We booked this hotel based on price, location and the good reviews on another review website. The price is good (for L.A) and, as we had an early morning flight to catch from LAX, the location is good for those needing to get to/from the airport. The girl on reception was friendly and welcoming. We were given a large modernized room on the second floor which was, for the most part, very clean. There was a fridge and a microwave and a large TV and the wifi worked well. ||||But here's why I am quite surprised by the good reviews. The walls are paper thin and aside from the noise from the traffic, the parking lot and the planes, we were unfortunate enough to have a room next to an extremely amourous couple, (at one point, I wondered whether I should call the police because I didn't know whether the screaming was because someone was being hurt or not), who played loud music until 3am, whose activities actually made our own bed vibrate, who kept coming in and out of their room and going to their car, at one point driving away (leaving the music in their room on full blast) and then coming back 20 mins later. If I hadn't been for the fact we had to get up at 4am to catch a flight and it was already 3am, I would have asked reception to change our room. I didn't sleep at all. ||||The area itself is not so pleasant after dark - as a woman I would not advise any lone woman to stay there. When we came back late from dinner (12:30 am), there were people in the car park who immediately drove off when we arrived. ||||Although the bathroom was absolutely spotless, the room itself clean and the sheets of good quality, there were stains on the blue comforter on our bed - I'm pretty sure I don't need to explain what kind of stains they were. ||||In short, probably the best value option around in the lower price range, but if you're a light sleeper or a lone female, it might not be the...
Read morejust now It was horrible El Rancho is NOT BABY Friendly. July 10th, 2018 I called around 10:30am to see if they had availability a lady answered and said yes a non-smoking room with 2 beds (which was perfect because I have a 2 year old son and 10 month old daughter) but that I would to wait until check-in time which was 11am. I said ok I'll be there caucht the bus there and we got there 2 mins early 10:58. A guy answer with a nasty attidue and said' " check in is at 11 nothing's ready". I said ok I didn't realize it wasn't 11 I'll go to BK and come back. Went back at a quarter past 11am and asked if they had any availability. No all our room need there carpet washed so you wont be able to check in until 6pm. I said but when I called this morning round 10 a lady said there was a non-smoking room with 2 beds available that's the one I want. He said it can't be rented because the carpet needs to be cleaned and it won't be ready until 6. So why when I called you said there was one available but I had to wait for 11 2 check in ? In the end a older lady saw what happened who had just stayed there and rented it in her name and they asked her 2 wait 30 mins to go in but she could pay for the room now. I gave her the money she gave me the key. Now it's 7/11/18 my birthday and I want to keep the room another night so I go down to re-rent tge room and a lady tells me I can't I have to check out because the carpet has to be washed and I have to come back and check in at 6, and where's the lady who...
Read moreWe chose this motel as we were looking for somewhere cheap and close to the airport. We arrived between 2 and 3am and left at 11am so we can only judge it on the eight or nine hours we spent there, most of which was of us sound asleep (we’d been travelling on planes for more than 24 hours). We slept relatively well for being jetlagged and the bed was comfortable enough. The room itself was clean and tidy, more than I was expecting having experienced other American motels. The amenities seemed pretty good with a microwave, TV and fridge available. The staff we did encounter in our short stay were friendly and polite. We had a bit of a worry when we first arrived as he suggested he didn’t have our booking despite as booking through Priceline in July. I’m not quite sure if this was their fault or Priceline’s fault but everything seemed to be ok in the end. The staff cleaning the rooms in the morning also seemed very friendly saying goodbye to us in the morning and asking us how we enjoyed the stay. The neighbourhood itself is uninteresting but it was a good place to stay before a long drive we had to make...
