We stayed at Hotel Healdsburg hoping for a relaxing two-day escape, drawn in by its reputation as a luxury boutique hotel. ||The location is ideal—right on the town plaza—and the building itself is beautifully designed with lush greenery and a calming, modern aesthetic.||In anticipation of our stay, I reached out to the hotel’s concierge with a warm note. My mother was flying in from abroad, and with Mother’s Day coming up, I hoped to make her visit feel a little extra special. I asked if the hotel offered any complimentary touches or family-friendly amenities, and also requested guidance on kid-welcoming dining and wineries. Disappointingly, I never received a reply. That lack of communication unfortunately set the tone for the service we experienced once we arrived.||The rooms were tastefully decorated and included all the basics, but lacked thoughtful details—no towel hooks in the shower area, very small nightstands, and we even noticed cobwebs on the ceiling. The pillows were surprisingly uncomfortable, which made it hard to get proper rest. It was clear that comfort wasn’t prioritized to the extent it should be at a hotel of this standard.||Service throughout our stay felt cold and impersonal. On multiple occasions, we tried to reach room service with no response. When I eventually called the front desk for tea and coffee, we were simply sent Nespresso pods and a kettle—no explanation, no warmth. The staff delivering items often came across as disinterested. Though the hotel partners with a restaurant for in-room dining, we were never able to access that service.||Compounding our disappointment was the fact that most of the town shuts down early in the week—a heads-up about this would’ve helped us better plan our meals and outings, especially with kids in tow.||The only staff member who truly stood out was Charmaine Louzao at the concierge, who was kind, helpful, and responsive when my child had a bad fall and we needed to visit the hospital. Her compassion and professionalism made a real difference.||Later, when I became ill in the middle of the night and asked the front desk for basic medication like Advil, they weren’t able to help. Even checkout was clunky, with the team struggling to sort out the daily credit for our two rooms.||Hotel Healdsburg has all the ingredients to be a memorable, high-end boutique experience: beautiful surroundings, a great location, and a tranquil vibe. But the lack of warmth, attentiveness, and basic responsiveness made it hard to fully enjoy our time there. We left feeling like we’d stayed at a stylish hotel that unfortunately doesn’t yet meet the standard of care its...
Read moreWe booked a courtyard suite, and specifically asked when booking if there was a door between the bedroom and living room and they said "yes" so we booked it. When we arrived everything went wrong. (1) When we pulled into the parking lot a woman decided to back out of a parking space all the way to the street, forcing us to back up all the way to the street, very uncomfortable and difficult. It turned out she was part of the hotel's valet team. She could have turned the car around and went around us, causing less discomfort to us. (2) We parked finally, then unloaded our bikes and bags. There were two attendants in the lot who just watched, offering no assistance. One of them just demanded our key while our hands were full of bags and bikes. I finally realized they were not going to offer help so I asked. The attendant then helped. (3) Our room did not have a door between the bedroom and the living room as promised. We discussed with the person at the front desk she said she was so sorry but she cannot help us. My husband said that was not acceptable. Eventually we discussed with the manager and he accused us of lying, that we never asked about the door. That was unacceptable to call us liars. WE DID ASK ABOUT THE DOOR. (4) We were starving, so we went to the pool to relax and have some lunch. We ordered two pizzas from the hotel menu. The pizzas came in a carryout box with napkins and plastic forks. No plates, no knives, no peppers/cheese. In addition, we were charged for delivery, room service and a service charge. When did eating at the pool become "room charge?" Also there was no indication that this was carryout and not coming from their kitchen. (5) The pool area was a dive. The water was filthy with leaves, dirt and other debris. The dirty towel box was overflowing. It was not nice and relaxing. At this point we called a nearby hotel that had...
Read moreGreat town, great location, nice vibes in the hotel in general. BUT. You are paying top dollar so as always it’s the little things that make the difference. I checked in a 6pm and was grateful for the cheese board and wine in the room. At the risk of sounding ungrateful…….the cheese had been outside in room temperature far too long (why not deliver when I have arrived?) and the wine was, frankly, cheap. It’s ‘free’ you may say, but you are in the middle of the most amazing wine country and without sounding like a wine snob don’t leave a bottle that rates 3.6 on Vivino, and tastes like it. Breakfast was included in my expensive room rate, and I was looking forward to it in the morning after a few glasses of (paid for) excellent local wine. Presented with a menu, I was told twice in no uncertain terms what I could order and couldn’t as part of the package. Not a relaxing start to the day, but fair enough I guess, though could I have a latte please? Yes sir but that will be 6 bucks extra. Given the price point of the room that was the wrong answer - it should have been ‘of course sir, how many would you like?’ The poached eggs were well cooked but the accompanying sourdough looked like it was 3 days old and everything piled on a huge mound of green cress - usual ploy to make it look like more food than it is. Motto of the story is slip the $42 breakfast and go to one of the many lovely local cafe’s nearby. Again nice hotel, staff all pleasant but at this price point it’s the little things that make the difference and on those it fails, hence...
