Mariscos Guillen is my go-to spot every time I’m back in LA! I’ve been coming here since before I moved away a few years ago, and without fail, I always have to stop by for their filete a la diabla—it’s that good. This place is a true hidden gem, a cozy hole-in-the-wall with an authentic mariscos vibe that hits you the moment you walk in. You can smell the fresh seafood being cooked in the back—it’s the real deal.
They’ve got a solid menu with great variety, whether you’re craving shrimp tacos, ceviche, or something spicier like I do. There are plenty of tables if you want to dine in, but it’s also super convenient to call ahead and order for pick-up.
What really sets this place apart is the owner—he’s always friendly, helpful, and genuinely cares about getting your order just right. The service feels personal, which is rare these days. Other reviewers agree that the food is always fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the Hawthorne area and love authentic...
Read moreVery delicious seasood! This place is small but very friendly and worth the stop. They offer other thing besides seafood like tacos, tortas, and burritis but they specialize in seafood. My favorite is ceviche de camaron(shrimp ceviche) and mojarra frita (fried tilapia). They flavor is authentic and always fresh. The serve a very delicious agua fresca de jamaica (hibiscus fresh water) . They also serve sodas and beer i believe. They have a parking lot in the back its a bit small but you can always park in the street too. The employees are very friendly and the prices are very cheap. They serve homemade fresh tostadas with the ceviche. During my chilhood when i used to live in Culver City i used to visit their other location in venice off of lincoln blvd.,now i live in hawthorne and love that they have this location 2 minutes away from my house. Theres nothing like having some fresh shrimp tostada or cocktail on a...

Before most travel came to a halt, a recent return afforded the opportunity to seek out more LAX-adjacent mariscos, this time in Hawthorne.
Mariscos Guillen, named for the original owner, was a fun lunch find and much more than the simple counter-service joint it presents itself as. The menu of offerings is actually quite vast, but the stack of tostadas near the register for ordering might clue you into what most people are eating here.
Pay in cash, take your seat, and get settled. As simple dishes like the ceviche tostada ($2.50) are enjoyed, someone will come over and make sure everything is good. The place has all the makings of a joint you want to become...
