They have a big sign in lights that almost verbatim says "$42.00 a night Sunday-Thursday." Well I'm staying at a hotel that is like $65 (after tax i think it's $57 before tax so %15 a night more than this place advertises) a night next door and that's when I book on booking.com or Expedia and get the absolute cheapest rate. While I really like my hotel I cask this Days Inn and ask what the rate is and he says $71 after tax. I ask for the actual rate and he says something like $63. I explain that his huge sign specifically says otherwise. He then informs me that rate is when you break down the weekly rate into day by day. I said that would make since and be slightly less dishonest however I bring up that.... it says Sunday-Thursday and it says that specifically to let people know you won't get this cheap rate on the weekends. He's obviously caught and he knows i know that and I know he knows i know that so I ask the next question. What is your weekly rate sir? This time he replies that he is not sure and he will have to call his manager. If course I reply, how can you say that the sign has your weekly rate broken down by the day for 4 of the 7 days but not know the weekly rate? What was it when someone checked in earlier today or yesterday I'm sure that's on your computer I'll hold. After that wouldn't you believe it.... we were disconnected! I travel for work. They pay us an untaxed weekly amount to do with and live as we please and unfortunately I have seen this many times before with Wyndham properties. Wyndham by the way is my absolute most, and really only, HATED hotel/motel company. They post signs like that and if the hotel is empty the abide by it however once they're doing okay they keep it up because it does draw more people in. People that stay at these hotels don't have a lot of money so the see the sign every day on their way to work and they either get a ride or Uber over there thinking it's the advertised price then once they show up they're kind of stuck or at minimum obligated to stay. No one wants to inconvenience a friend or coworker who's helping them and paying for an Uber to visit another property would cost as much as just paying the extra $15. Unfortunately Wyndham is not the only one guilty of this by any means but I will say they are by far the most difficult to deal with on several different fonts. Based on the reviews it sounds like I am just thankful I'm not in a situation like so many others where I'm forced to stay here. Sorry it's so long but I want to give people the opportunity to make good decisions before it's too late. There's are 2 hotels/motels close by and i promise you that is you book with 3rd party online you'll get the same rate and a much better experience. At the Jackson Hotel I'm treated very very well, my room is very big and clean, and I am given coffee and a pre packaged muffin every day at 5am and they really do everything they can to assure i enjoy my stay. Still too expensive the weekends are like 72 or 77 or something but it is a nice safe...
Read moreI wish I could give it a 0 star review. We were traveling from St. Louis to the middle of nowhere Tennessee to pick up a dog on Saturday. We figured we would probably just stay in a hotel/motel Friday night to make the drive a little less crazy on Saturday. We booked our room on Thursday evening and arrived close to midnight on that Friday. We arrived and there was a gentleman standing in the shadows near the entrance to the night counter with a towel draped around his shoulders. He had no affiliation with the motel and it could definitely be frightening if someone were alone and had to walk by him to get to the window. The man working the front desk was extremely kind and gracious. He gave us our room key and pointed us in the right direction. To say we were disgusted by the room would be an understatement. The carpet was pulling up around the edges of the room, the corner by the air-conditioning unit had clearly not been cleaned in a long time as evidenced by the amount of dust that was all over the floor. There were even dead bugs laying on the ground. The ceiling was starting to crumble in some areas as well. The beds were so disgusting and stained that we “slept” in the clothes we came in and “Slept” above the covers. I think the word sleep in quotation marks needs no explanation. If it had not been around midnight after a 5 hour car ride, we would have packed our stuff back up and gone to another hotel. I have pictures to corroborate my story. In addition, as I went out to my car to get my phone charger, I was hit up by three people for various things. One person was so drunk that he did not know where his hotel was. Someone had looked at his room key and couldn’t even figure out if that hotel was even in Jackson. The next person claimed they had not had anything to eat for days and needed money. When I told them my wallet was upstairs, I deflected him to the drunk man who had a bag of food from the gas station. He then said, “What! He told me he didn’t have anything,” and started off after him. Then, on my way back up to the room, I was stopped by another man who needed a ride to another part of town and was willing to give me “gas money” to take him there. It was allegedly his birthday and no one came to pick him up. When I told him my wife would kill me if I left her (at that point, she would have) he moved on to the next car and harassed them for much longer than he harassed me. I will probably never stay at a Days Inn ever again, and I may never stay at another Wyndham property again either, if that is the standard that they hold their...
Read moreIf I could give it negative stars I would... Went to the front desk and got the keys to our room, but they weren't sure if our room was clean or not. They went to check and it wasn't, so they put us in a "better" room. Walking up to the room you could see curtains hanging down and mold growing on them. Walked in and it was extremely humid and the air was thick. Big wet spot in front of the fridge and the paint was peeling off the shelves of the fridge. Beds were also very wet. Lots of plaster was peeling off the walls and in our bathroom. Dried up gum was stuck to the carpet in front of our sink. There was no cover on the outlet and there were broken tooth picks and crumbs behind the desk. Picture on the tv was fuzzy, went into the bathroom and it looked like the tub on the floor above us was leaking into our room. Our tub would not stop dripping water and there were gnats flying around in it. Went to the front desk to ask for another towel and they were very rude. Went to the vending machine after that and it smelled strongly like chemicals and the food was crumbling. When I went back to the room I tried locking the doors because we were in a rough area, but the bolt lock wouldn't work. I then noticed a crack along the door maybe half an inch wide that let you see outside along with pencil marks scribbled on the door. I felt like if I stayed the night in there I would have gotten pneumonia or something worse because the air was so bad. We decided not to stay and when I turned in the keys and told the front desk why, she didn't apologize or seem concerned at all. I'm surprised this place hasn't been listed as a biohazard. I have been to a lot of Days Inns and this is probably the worst experience...
