March 2025. My husband and I stayed here for one night one day and had two rooms for other family members. We had one king bed with a walk-in shower and another room with two queen beds. Each room had mini refrigerators, Desk, rolling chair, and television. The room was clean. An ice water container was available on the coffee bar (no coffee at night).
The television had spotty service and the screen pixelated 3-4 times in a 30 min timeframe. We think this is a local issue because the Hampton Inn was next to the Colosseum. We noticed that our room was missing an ice bucket, which we were able to quickly retrieve from downstairs. Our other room had no problems at all.
Don’t be thrown off if the area seems a little ominous at first - we arrived late and due to the fence surrounding the Colosseum and a charming iron fence surrounding the hotel and parking lot, it might seem concerning. However, once we realized that the iron fence was for our security, and the area seemed well lit, we were reassured and were able to park our vehicle close to the hotel.
We did not experience any of the other issues that were relayed in some of the other reviews. Even though a school group was also staying at the hotel it was very quiet and we all got a good nights sleep.
We think that the highlight of the hotel was the morning breakfast which included real eggs and decent sausage rounds as well as the standard delicious Belgian waffle that you make yourself. There was a good selection of apples and a good coffee bar.. My husband is a big fan of grits and very much enjoyed the hot grits that were available for breakfast. There were bagels, cereal and hard boiled eggs. Loved the fact that breakfast was from 6-10am. Loved the fact that breakfast was from 6-10am.
Both rooms had sufficient towels that were clean and of good quality. Both sets of beds were comfortable and the pillowcases, comforters and sheets were clean on all the beds. There were two full-size luggage carts that were readily available when we arrived and departed.
The Hampton team was delightful, from the front desk to the lady staffing the breakfast kitchen. We look forward to...
Read moreDowntown Jackson has a bad rap. I get it. The roads are awful, the landscaping nothing compared to the richer outskirts. I understand this and see why this is the impression you get and tacked along with that is the reputation of the Hampton Inn and other surrounding hotels.
We were there during the weekend of ComicCon next door at the coliseum. Not only was the hotel full to bursting due to that being in town, but there were tons of displaced families due flooding and power outages from the tornadoes a week ago. The staff were absolutely the most patient, polite, helpful, and kind despite there being such a large load on them during this time.
We were given a King Suite on the 4th floor. Did it have some issues cosmetically imperfect? Sure but it was impeccably clean. Whoever does the house keeping does an excellent job. That goes for the long, entry, and breakfast areas too. The AC was super cold (and if you aren’t from Mississippi you don’t know how much that matters from May-November here) and quiet.
The microwave was new, super clean and worked great. The small fridge was super clean and worked flawlessly.
Safety is very important and I did not feel the least bit unsafe staying here. Even needed to go to my vehicle after 11 and did so without incident or a feeling of unsafe. There was always at least two people on the premises paying very close attention to guests even beyond bustling hours. I really appreciated this.
The parking lot was tidy and so was the arrival area outside. Both elevators worked and there was always fresh coffee all day and evening down stairs.
The little snack and drink area stayed well stocked despite the packed hotel. Yet another testament to the employees that take pride in what they do at this hotel.
I will always stay here. If nothing else due to how my family was treated and the service we received.
Ps. Never seen showers, sinks and toilets that clean in...
Read moreThe location was ideal and conveniently situated near the Civil Rights Museum. Antoinette was exceptionally friendly and made us feel very welcome to the Hilton Hotel brand. (I would like to respond to another comment that mentioned the face shield in their review. I did not find it bothersome as I work in the healthcare field and am aware that COVID-19 is still prevalent. It is a necessary precaution. Additionally, I understand that she may have a compromised immune system and needs to protect herself from the public and even if she didnt have a compromise immune system it is still her right to protect herself and/or others.)
However, there were a few issues with our initial room, number 202 AC. The air conditioning unit was extremely noisy. I contacted the front desk, and Antoinette promptly addressed the situation. She acknowledged the noise and immediately arranged for us to move to a different room while also submitting a work order for the faulty air conditioning unit.
In our second room, number 212, the air conditioning functioned properly, and the noise level was significantly reduced but still noticeable.
During breakfast, we noticed that the bagels with toppings did not seem fresh, and the citric peach drink appeared to be watered down.
Additionally, the lobby, dining room floor, and elevator were in need of mopping. The surfaces felt sticky, and the sound of footsteps echoed unpleasantly.
The exterior of the hotel could benefit from some improvements to enhance its curb appeal. The entry fence requires repair or replacement, and the dead shrubs and trees should be removed. The Crape Myrtles could use some trimming, and the property would greatly benefit from landscaping with colorful plants. Perhaps adding some knockout roses would enhance the visual appeal of the...
