HORRIBLE!!!! If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. The hotel is in a great location, and the inside is up to date and new. However, the staff is very rude and disrespectful. My boyfriend and I stayed here for an overnight "staycay". We are residents of Jacksonville Beach, but just wanted a night away. We have a 4 year old, and time to ourselves is a rare event. We checked in, and were gone most of the day out with friends. When we returned later that night, the automatic doors were locked and we had to use our room key to get in. The woman behind the counter loudly and very rudely asked us if we were staying at the hotel. Obviously if we just got in with our room key, we were guests. We had been looking forward to getting into the pool the entire day, and there were no signs on the inside lobby door to the pool stating a time it closed. We went up to the room and changed and came down. We hadn't been on the patio for more than a minute, when a maintenance man flings open the same door we can out, and yells at us across the pool that we have to GET OUT! In shock that I "a paying customer" was being spoken to in such a disrespectful way, I acknowledged what he said and assured him we were coming, and weren't aware the pool was closed. My boyfriend had just lit a cigarette and was taking a little bit longer than me, so the maintenance man again screamed that he needed to get up and get out. At this point I was getting very angry, and replied that we heard what he said, we were literally walking towards him and he needed to calm down because he was being extremely rude. We were not intoxicated, we did not even have any alcohol with us, and were not resisting his request what so ever. He continued to say that he didn't have to do anything, and that he didn't need to calm down. He was speaking and treating us like we were two underage teenagers that had snuck into the pool with a case of beer. I am a very educated 27 year old, with a family, and a full-time job, who paid for a room (which was not cheap) just like everyone else. As soon as we made it to the door, he stormed out and rode his golf cart across the road to the hotel across the street. I was enraged. I proceeded to go up to the counter to the woman who had already been rude to us on our entry in about 30 minutes before. I told her what had happened and she replied very rudely that, "yes the pool was closed". At no point did she apologize for the manner in which we were spoken to or how we were treated. Even more angry at this point for still being treated with extreme disrespect, I advised her that I would be writing a online review and a letter to her supervisor. Very sarcastically she said "ok good, I will too, and our stories will match." The employees here obviously need an extreme course on customer service, and if nothing else, a lesson in how to just be a decent human being and speak to someone else. I feel that I completely wasted my money on an establishment that has no regard for their paying customers what so ever. I will absolutely NEVER stay here again, just for the fact that I will not support an establishment that hires employees who treat their customers this way. I am appalled. I myself work daily in customer service, and would never in a million years speak to a customer in that matter even if they were being rude to me, not to mention speak to a customer who is being respectful and not engaging in any sort of aggressive belligerent behavior. These employees...
Read moreThis is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in via a Marriott property. I travel all throughout the US and Overseas on business and this is by far the worst one. I asked for another room but the lady at the front desk told me there are no rooms available. My husband (William) and I checked into the Fairfield Inn & Suites and upon entering our room, it had a little bit of a smell but not too bad. However, when we looked at the bed, it looked like someone had been laying on the pillows, they were messed up and pushed in like someone had been laying on them, the sheets on the bed was not pulled all the way down the mattress and the sheets underneath the blanket looked very wrinkled and like someone had been laying on them. This wasn't event the worst part. The desk where I played my laptop had food crumbs and stuff that looked like sugar, so I took a bacterial wipe to clean it and the wipe ended up being dark brown, so we wiped down both of the end tables of which the wipe for those was also brown and then the dresser where the TV is sitting we wiped it down just to be on the safe side and because it had dust on it and that wipe actually was dirtier than the other two wipes from the other tables. Now move on to the bathroom, the shower looked pretty clean but the rack where the towels was sitting was filthy!!! I mean the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a hotel. At first I thought it was rust but as I wiped it with a wipe it looked like blood and the stains was coming off and rust will not just simply wipe off. It was all on the underside of the metal shelf. I then wiped down the sink just so I could get new towels and place them on the sink because even after I showed the photos to the lady at the front desk, all she said to me was; let me get housekeeping to take care of it. Also, the towels on the rack had a long black hair on it as well which was disgusting in itself! Still no other rooms available they said yet again the parking lot is pretty empty but then who knows what the other rooms look like! I am extremely shocked by the condition of this room and the lack of cleanliness and it just astounds me that when you tell the front desk about the condition of your bed looking like someone had laid on the pillows and the sheets and they apologized lightly about it but then I take pictures of the wipes and the conditions on the room and show the lady at the front desk but she seems to not be phased by it and again simply says, let me get someone up to your room to take care of it. It should never have looked this way in the first place and to the point that my wife was crying and extremely upset! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Go across the street and stay at the Courtyard. Here are 4 photos of some of the wipes that we used, the others were already thrown in the trash can before my wife decided to...
Read moreI made my reservations online and I always do so that I can enjoy my platinum elite perks; however, it got rolled into a group reservation. I was unable to enjoy early check-in so got a less than acceptable room. The ride to the room was any eye opener as well - only one small elevator and it was very, very rickety and terribly slow. When I entered the room, I realized it had 2 very tired looking double beds (they were very lumpy) and a postage stamp-sized refrigerator and NO microwave (standard fare in the other Fairfield Inns in which I have stayed). The bathroom had dirty towels hung next to the sink in the bathroom and a half-consumed bottle of mouthwash on counter with the other meager amenities that a Fairfield Inn and Suites offers. I called the front desk and the person told me that he would find me another room and he didn't know why I didn't get upgraded in the system to one of the empty suites that were available for the duration of my stay. When 2 members of my team checked out Thursday, they unraveled the mystery why the first room I checked into was dirty - housekeeping cleans rooms for people who are checking out BEFORE they have checked out!!! Obviously, there is a disconnect between occupancy and housekeeping. which underscores a management issue.
I inspected the bathroom thoroughly to ensure it was clean before I began to unpack. Upon return from dinner, I went to bed and realized that the AC was blowing in my room and the HVAC unit had no display. The separate one in the Living Room did and I could turn it on low heat. I had to hunt for the thermostat for the one for the bedroom - it was in the entryway and I could not figure out how to open in to turn on the heat and simply turned the AC up to a very high temperature. I froze that night due to the skimpy covers on the very lumpy bed. Maintenance fixed the problem the next day.
The walls in the rooms are paper thin - apparently no one had been in the room next to my bed the previous night of my stay. I had an early morning flight and after dinner and packing, I was headed to bed early. Just as I started to doze off, I could hear the father in the room next to me reading a bedtime story to his young daughter. It was just their normal speaking voices. Between that and the drunken rowdies that kept me awake outside the hotel @ 1 AM, I had very little sleep that night.
The breakfast buffet is good by Fairfield Standards. A nice selection of standard...
