A Plaza with a Lot of History!
Healdsburg Plaza was established in 1857 to create a beautiful space for the community. The founders succeeded in their goal. Originally, the plan was to surround the plaza with churches, but that didn’t work out. Instead, there are many nice shops, restaurants, bars, and wineries around the plaza, making it a popular spot to visit many times. When we visit, we often meet friendly people enjoying a walk and willing to chat. It may not have churches, but it is a wonderful community plaza.
Healdsburg Plaza is one of California's few remaining historic town squares. It has been a central meeting point for over 160 years. The Plaza’s design follows the traditional "Spanish-style" town square, common in many California towns during the 19th century. This historical aspect adds charm and significance to the area.
The Plaza is beautifully landscaped with mature trees, well-maintained lawns, and colorful flowerbeds. In the center is a charming gazebo, often the focal point for local events and live music. The surrounding buildings feature a mix of historical and modern architectural styles, adding to the area's appeal.
Because it is in the heart of Sonoma County, Healdsburg Plaza has many tasting rooms and wine bars where visitors can sample local wines. There are also many restaurants offering casual bites to fine dining. Some restaurants feature farm-to-table menus, highlighting the region’s produce.
The Plaza hosts various events throughout the year, drawing locals and tourists. These include farmers' markets, art fairs, food festivals, and holiday celebrations. The summer concert series is also very popular. You can attend these concerts and enjoy live music in the...

The Healdsburg plaza becons to an older time. Mature redwoods line the plaza square. There are times when crafts and art fairs, live music and wine tastings are around on weekends.
The streets are lined with art galleries, restaurants from simple fair, to more refined foods, as well as wine tasting everywhere. Lol
It is October and wine crush is here. A last tourist push.
You can find some good bargains at the art fairs. I was able to find music photos from concerts in the day of the rolling Stones, led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, heart, and lynrd Skynyrd. Showing my age, but very nice photography. All unique and unpublished. I bought quite a few to take home and mat and frame.
In all a nice town to visit, and look around for 3-4 days.
An addition for the holidays. A Healdsburg...
