Horrible place to stay! Hotel smelled terrible including the room. Door to room would not lock. I put my luggage in front of door for some type of security. Management did not send anyone to fix the lock and I was afraid to sleep. Front desk was called several times regarding all problems. Toilet will fill up to top of bowl as if it would overflow. Sink in bathroom also filled up with water when turned on. Front desk told me to come and get a plunger myself which I did as was afraid toilet and sink would overflow. The tub looked as if it had not been cleaned in ages! Pictures are proof. Hotel has a serious plumbing problem. Light in bathroom would not work. Front desk sent a man who replaced bulb which went out five minutes after he left and had to return to replace again. Room was filthy dirty with dust every where. Phone on desk dirty with piles of filth on it as well as lamps. Management was informed of all the problems but never offered to change my room. I was told that "I can go somewhere else." There was no vacancies at other hotels as I checked. I had my six year old great grandchild with me and was treated badly. I was never rude to management but was treated rudely by staff. Manager was person who checked me in and then lied about who she was when I called after I returned home. I did inform manager that I would contact Corp Office which I did. I reported all the problems to them as well. This hotel need to be investigated as they are taking money from people and not offering good service. I was afraid to sleep in the bed and stayed up until around 3am and had to get up at 4:30 am to leave for Sturgis, MS for the burial of my mom. Yes, I was there for burial services for my 98 year old mother. This hotel have a lot of major problems that Choice Hotel need to investigate and see for themselves. I was not the only person complaining as when I went to front desk, there was a couple other people complaining as well. This is by far the most horrible and frightening experience I've had to deal with. If other people are saying they had a good experience, they are lying or just used to living in disgusting living conditions. After I contacted the manager again regarding my stay, she agreed to refund me for my stay. I'm still waiting to be reimbursed. Corp office is aware of everything. I would have left if I could have gotten a reservation elsewhere. FYI: I stayed at another Choice Hotel in another town two days prior to checking in at Sleep Inn and had no problems and had a very good stay there and returned there after checking out...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I had called this hotel a couple of days before our reservation, and the person who answered the phone, answered it by just saying , " Yeah! ". No greeting or anything. Then once I asked for confirmation for if we could check in a couple of hours early, the next response was simply, " Uh-huh". I just hung up the phone afterward.
The day we checked into the hotel, my wife and I noticed several things and issues from the beginning and just from the first night and following morning.
Hotel manager at the front was the same person whom answered the phone a few days prior.
After we checked-in, we noticed the fire-alarm in the hotel room was pulled out with wires showing.
The hallway and lobby smelled musty and outdated. Musty from lack of cleanliness.
Had to ask the manager/front desk for "do not disturb" signs. She said housekeeping had them. I asked house keeping and they said they do not have any.
Wi-Fi is unsecure, so the so called premium Wi-Fi that's listed as an accommodation, isn't necessarily premium if anyone can access it and it's public. Not to mention, it kept going in and out.
1st morning, I had inform the front desk manager that their were several breakfast items out. The response we received was as if they were annoyed and we were being a nuisance to her. Not only that, but there was a nice puddle of water in the breakfast lobby, in which I informed her of too. Not sure where it came from but she ignored it, even after walking over to that area. ( No wet floor sign and didn't even bother wiping or cleaning it up )
2nd morning of breakfast, same thing. This time, we just said whatever and didn't even bother sitting down and eating there.
As we were leaving our stay, housekeeping left their cart in the middle of an already narrow hallway and with the luggage cart, both can't side by side. The cart was at the lobby side of the hallway and one of the gentleman that looks like he may own or help run that location, simply just sat there and watched me as I am trying to move the cart in order to get down the hallway. At this time, he had his feet propped up on the same table in the lobby for the 3 hours we went in and out of our hotel room and the lobby. (Between breakfast and packing up our vehicle).
This is absolutely one of the worst hotel stays we have been a part of. And it certainly leaves a terrible taste in our mouths for Choice Hotels. Especially with the signage in the hotel, claiming it's all about service and...
Read moreI travel for work and stay in choice hotels most of the time. This has been the only place I’ve stayed when working in Hattiesburg and the surrounding area for the past 13 years and I’ve recommened it to those I work with and even had them stay when we worked and traveled together. I have actually stayed here when traveling through while on vacation. That WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
When I checked in, the lady behind the desk was great. I go up to my room, there is hair all over the shower and a previous guests food in the refrigerator. It was such a mess I actually thought maybe the room was double booked...seriously or that I had walked into the wrong room.
I cleaned out the shower and the refrigerator myself and thought that maybe housekeeping was having a bad day. It had never happened before so I didn’t even call the front desk.
The next morning I called the front desk and asked to stay in the room a little later than the 11:00 am check out. I wasn’t planning on staying all day, just an extra 30 minutes. The lady that answered the phone said “no, we do not allow that”. I read the hotel information book on the desk in my room and it said to call the front desk and ask the manager about staying later than 11am. The woman that I spoke to on the phone is the general manager, Pyrinka. When I checked out, I noticed a housekeeping lady sitting on the couch in the front lobby still wearing her nasty purple gloves she wears when cleaning rooms. She was doing something on her smart phone. The general manager was at the front desk and could see her. Housekeeping obviously doesn’t have the time to clean the rooms.
This USE TO BE A GREAT HOTEL. I would think in a city like Hattiesburg when there are over 30 hotels within a mile or two of this one, Sleep inn and Suites would make theirs the best it can be to beat their competition. I will NEVER stay here again. I will tell employees I work with about my experience and tell them to not stay here either. I don’t know what has happened to this hotel. I read other reviews before writing this one and the response left by the hotel is the general one, copied and pasted. It is not personalized to address any issues described by each person taking the time to write the review. Don’t bother leaving me the copy and paste response to this. I just hope others will read this and make a smart decision on where to stay when traveling through or working in and near Hattiesburg. There are NUMEROUS other Choice Hotel options in Hattiesburg. Choose...
