We stayed in Jacksonville for 12 days with the original plan to book another hotel halfway through, but we enjoyed Hyatt Place so much that we just extended our stay.
We had a corner unit on the 5th floor, overlooking the south side of our parking area with all the restaurants. It was nice to have big windows to watch the rain and lightning that would come through (our visit was end of July and few days August)
Spoiled for choice or restaurants around. Take a drive to Jax beach side, and visit Oaxaca Club for a margarita and some food. Walk on the pier and watch all the people swim and surf in shark water. (Not kidding we watched a man pull 3 baby sharks off his hook during our short walk to throw them back in)
If you want fine dining, visit RH Rooftop for their delicious salads and a nice glass of wine. We walked through the store to see their furniture before heading upstairs which was a delight.
Across the street from the hotel is Whiskey Cake, a restaurant with bourbon drinks and dishes. Must try their only-one dessert they have and sip on a bourbon cocktail!
I could go on but I’ll save those Google reviews for separate posts.
The Hyatt Place had a lovely west-facing patio on a small lake. You can grab a drink and sit to watch sunset. Or, take a dip in their pool.
The team were lovely. Some were quirky with character which was nice to be greeted with.
The room was lovely, I would say it was one of the most comfiest beds I’ve slept on in a hotel in a while.
My only odd feedback would be that our fridge door opened up opposite to the desk door (for example, you would swing open the desk door to the left, to then reach in for the fridge and pull it open to the right) with the desk chair being a big clunky and in the way. It’s not a big deal, just a small design flaw.
The mirror in the bathroom has a nice light around it, but it sits far from the sink with a small shelf in the back, so getting up-close to mirror is impossible, unless you’re really tall. There’s a stand mirror closet by the door, but not too much light. (Keep in mind every room is different so you may not see these things)
All-in-all, I would recommend this place for its incredible location, to shop at the stores and dine all around, and for its cozy room, great staff (and also small coffee station every...
Read moreI opted of this property based on positive reviews on their service and lake view rooms. My experience was completely opposite. We were not greated when we stepped in. At the time of check-in, I checked if as per my request, a room with lake view was allocated. The receptionist cryptic reply without even checking her screen was; it was not the category we had booked and they were fully booked. I asked her if there was a price difference, I was willing to pay, to which she said "we are fully booked". See the attached pic of the parking lot taken around 11 pm. It doesn't look to me as a fully booked hotel for this night. I had selected the property for lake view and service and I wasn't getting either. Since I was checking-in at late 8 pm and had non-refundable booking, reluctantly I had to take the room given. I was also charged $5 for parking which was not listed on the web site when I booked, and if there was a mention, it may have been tucked away deep somewhere, I can't tell. I did notice that other guest who walked in while I was at the check-in desk were being greated and welcomed. But that professional courtesy of welcome and thank you was not extended to us. Perhaps she was selectively welcoming the customers. Once I went up in the room, I checked the site I had booked on, and sure enough, a room with lake view was still available with only $10 upcharge. To me it meant, either she wasn't doing her job, lied, didn't care or all of the above.
Later on, I went down to buy some snacks and soda next to the reception counter and was attended to in the same non-welcoming attitude with no courtesy of thank you etc. When I asked for a bag to carry the snacks and drinks, she just got a bag and dropped it next to my purchases, without even pretending to bag it for a customer.
I am giving it a 2 star instead of 1, as the hotel and room was clean as expected of the Hyatt brand, but the customer care and service wasn't.
Although the booking said breakfast was included, at the property I was told I had to pay extra if I wanted hot breakfast. Another fact that was hidden at the time of booking.
So take a informed decision before making your booking. If you want to pay about $150 (incl taxes) a night for pathetic customer service, and cold breakfast, this Hyaat Place...
Read moreWonderful! Hyatt Place is absolutely wonderful. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ They have super friendly staff, cozy rooms, and this was a very popular tourist area so lots of different places to experience & explore. My family will definitely be staying again.
I'm super happy with how warm and accommodating everyone was, especially with all the new changes that must be made/followed because of COVID-19. I am sad to say the only thing we didn't get to enjoy was breakfast at the hotel during our stay, but plans always change when you're traveling with a little one who isn't even 3 years old. 😅
⭐ I DO want to point out and show appreciation... And I feel so ashamed I couldn't remember any names with this scattered, Mommy brain of mine... Especially since there was a mishap and we had to go back to check the room one last time AFTER we had already checked out! 😵😩 But the night staff gentleman that was working Friday night when we checked in (September 25th) and Saturday night, I really hope you see this. Kudos to you with understanding the late night escape shifts for parents! 😵 I can tell you mean business, but it's with a warm, welcoming demeanor. Your hard work shows; Stay proud and stay true!! 🙌🏻
⭐To the WONDERFUL woman who was attending check outs around the time we left (11:30am) until we turned back after calling to request if we could search the room one last time...(around 12:15pm-12:45pm)... THANK YOU so much for helping us look in the room one last time even though we swore we searched through every nook and cranny for where a toddler would've hidden something, BUT we were wrong haha. My husband was shown back inside to look behind and under everything in the room for what was lost... and BEHOLD! ONE item was behind the dresser in a corner with little fingerprints... The other? Guess.... Just guess... It was under the room phone... We didn't even use the room phone our whole stay and didn't think to check near it or under for anything. But you live to learn, right?
Thank you everyone so much for an amazing stay and I have DEFINITELY loved my experience finally getting to visit northern Florida instead of just driving through it from Georgia to my home in...
