Fair & Coliseum Commission — Local services in Jackson

No Security at the front doors. I don't think metal detectors were even working. People were removing phones and metal and depositing them on the table & walking through very orderly considering Zero Staff to monitor and that was less than 60 or 90 minutes to the event!! No Ushers or Staff were found! Lots of able-body guests in the Handicapped Sections hogging seats, over 50% of the groups! My mom had to stand behind my dad for an hour! One lady who had 3 seats held, eventually gave her a seat as the event started. Parking was also a mess!! There are 6 driveways on the west side, that make navigation a nightmare, which would be much better served as parking or increase walkers safety!!! Two elevators and both on the same side of the building when all seats are on the 2nd floor is not enough, esp as small as the elevator was! And stairs are quite steep for those with knee or other ailments. Not an...

This year, it seems, the fair grounds are cleaner. The bathrooms' attendants have done a wonderful job. The animals at the petting zoo were well cared for. Most of all, the staff are much friendlier this year than they were in previous occasions. The pig races drew quite a large crowd of adults and children. The presenters were very funny. The noise level was tolerable through the midway but I would still protect a baby's hearing if I were the parent of one. Had a great time....

I used to come to this show many times when I used to live in a Jackson area. Then I stopped because it was getting worse and worse every time they ran it. Prices are high, number of vendors is low, it is definitely not what it used to be. This year the price of admission is $9. I suppose big online fun auction sites done killed it.
