Short story: I will never stay here again. Not worthy of the Ayres brand name.
Long story: I am an awards member of Ayres and wanted to give this place a try after a long international flight instead of nearby airport hotels.
I was in a courtyard room, which was super quiet, considering that the hotel is almost touching the 405 freeway. The bed was comfortable, and dinner at the restaurant (not theirs, it is a third-party restaurant) was decent, but that is where the good part ends.
The whole hotel seemed to running on a reduced budget, and it just felt like a nice hotel about to shut down. The furnishings were tired, the staff were all trainees, and everyone seemed to be figuring out how to run their stations. There were scant bathroom supplies, none of the little items that other hotels provide. I had been traveling for a month, and the difference here was notable. It could have been just ok, but then...
I wanted to relax in the room, sleep off jetlag, and have room service breakfast. They don't really have a restaurant of their own, and apparently, room service is run by a third party who refused to answer the phone. The phone would ring, someone would pick up without answering, and then send the phone to a busy signal. After 15 minutes of working with the front desk, thinking it was a phone issue since the phones in the room are circa 1970, it came down to the front desk having to walk over to the room service call person, ask him to pick up the phone, then transfer me to him directly.
He answered the phone with a brusk, angry "hello". I wasn't sure who I was speaking to. He didn't say "room service" or anything. I asked him if this was room service and he gave me an angry "Yes, what do you want?" At this point, it was clear he was super mad and that is not someone I wanted to order food from, so I gave up and called the front desk to report the problem. Their response was there was nothing they could do since it is a third-party service. I want to caveat all of this by saying that the hotel seemed almost deserted, so it was not a busy day for the front desk or the room service attendant. I was too hungry to stay in the room, so I just packed up and checked out, looking for breakfast and vowing that I will never stay here again and making sure that I warned others who might be hoping for a nice stay.
I would not recommend this hotel and would advise the hotel that if you contract with a third party to provide room service, which you advertise, you should be responsible for the service and not pawn it off on others. There is no room service at your hotel, and you should stop advertising it, or fire the contractor who refuses to do their job and...
Read moreIt's an old hotel with interesting features. Good if you do not want to stay downtown. As for the room, it's ok. The first night I was given a 2-bed hearing impaired room. It would've been ok, except this hotel still uses feather pillows and comforters, not so good for people with feather allergies. Also, around 11pm at night, I was getting ready for bed when I started to hear dripping sounds. It startled me, because I wasn't sure if someone was in my room and started to use the sink. When I got up to see what the dripping sound was coming from, the sink was full of water, even though the faucet was off and water was overflowing onto the floor. I had to grab all the towels and throw them onto the floor to soak up the water. When staff arrived to see what was happening with the sink, he realized the pipes were wet and the sink was warm (the water drained through the drain). He mentioned the plumber was out for the night and I can wait till tomorrow for them to fix it. I had to ask, if they had another room for me to stay in, I was not going to stay in a room with a leaking faucet. Of course, staff said yes, but I shouldn't have to ask. Then when the next room was prepared. (I sked for a feather free room), a woman came up to give me my card. She seemed unhappy that she had to bring it to me,... welp after that the new room was decent. My stay was fine from there, but I was a little uneasy after worried that the plumbing system would...
Read moreThis hotel is stunning on the inside. If you love a historic European-inspired décor, this is the hotel for you. The staff is welcoming and always helpful. We hosted an event in the Renaissance ballroom. The wait staff was fantastic! The room is well cared for and the A/V team we worked with was Phenomenal! Shout out to Garth, Scott, Joe, and Justin for making what we thought would be incredibly complicated, so incredibly easy! Rosie, the hotel Sales Manager, also deserves a shout out as she was able to put our concerns at ease and made the whole process so smooth. She often thought of things we didn't consider which was a major contribution to the success of our event. Parking was easy and our clients raved about the venue and location.||As for the rooms, they are spacious, clean, and in good condition. The television set is definitely in need of an upgrade, but most people coming here aren't coming to watch T.V. so that's not a big deal in my opinion. This is by far the most convenient location as it is located across the street from a Costco and McDonald's, and right off the 405 freeway. It's a very popular spot for Pilots and crew to stay. The beds are not the softest I've ever slept on but still comfortable enough to get a good nights rest. The room was quiet and we were on the first floor. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel for a restful stay and doubly so...
