Vagabond Motel The motel was a terrible place to stay. I picked this place based on reviews, but I definitely didn't have their experiences. After driving 8-hrs we were looking forward to a restful night as we had the same amount of driving the next day. It was promising at first with room on ground floor with a fridge and microwave. The only thing I could fault is the carpet was dirty and stained and a sewer smell in bathroom. Other then that it was clean. After going to bed at 10:30pm we were woken 20-min later as kids were running up and down hall. I'm sure they're excited on a friday night to stay up later. I don't fault them for being young, but the parents for not making their kids behave in guest common areas. We get back to sleep only to be woken a second time at 12:30am with people fighting and screaming in hall outside our room. We called the police, but disturbance went on for half hour before they either took it outside (office at end of hall...were was the manager?) or police arrived. Tried to get back to sleep, but people kept slamming doors and talking loudly in hallway or outside in parking lot until 2am. Finally getting back to sleep then woken a third time at 3am with people upstairs stomping around! Not sleeping, at 5am we got up and got...
Read moreI visited the area and stayed here for two nights. When I checked in, the guy at the counter mentioned that the hotel was a smoke-free environment including weed. That struck me as odd, since I had already read that in the booking information. Looking back, I realize he only brought it up because I’m a young Black man, and he assumed I smoked weed. They ended up keeping my deposit, but I’ve disputed the charge and reported them to the California BBB. Also, they don’t mention that the hotel is next to a sketchy area, and there’s literally nothing around. If the price looks cheap, there’s a reason do not stay here. Also the place smelled like cigarette smoke to have a "no smoking" rule is nothing but a scam to try and keep your $100 deposit. If you want to stay somewhere but don't want to pay ridiculous prices try the Jack London inn in Oakland it's a much better option than this place and they won't try to steal your deposit. Honestly wished I read the reviews before staying here that's on me but if I can prevent any decent people from spending money with this drug den hotel I...
Read moreI work at Cal State, East Bay. One evening I was just too damn tired to take the long commute back to San Francisco. So, decided to stay in Hayward for the night (I always keep an overnight bag in the trunk just in case I think IO might not have the energy to drive safely back home). Every motel close to the campus was sold out - but the Vagabond Inn, about a 15-minute drive,- had one room left. Believe me, I did not want to pay the $149.00 room fee, but by Bay Area standards, I suppose that is par for the course. The hotel is in an especially gritty part of , generally, gritty Hayward (I saw a hooker in short pants (the weather was frosty) standing right outside the motel. However, the motel's clientele all appeared to be law abiding citizens - for instance, many contractors/trade union folks. My room was spacious and immaculate. Also, I had my little doggie - the room fee was a very reasonable $10. The breakfast was just cold cereal, a bit of fruit, and coffee/tea. In conclusion, I would not hesitate to stay...
