Let me first say I understand the area is packed with people due to hurricane ida BUT I will NEVER stay at this location again! I will also be letting family & friends know if my experience. On 9/3/21 we had a reservation at this location because my son was flying from Mississippi to northern ca. We had booked a room with 2 beds because it was myself, my fiance and my 17yr old son. When we attempted to check in we were told that the were full even though I had a reservation. The ONLY room available was a king size bed. I advised the man that we could not all for in a king bed. He then stated that he would give me extra blankets to "make a bed on the floor for my son". I tried nicely to explain to him that my son is 17 and 6'3". There was NO WAY I was going to make a bed on the floor for my son, it's not like my son is a 5yr old who can curl up on some blankets to sleep. After attempting to find another hotel (which was impossible due to 🌀 ida) we talked as a family and decided we would figure out a way to make it work. When my fiance and I went back to the office the man was in the phone. Apparently there was a cancellation and a 2 bed room was now available. Great news! Or so we thought. We looked at the room and thought we were set. This was about 6pm. We dropped some belongings in the room and left to go adventure around town. We arrived back at about 10pm or so to eat and settle in for the night. I attempted to turn on the tv to catch the news. I'd turn it on and within 90 seconds it would turn off. After 3 or 4 times of it turning off I called the front desk. No answer so I went to the desk. The young man sent a gentleman to look at it. After about a hour he got the tv to stay on long enough to reset the channels. Tells me once it goes to 100% it is good. Okay, great! Well that was short lived. After about 35 min the tv was turning itself off again! So after trying to reset channels again myself it was now about 2am.I went back to the front desk again to let the man know the tv was not working again but I was going to try to sleep since my son had a early flight. I have PTSD and HAVE TO have tv noise to sleep due to past trauma. Needles to say I did NOT get much if any sleep. Yes I tried checking the power cords and HDMI/coaxel cables to make sure they were fully in place. The rooms are not insulated (nor newly renovated as stated on site and on the websites) I understand it was a Friday night too but even at 2-4am people were hanging out and being very loud outside/on the balcony's. We got up at 7:30am to get ready to head to the airport. I attempted to turn on the tv to watch the news. With everything going on in the world I wanted to make sure nothing was going on with our airlines as I'm fixin to put my child on a plane across the us. Well again the tv wouldn't stay on. So we got dressed, packed the car and returned the key. I am advised the lady at the desk that the tv was still not working and asked when the gm would be there. I attempted to contact the gm yesterday but he was not in. Come to find out the gm is the same man who checked us in and tried to have my son sleep on the floor. 😮💨 After finally making contact with the gm this morning and asking for a partial refund I was told NO point blank but next time I'm down in Jackson, come stay with us and I will give you a deal.. UMMM.. NO THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME! I also advised Mr.Patel (the gm) that I would be writing a review on several sites to worn others and contacting Redroof Inn customer care team which I have done. So for y'all who took the time to read this in full, please save your money and stay somewhere other then this location in Jackson, Ms. There are other locations with excellent customer care and not...
Read moreI have stayed at this hotel a number of times over few years. The first time I stayed here. I had the most horrible experience. I was staying at the hotel for a week. The rooms were absolutely discussing. The room I stayed in was very dirty. It wasn't like they didn't have someone clean it. But it seemed as if they just changed the the bedding & restocked the toiletries. I found roaches in all parts of the room. I found that every time I passed the security guard. He would be sleeping in his car, that was parked in the front of the hotel. I had every right to not feel safe. I had come back to the hotel after working that night. It was about 1am on a Friday. I was getting out of my car with my girlfriend. When we were approached by a man in a pickup truck with 3 other men in it. They started to mumble something that was inaudible. So I began to approach the vehicle. As my girlfriend was making her way to the room. The driver jumped out & put a 45cal pistol. He demanded me to empty my pockets. Foolish me, I would not give into his demands. Eventually they gave up. After my girlfriend was screaming & I wouldn't give them my wallet. We tried to get the attention of the security guard. But as I said earlier. He was fast asleep in his car. Even after we woke him up. He was of no help. Along with any of the other staff on duty. This was a couple of years ago. So I figured I would give them another chance. Since I noticed they were doing renovations to the rooms. And I think they changed ownership(not 100% sure if they have new owners). I have to say that they did a very nice job on cleaning the rooms & modernizing them. I'm still not sure about the safety here. But I do at least see a security guard roaming at times & sitting in his car(he's at least awake in his car. Unlike the last one that was always asleep). It seems like they have been making substantial changes for the better. So far this stay has been much better then my previous ones. There is still plenty to be done. But it looks like they are working towards making it cleaner, safer &...
Read moreI don't even want to give this place one star. I like the convenience of a ground floor room. When I pulled up to what seemed to be a fairly vacant property, I was told they didn't have ground room floors available. I notice a little later when I was leaving (more on that in a bit) that the ground level floors looked like they were uninhabitable.
I checked into a room on the 2nd floor. After moving all of my stuff in, I took a minute to look at the room and immediately felt that I couldn't stay there. I've never in my life felt so uncertain about a hotel room. I pulled back the sheets to find multiple hairs in the sheets. There were 2 or 3 dead cockroaches lying around the floor. The microwave had a huge dent in the side and the mini-fridge didn't seem much better. Both these utilities, the pantry closet, the dresser, desk and sitting chair looked like they were salvaged by someone throwing the furniture out. There was also a discarded pair of boxers hanging on the hanging rack.
When I went back to the front desk to tell them I just needed to cancel my reservation, I noticed the "NO REFUND" signs on the window and desk. I wish I would have seen this upon checking in. That would have been a good enough red flag. The girl at front desk told me she couldn't give me a refund, but could reassign my room. I had to check it out first. It was "better" compared to the dump I was first assigned, but not too much of a step up. She was combative about me canceling my room and not giving me a refund. I asked if this was property policy or corporate policy and she wouldn't answer. Only kept stating "No refunds". I left and went across the street and spent about 4x's as much as I had planned on spending to stay at the Holiday Inn Express (including pet fee).
I ended up talking to corporate and they were very helpful. I would highly recommend that you do not choose this property. I have usually enjoyed staying at Red Roof Inn's. The pet-friendliness is a large part of why I choose the chain. This property is a sore eye...
