Mercado California — Local services in Hayward

Been coming to this store since it was Gus's. It definitely looks nicer than when it was under his ownership, but that's about it. Prices of goods naturally increase over the years, but this place takes it a step further. The Fresh fruit/vegetables are nice (if you remember Gus's always had rotten fruit/vegetables) the Deli is also nice, but that's about it. It's no stretch to say that this liquor store may very well be the most expensive liquor store in Hayward. They charge more than convenience stores, without the convenience factor.

Honestly, I used to come here as a last resort, and that's about it. I'd much rather take the extra 5 minutes, and go to 7/11, JJ's, Model Liquor, Chevron, or...
