Very nice early 1900's building. Not much to look at from the outside. But, don't be fooled. EXCELLENT service. Our room was small but very nicely decorated. Our room (Suite #6) had a private bathroom (it's likely all of their rooms have private bathrooms). Perfectly clean. The made-to-order breakfast was outstanding. We had a beautiful fruit plate, omelet, special macadamia nut pancakes, bacon, coffee and juice. WONDERFUL!!! Unfortunately, we had to catch an early morning flight and weren't able to enjoy a breakfast on our second (final) morning. The location of the property is literally right on the water. We listened to the waves breaking all night. They also have snacks, delicious local bananas and bottled water available 24/7. They also have beach towels, boogie boards, binoculars, etc. available for guests to use. They have literally got you covered for ANYTHING you need. Highly recommend!

My husband & I, and son & daughter-in-law had a fantastic two-night stay. It was a perfect location for an all-day visit to Volcano National Park and we also visited the local farmers market where we tried some new fruit. Cheryl and her niece introduced us to the fruit with the delicious breakfast. My favorite was the longons. The eggs, pancakes, sausages, and fruit made for a wonderful breakfast. Due to our early departure on our last day, we missed her hearty breakfast, but she accommodated us with the preset coffee pot and snack bars, and juices. Our accommodations were so clean and lovely. The beds were perfect, and the breezes from outside with the ceiling fans made it very comfortable. Thank you again for a wonderful stay, Cheryl!

This place was so awesome to stay at. Upgrade to the oceanview room, you won't regret it. The sound of the waves and the ocean breeze was fantastic. The hosts Brian and Tomoni (sp) were so friendly. Brian was a wealth of information on what to see and where to eat. They offered so many things in the house round the clock... Coffee, bottled water, games, books, snacks, beach towels, bug spray, binoculars, use of the fridge and ice. They have a pool. Breakfast by Tomoni was yummy. Fresh fruits and the coconut macadamia nut pancakes were so good. The only regret was we only stayed one night.

"Oceanfront" is right! This place could not be closer to the water. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights this past week. My favorite part of our stay was how the sound of the waves lulled us to sleep each night.

The town of Hilo and many restaurants are within walking distance (0.2 miles). Our room was beautiful with a very large bed, a 2-person table by the ocean-front window, and a one-person chair. We also had an in-suite bathroom (I believe all rooms do).

Everell made us feel very welcome. He clearly enjoys taking care of people. He greeted us when we first parked, he offered to help with luggage, and he showed us to our room. I enjoyed chatting with him when I bumped into him from time to time during our stay. He's someone I would have a beer with.

Breakfast in the morning was made to order with many options available. My wife and I got coconut macadamia nut pancakes both mornings, which were excellent. We received a fruit platter when we sat down each morning at the breakfast table with various fresh, delicious fruit on it. I wish I could have that every morning at home!

One suggestion: It would be helpful to have more hooks to hang things in the bathroom. It was rainy one day when we were in town, and my wife and I didn't want to hang our damp clothes on the beautiful wood furniture to dry. The two hooks in the bathroom were occupied by our two towels. A few more hooks would be helpful.

All in all it was a delightful stay. I would absolutely stay here again if we visit the area...

If you are traveling to stay in the beautiful town of Hilo, I highly recommend staying at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront Bed and Breakfast! My long stay at this beautiful seafront B&B was one of the best I have ever had. The location is perfect, close to the Hilo airport and just a mile or so from town. This big gorgeous home is very comfortable and clean, and the very friendly owners and staff do a great job of making you feel at home. The rooms are cozy and the decor is classy. I recommend staying in a room with an ocean view. You fall asleep to the relaxing sound of crashing waves and get a cool breeze from the ocean, then wake up to a stunning view and the aroma of bacon cooking in the kitchen. One of my favorite parts of my stay was the delicious breakfast each morning. You get to sit down to a gorgeous view of Hilo Bay while you are offered coffee or a cold juice and a beautifully arranged plate of Hawaiian fruits. The incredibly friendly and accommodating staff then offers you a large range of hot breakfast dishes, my ultimate favorite being the toasted coconut and macadamia nut pancakes. The owners and staff are always willing to help you with anything you may need, which really gives you the feeling of being taken care of. All in all, stay at the Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B if you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing and home-like atmosphere on your next...

This is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. It is located just outside of downtown Hilo (2-min drive or 10-min walk). All major things to do (waterfalls, volcano, etc) are an easy drive away. The breakfast nook and some rooms offer a wonderful, one-of-a-kind ocean-front view. The rooms are well-maintained and each comes with its own bathroom.

During our stay, we had the pleasure of socializing with other guests; however, if that isn't your thing, you'd still be perfectly fine here, as there were a few parties that just slipped into their rooms after a quick "hello". There is a shelf stocked with snacks, an area for coffee, and a refrigerator for leftovers or groceries. They also have umbrellas and snorkeling equipment to borrow, as well as a tiny library! The kitchen is open for guests to use, and offers a nice break from eating out every meal.

The hosts, Cheryl and Everell, were welcoming, and happy to give advice about what to see or where to eat. They serve breakfast every morning, and I highly recommend trying the coconut macadamia-nut pancakes! You can tell that this place is something they deeply care about, as they are always working hard to ensure that guests have a good time. This was easily our favorite place to have stayed on our whole trip. I highly recommend checking them out for your next...
