Escape Hilo — Attraction in Hawaii

Beware! This escape room doesn't flow. You watch a video that doesn't match and set the vibe for the escape room, other than 1 thing. No immersion into the storyline, lacks flow. You instantly feel thrown into a toddler designed room, because it's just all over the place. But there are a lot of true hazards!!! The screws and nails of things hanging on the walls have wallowed out and someone can get hurt with glass breaking or larger objects falling. Ryan the owner/designer needs to take care of all the dangerous and damaged things in the rooms before someone gets hurt. He blew worn-out items off as Red herrings. The worst escape room we've ever done. Do not recommend and as a game master he screams into the microphone. We shouldn't have to listen to his long day with the other groups, we are a new group and should be treated as such. He gave us creepy vibes from the start. The owner/designer/gamemaster. He openly admitted that he is horrible at doing escape rooms with his dad, that was a red flag right...

5 stars, Two Thumbs up, Absolutely exceptional! Our family of 4 tries to do an escape room on every vacation and this was our shot on the big island. Ryan is super excited about his room and obviously spent a lot of time planning it. There are two big surprises, one of which we have never seen in another escape room, and apparently very few groups actually figure this surprise out. We were so surprised by it, in fact, that I don’t think we utilized it very effectively. There are a lot of keys and combo locks, and a few other physical tasks that make this a difficult and fun room. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenaged boys) escaped with less than ONE MINUTE left, and only needed help with two clues. Ryan, if you make another room (and we’re back on the big island someday) we will absolutely be knocking on your door. Thanks for a really great time in Hilo. ...

Me, my wife and two of my siblings with their spouses all went to this escape room and had a BLAST. Most of us have never done an escape room before, but we still managed to beat the room with a little over 7 minutes to spare. (You have an hour to “escape” the room.). My siblings who have done a handful of escape rooms on the mainland say that this one is definitely one of the best ones they’ve ever gone to. The puzzles were tons of fun and very well thought out by the game master, Ryan. He’s great and super friendly; we definitely felt welcome and excited to be there. Escape Hilo is super good fun and should make an exceptional time for you and your family and/or friends who are looking for something fun to do.
