Although the night clerk was nice and professional, I would not stay here if you want to avoid bedbugs. We arrived in the evening late last week, around dark. Although struck by the lack of an elevator and the dingy carpet going up the stairs, I reserved judgment. The room was tidy, with 2 queen beds. It had been remodeled recently, you could tell by the smell and the freshness of the carpet, which I am assuming was new. We sat down at the little table and ate a pizza. After eating, my husband was still sitting there when a bug emerged from under the table lamp. He studied it for a bit then immediately told me that we needed to leave and went to get management. The desk clerk seemed incredulous that we would have seen a bug in there. He told me that when they have complaints, they just put a bedbug heater in rooms, but he’d had none about that room. He started removing the sheets, and spotted a black spot in the corner of the mattress, and immediately replaced the sheet, saying that he did not see anything. We noticed because we were watching; then, he pointed out that bedbugs have many legs, and the carcass didn’t. We pointed out that it was dead and the legs were curled up. He offered to give us another room and seemed shocked that we would leave, but after checking the Internet and comparing pictures, there was no doubt that it was a bedbug that we saw. Not being familiar with what type of bugs live in the area helped us in this endeavor. Otherwise, we might have come home with more than we bargained for! Overall, the prices here aren’t bad, and the clerk told us that they are booked solid almost every weekend. Just beware if you decide to stay here. I would even go to the extent of pulling back all of the sheets. For what it’s worth, the pillows looked brand new and fresh. I could even see the writing on the pillow itself through the pillowcases. It makes you wonder if they had been recently replaced for a reason? Here is the best photo we could capture without a macro camera, taken on a phone.

I traveled from Wyoming to Hot Springs for a business meeting and decided to stay overnight before making the 8-hour drive home. Anticipating the heat and traveling with my dog, I had called the property the day before to inquire about an early check-in. The person I spoke to rejected my request before I could offer to compensate for the extra time. After my meeting, I arrived at the hotel to find only two motorcycles in the parking lot, making an early check-in seem feasible. However, during check-in, the same person charged me a $20 pet fee, which was understandable. When we entered the room, the smell of the air freshener was overwhelmingly nauseating. Exhausted and sticky from the journey and heat, I decided to take a bath. I noticed the floor beneath the vinyl flooring was clearly damaged; as I filled the tub, the floor gave way and pinched my foot with the vinyl planks. I placed a towel on the floor to move around safely, only to discover it was brown upon inspection. The bathtub faucet was smashed but functional, the AC unit was noisy, and the toilet wouldn't flush. The overpowering scent of the air freshener woke me at 11:30 PM. Fed up at this point, my dog and I packed up and left. Even as we drove away, I was still gagging from the lingering smell in the room. I intend to report this place to the health department and have photos to substantiate my claims. This review is not from a "Karen" but from a 44-year-old woman who shares her house with four cats, two skunks, and a puppy. There is no excuse for such unhygienic conditions; it reflects sheer negligence. I do not seek an apology or a refund from the careless owner. All I want is for others to be aware of the true state of this establishment. Guy, take pride in your business—what's wrong with you?

Be aware this hotel has NO ELEVATOR so book accordingly if you require accessibility. If you're wanting a good distillation of how professionally this place is run, look no further than the wifi password, which is Nintendo 64. That's probably what the staff who aren't asleep at the front desk are doing, because there's algae on the bottom of the pool and if you dare wade into the 8 inches of froth in the hot tub, you'll be treated to all manner of grime lazily floating amongst the bubbles. Can't watch a basic NBA Conference Finals game, because they don't have TNT, although there are 2 channels of CSPAN to help you nod off for the evening. There's numerous carpet stains as you enter the room, and while I'm not crazy about the toilet paper rolls being half used, it bothers me more that they are loaded so the paper comes out against the wall. Not a great first impression, but the beds look clean and comfortable, so we'll hope against hope for a decent breakfast and count it as lesson learned. Set the thermostat to 61, and it shuts itself off around 72.Dollar Inn, which we've stayed at twice, is much quieter, cleaner, and half the price. I'll be returning there my next time through.

BEDBUGS!!! This place deserves negative stars and the owner should be investigated. I usually try to be as fair as possible when I leave reviews but I have never had such a bad experience at an establishment as I have had at this place ( 737 South 6th Street, Hot Springs, SD 57747 US ). My wife and I got a room here and were offered a monthly rate and paid cash. Upon inspection we immediately regretted our decision. The rooms were filthy and the pool and hot tub were disgusting. The bathroom by the pool was a single and not handicap accessible and did not have a lock on the door. Throughout the entire hotel the carpet was patchy and dirty and ruined looking. The walls were dirty even and the paint was coming off in places and their looked to be mold in places. The tub in our room was dirty and despite our efforts uncleanable. The outside of the grounds looked like it would've been nice at one time but the grass wasn't cut and was very overgrown and there were cigarette butts EVERYWHERE. We couldnt let our child run around because he kept picking them up. Unfortunately we paid cash before we had looked around because it was late and we were ready to lay down and when we asked they wouldnt give us a refund so we were stuck and decided to make the best of a dismal situation. Over the next few days and to our horror the employees were complaining to us that the owner was a crook and wouldnt pay them on time and sometimes never paid them at all! This made us very uncomfortable to say the least. About 9 days in to our stay we were approached by the owner Mr. Roop Brar Swachetan Bajwa and he was very sketchy and seemed like he might have been on some sort of drugs. He was extremely rude and demanded that we leave the property because the nice young woman that checked us in had taken our money along with the contents of his safe and fled. We were absolutely astonished to hear this information and appalled that he was asking us to leave due to the actions of one of his staff. We asked for a refund and he said that he wasn't going to give us a refund because she stole the money. I told him that I was very sorry to hear that but that it wasn't my responsibility to police his employees. I asked him if he filed a police report or notified the authorities to which he said no raising even more red flags that something was extremely off about this situation. I told him that I would be calling corporate. He threatened to call the police and I said im already calling them. Upon arrival the police were very cordial and understanding and they informed Mr. Roop that if he wanted us to leave then he would have to reimburse us. We quickly gathered our things and he hounded us as we were trying to leave. He was very menacing and threatening and caused myself, my wife and our baby to be very uncomfortable and on edge as we gathered our things and left. This is absolutely the worst and most unnerving, despicable, possibly criminal experience that we have ever had at any establishment anywhere. There are much much better places to stay in the lovely town of Hot Springs and even a tent would've been a 5 star accommodation compared to the horrible experience we had staying at the Baymont. There is absolutely no excuse for how we were treated or the deplorable conditions that the hotel was in. Thank goodness for the good officers that came to our defense and allowed cooler heads to prevail but I wouldn't let my dog stay at this dilapidated place or trust my family around Mr. Roop nor would I let anyone I care about work for him or stay at his establishment. If you are reading this then I hope you reconsider and find a decent place to enjoy your time in the beautiful Hot Springs. I hope that this place finds a new owner and decent management before something bad...

Just checked in quite late (after 11pm.) I think I woke the gentleman who checked us in. He was polite and welcoming. (Demeanor changed the next day.) However, when we got to the room... one bed had a moderately sized textured nasty brown mark on the white bedspread. I removed the bedspread from the bed and figured we'd be ok without it. Next we found out that the shower doesn't work. Water will turn on at the faucet in the tub but when the lever is pulled, no water comes out of the shower head (despite troubleshooting.) Third... TV doesn't seem to work. Not sure if it's the remote or the TV. I really didn't want to wake the front desk again, but I finally tried to call the front desk from the room but it doesn't ring and gives a busy signal (multiple attempts.) Tuesday bathroom light switch also turns on the bathroom fan which sounded horrible. A constant LOUD screeching noise that could even be heard from the hallway.

Edit: I let the same manager know about the issues this morning. He asked me if they could come to our room and check it out at 10am. I told him yes and that we would not be back to our room until late that evening (total of a 2 night stay.)

Upon our return, found the same issue with the shower and they left the dirty bedspread for us without replacing it and the fan was not fixed. I went down to talk to the same manager and let him know. He said someone checked it out and that there was no problem. I just had to lift the lever. I showed him my video that I had indeed been lifting the lever and that very little water comes trickling out despite what shower head setting it is on. I also showed him the video of the bathroom fan. You could hear the fan in the hallway. He "reassured" me that all the bathrooms sounded the same.

I told him we needed a different room so we could shower. He said there were no rooms. I conveniently let the loud fan video play on repeat until he literally asked me to turn it off and then he would look for another room. He found us another room. I told him I wanted to see the room/shower before moving my family.

The new room: Greeted by a large live spider in the tub and small bugs crawling around the drain. The shower head did work. The bathroom sink had black hair/ shavings and a little bit of standing water. The best part.... the sink was not even connected to the counter top! The door lock was not intact and looked less than safe.

This is worse than subpar. No shower for my family for 2 days.

I want to figure out how to attach the pictures and videos to this review. I will be contacting Expedia to let them know that this place shouldn't be offered...

DO NOT STAY HERE. DONT EVEN GET WITHIN 100 FEET OF THIS PLACE. okay dont get me wrong i grew up coming up to hotsprings my entire life and i always stayed at the baymont. It was lovely. But as of lately they have just seemingly given up. Apon walking into my stay the halls smelled just HEAVILY of eastern asian cooking and inscense. I dont mind the smell nor am i prejuduce by any means but i mean it seriously was so strongly nausiating. It just punched my nostrils. And then we go down to the pool. Oh lord. The hot tub made my skin burn and itch. Wayyyy too much chlorine. And the pool had this weird white algea type stuff filming the top🤨 i have no idea what it was but you couldnt see an inch down to the bottom....... My boyfriend goes to use the main shared bathroom by the pool and one of the workers decided to not even knock... UNLOCK THE DOOR!!!!! And open it and my boyfriend heard him run into another room. We couldnt get room service for the life of us. We got a three night stay. Our toilet clogged idk how many times. The pool area was so HOT. like literally POURING water from the steam on the windows. Had to get up and open them all myself. Actually so much condensation that the ROCK FLOORS were growing mold. And dont even get my started on the aesthetics and sanitaryness of this place. Wallpaper peeling off the walls crumbs in my bed. Pretty sure the pool made my kiddos sick. Me and my boyfriend were sitting on the back gazibo (with the string lights all busted) and smoking and one of the workers (who i guess lives there) with the window wide open was staring (and im pretty sure fonucating but im not 100%) and he had no shame about it. The workers were no where to be seen for a long time. This place is just absolutly discusting. The only thing they got going for them is ive seen no bugs other than in the pool. There are stains everywhere and nothing seemed clean. I made the mistake of walking around my ROOM without shoes on and it turned the bottom of my feet black. Pretty sure they rummaged through our room when we left. We had stuff missplaced. Nothing missing. But definitly strange. If you do end up staying here please keep your valubles up and hope you dont get sick. Absolutly no water pressure. And honestly this place should be shut down it is a hugeee hazard. I would give this place 0 stars if i could. Only nice thing is the bugs and there wasnt really alot of ruckus. But way over priced for what your getting and its considered a low priced hotel. Honestly you couldnt pay me to...
