First off I wish I could give a NEGATIVE STAR!! But ok, We’re not from Jackson, but we visited today 8/20/22 and wanted Cook Out so we pulled in and got out ! I needed to use the restroom so I did so but I noticed a lady and a man in the men restroom (yes together) they closed the door when they saw us (me and my husband) they stayed in there so long my husband ended up using the ladies restroom after I came out!!! But, o k !! So I’m still puzzled! But o well.. Maybe this just happens from time to time ! After We got done using the restroom we goes to the front counter to order!! A lady that had ordered yells “YALL GOT CUSTOMERS” (I’m assuming she’s a regular here cause of how she yelled at them) so a lady comes to the register and just stares at us meanwhile the men restroom door opens and the cook comes out the restroom WITH GLOVES ON and proceeds to start cooking !!!! Me and my husband looked at one another in total shock, but Everybody looked at us like we was crazy!! Sooo I said “he just came out the bathroom with those gloves!” They looked at us like it was totally normal for him to do that🤷🏽♀️ !!!! WE LEFT!!!!! They never have to worry about us ever coming back!!!! That was just too da** nasty !!!!!!! How can u be in a PUBLIC RESTROOM with gloves on that your handling anything that someone has to...
Read moreI always enjoy this Cookout. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and it's cheap. So cheap.
My biggest complaint isn't about the location at all, but rather the way the menu is set up. The last time I went to Cookout, I ordered a "regular barbecue," (the way it reads on the menu). I was given the barbecue charbroiled chicken sandwich. When I took it back up, I was told I'd have to order "pulled pork" to get a barbecue sandwich and that a barbecue sandwich is a barbecue chicken sandwich. Err okay.
There are more things on the menu that are like that. Too many things that sound like one thing but are actually another. I don't care for the whole "you just have to go through trial and error and learn the lingo because that's the way Cookout is" sort of thing. It's confusing where it doesn't have to be.
It's okay though. I've always been treated with kindness here. You can't find a better box combo for $5. The chicken wrap. The pulled pork. The fries. The tea. Oh yeah, did I mention the chicken wrap? Give it a go.
Is the line long? Probably. Will you get your food in less than 5 minutes? Likely. Is the quality of the food worth the...
Read moreThe service was excellent. Pam took our order and was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided friendly and welcoming service. The food was served promptly. My husband ordered the chicken strips, onion rings, and fried cheese curds. I had the charbroiled chicken club sandwich, fries, fried cheese, and hushpuppies. Regrettably, the fountain drinks lacked the expected level of carbonation. The chicken strips seemed to be pre-frozen and had too much batter. The onion rings were decent but were smaller and fewer in number compared to other restaurants. The fried cheese curds were average. For those with a preference for charbroiled chicken, the chicken sandwiches would likely be a suitable choice. The fries were satisfactory. However, the hushpuppies, while enjoyable, seemed incongruous with the overall menu offerings. My husband enjoyed the Butterfinger milkshake, which he compared to a Dairy Queen Blizzard. The restroom requires attention, as it lacks paper towels, and the floor is in a...
