, but for us, it was.
Inside the room was not much better. I know many reviews mention that there are no soap dishes. This was the case here too. There was no where in the shower or on the sink to put the bar of soap or shampoo bottles without leaving a big mess.
There is a sink in the main room with a random hole drilled out next to it. Overheard are two recessed lights that have standard light bulbs (not the correct bulbs). One of them I had to take out because the bulb kept flashing. My wife has epilepsy and this was not going to work. That bulb was put back before we left.
The bathroom has one single hook for a towel. It looks like there used to be one on the door but it either fell or was taken down. Because of these issues, we did request a partial refund. The desk agent told me I would have to talk to the manager on Monday. A little while later, he called and told me he talked to the manager and there would be no partial refunds. We could leave right then and there for a full refund. By this time, it was already 6:00 at night and we stayed.
The first night, we needed extra sheets for our kids. My wife went to the desk to ask for some. She was told "someone will bring them to you". After about 20 minutes (we were trying to put our kids to bed), she went back. The desk agent walked behind the desk and gave her the sheets. Not sure why he couldn't do that the first time??
The hallways have what appears to be air fresheners that spray. Every one that we saw was beeping and showed empty.
The breakfast: seriously lacking. The yogurt on our first morning had an expiration date of that same day. The food was about what you would expect for a complimentary breakfast. We’ve had worse before. The breakfast is not a self-serve and you have to ask the lady behind the counter to make the plate. She is very rude, and we watched here berate several people in line for...
Read moreOverall, this hotel did the thing considering it’s price, but that’s about it. The saving grace was the friendly staff members and location of the hotel.
On arrival the staff was very friendly and helpful during check-in, but when we entered our room (when we finally found it… I mean the hotel is a literal maze) that’s when things started to go downhill.
The main living/sleeping area was clean, but clearly dated due to minor cosmetic damages and worn appliances. The air conditioner made strange sounds and struggled to keep the room cold. You definitely didn’t get that “hotel air conditioning” feel, if you know what I mean.
I went into the bathroom to wash my hands, and this is when things really started to get concerning. I turned on the sink and suddenly heard what I thought to be water hitting the floor. I looked down and discovered the drain pipe was literally separated into two pieces. The top threaded piece of pipe had what looked to be some sort of plastic bag wrapped around it, and yes, the water was actually pouring out into the bottom shelf of the sink. We called down to the front desk and they sent up a helpful maintenance man that repaired the issue. He fixed the pipe, but used the toilet paper we had in our room to soak up the mess.. and never replaced the toilet paper lol.
The air vent for the shower above the toilet was unbelievably filthy. It was totally covered in dust and barely helped at all.
When we were leaving the hotel we noticed the lint trap coming out of the building, which is located right below guests’ rooms. It was filled, I MEAN FILLED with lint. It was even blowing out onto the sidewalk! This was a major concern due to the fact it could cause a catastrophic fire.
Other notable things would be the rooms (WITH FLOOR TO CEILING WINDOWS) that lead right into the pool room..? I could actually see the guests moving about in their room while I was in the pool.
Also be aware of the parties that go on right off of the hotel lobby in what I believe to be the hotel restaurant’s bar. We stayed recently and I’m not sure if these last year round or what. They weren’t any sort of nuisance to us, but I could definitely see people complaining about this, especially with the evident alcohol, loud music, and numerous people involved. I’m also not sure how long they last, but people were partying well...
