We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express, which I will never veer from again for a BW. My husband said he stayed here while they were remodeling, so it should be nicer than before. So we stayed. After checking in, we received our keys, which were needed to acres the gate for parking. The key didn’t work for the door to the building. We walked back to the front with our bags, only to be stopped by the gate. No access. I called the hotel and she asked which door we were at. She opened the gate for us and THEN told us that the door we used didn’t work but all the other doors do. That would have been great info to have beforehand.
Although renovated, the place looks subpar. The sofa pillows in the room were super flat and didn’t appear clean. That’s ok, cause it’s the bed I’m more interested in. I will say, I slept very well. We were here for a night to rest from a long 18 hour drive from the weather in the Midwest. Our flight was canceled on Christmas Day and our only option to get home was by car. With that being said, enters Antoinette, the front desk clerk.
Before I get into Antoinette, last night, we received a phone call around 11pm. When my husband attempted to answer, no one was there. Now, this morning, I tried calling the front desk to get a late check out of 20 minutes. It was already almost 20 minutes after 11am, so aware I’m calling late. I had to do so from my cell phone because the same phone that rang last night did not work this morning.
Antoinette informed me that the hotel does not have late check out. I asked for 20 minutes. She said, “Well, it’s already after checkout and I’d you needed it, you should have called an hour in advance.” So, first she said there is no such thing, then she said I should’ve asked sooner. Which is it? Upon getting the receipt and returning the keys, Antoinette had her young child behind the desk eating Burger King. Not sure if this was ok’d by management but apparently, she needed accommodations but couldn’t return the same accommodation for us.
We will NEVER choose this place again and I would not...
Read more1st room had bedbugs as diagnosed by RN at Veterans hospital. I had outpatient surgery then had to switch hotel rooms ( I'm from Oklahoma and the Veterans administration uses them) 2nd room had stain on one bed and blood stains on 2nd comforter. Hole in one comforter, ripped curtains missing drawer in night stand and missing hair dryer. I asked for fresh linen and was verbally assaulted by house keeper and her husband who I was told is head of housekeeping Kenny. They yelled at me and my son said they hat Veterans (me) and hate the VA thought they had power to kick us out. Said they have great eyesight and hatefully demanded I show them the blood. General manager must condone bedbugs and abusive behavior as he never attempted to speak with me to I don't know apologize. I never got room service the whole 7 days surely someone could have checked on me. They have a contract to take care of out of town Veterans in for surgical procedures and they condone the hate from housekeeping. We were told housekeeping is racist and the General Manager is aware but they are the only housekeeping who live on the 3rd floor. Hot breakfast was served warm never heated properly or maintained temperature to kill bacteria and again serving this to Veterans who just had surgery. Dangerous neighborhood but is gated which doesn't stop bullets and yes I was outside when people were arguing just off property with a gun drawn. Yes I told the front desk the reply is I'm sure someone has called the police that's why we have a gate....hmm metal fence doesn't stop bullets... Veterans and everyone else beware. Front desk and young man who assisted them during the day were also courteous. The Damage had already been done by abusive housekeeping. I didn't take a picture of blood on comforter as when I saw it I immediately called for fresh linen as I was grossed out. Pictures of bed bug bites as diagnosed by RN. They did switch our room which resulted...
Read moreI know. You'd think a five star review would be fake, but to be completely honest, my experience here was amazing. I booked a room for one night for Valentine's Day (about 3 days ago from my time of writing). It was only $100 (fees and taxes included- $89 without). The quality, the bed (heavenly 🤤🤍), the quiet, the view (we were overlooking the interstate). I very much enjoyed my stay. They had a microwave, refrigerator, and a pretty decent tv. My husband brought his game system and it worked and showed great (please bring an HDMI cord for obvious reasons). And guys, the BATHROOM?! 😍😍 Nice tub. Beautiful counter. Never seen better. You even have a sitting area in your room. And they provide coffee. My experience was absolutely flawless. I've been to a few hotels, but the first the very first time I got one on my own. If you're anything like me, there is a $100 deposit fee that I knew nothing about (only because I'm inexperienced about how hotels work.). They release it back to you once the room has been checked and free of any damages.
Alright. Last thing. This hotel is located JUST outside the entrance to the Mississippi State Fair grounds. And directly, DIRECTLY across from a waffle house and a Whataburger (both 24 hours. You're seriously within a 1min walking distance. Not exaggerating! One more thing (this is more of a tip) from what I've seen, prices are cheaper going directly through the hotel's online site.
Guys, please don't think this review is fake. I wouldn't go through the trouble of writing all this if it was. Hope you enjoy your stay.
P.S. They have wifi, breakfast until 9am, a self laundry, and an outside pool....
