We traveled as a couple on our first quick getaway in quite a while, staying two nights for our first time in the greater Sonoma area. We're so incredibly happy that we chose to book at Harmon.
Prior to arriving, I coordinated a few requests with Rachel who truly helped engage us and get us excited for the trip. Once arriving, we had an earlier flight and while my room wasn't quite ready (expected as it was well before check-in) they offered to hold luggage and send an automated text once it was ready.
Shortly after we received the notification our room was ready, the concierge that morning was the kindest gentleman who gave thorough arrival instructions and tips; we booked a king suite and once we opened the door it was immaculate and so much more spacious than expected. Very aesthetic with a boutique modern city boho vibe.
In our two days, we dined at both the Rooftop and ate breakfast at Spoonbar; food and drinks were delightful at both. Refresh services for our room were consistent by the cleaning crew and a nice surprise to walk into with fresh made beds and wine glasses.
Service, location and cleanliness all an absolute 5 stars. the only sub-par aspect that I believe the hotel portfolio owner and managing directors should put thought into is their pool area; I realize it's not the type of stay that requires resort style amentities but the pool area at both Harmon and the sister hotel H2 seemed to be worn down quite a bit and neither included any spa. I think if they upgraded at least one of the properties pool areas with a standard spa or fireplace and more thoughtful design in the pool area it would feel more on brand and experiental matching the rest of the property.
Overall I have since recommended Harmon to a handful colleagues who frequent the Napa / Sonoma area and I stand by a...
Read moreThe concierge, Rachel, was amazing. She helped us materialize our perfect wine day by making reservations at a number of wineries and by recommending a private driver. The staff were also very polite. The design of the room was lovely and the complimentary snacks were a nice touch.
HOWEVER, the mattress in our room was completely collapsed on one side and very uncomfortable. When we mentioned something to the front desk, they assured us they would have it taken care of while we were out of the room. We were gone for over 7 hours and came back to find we'd received turn down service, but the mattress issue wasn't resolved.
The location of the hotel was ideal for walking to the town square, which was absolutely picturesque. If your a light sleeper, you may want to avoid staying in one of the rooms that face the main street as the can be pretty loud if you're not accustomed to that sort of thing.
A couple of other things to note, many of the "features" are shared or located at the hotel's sister property, referred to as H2 Hotel. The continental breakfast is served at the sister property hotel's restaurant, Spoonbar. The primary swimming pool is also located at H2 Hotel. The one directly at the Harmon Guest House wasn't heated at the time we were there and it looked like it needed a bit of love.
Lastly, their payment scheme was a bit odd. We booked through a third party booking site and we were charged a portion prior to our stay. Then, when we got to the hotel, we had to pay a for one night and a $200 deposit. When we checked out, we were confused as we were told we had to pay for a second night, but that some of the previous charges would come back on our card.
Anyway, stellar concierge and...
Read moreThis is my third stay and I’d previously rated it 5 stars. Great staff and location. However, this visit we were disappointed. I requested a balcony room facing the main street so that we could hopefully see the July 4th fireworks. Request granted. That was very nice. We were able to see partial fireworks!! But the balcony “curtains” were basically sheer, you could literally see through them, and the morning sun hit the room like a flood light so wake up call at sunrise. Very loud street noise at night trying to sleep. So I wouldn’t recommend balcony overlooking the main street next time. The complimentary snacks they used to have in the room were no more. They used to have really great chips, nuts, cookies in the service cart in the room and it was a lovely touch. Also the complimentary valet parking is no longer complimentary. The white bedspread had what appeared to have a blood stain on it and there were three throw rugs on the floor that slipped and one had a couple stains on it. The ice machine on our floor and the floor below us were not working. It just didn’t seem like the same classy hotel I remember from past stays and attention to detail wasn’t up to par. One thing I really would appreciate is luggage racks in the room to set your suitcases on. They suggest that you call the front desk to let them know when you need your car brought up, but both times I called, nobody picked up the phone even after several rings. Love the rooftop bar. It’s very convenient and great staff. But I’m not sure we will be back. We live locally so it’s an expensive staycation to not feel 100...
