We had the worst stay at a Hilton Homewood on midtown in Jacksonville FL Sept 2024. The staff were very kind but the room so gross. When we first came into town, we were in a hurry to change our clothes and make it to a dinner meeting on time. The Hilton system was down so it took a while to check into our room. The assistant manager was very kind about it even though it was super frustrating for us. When we got to the room, we didn’t take the time to look around, we just changed and left because the Hilton server being down had made us late for our meeting. By the the time we had come back it was so late at night and I had two small children with me, that I felt like I couldn’t do anything about it. Plus, I was concerned a late night notice about an unclean room might be akin to “never send your food back at a restaurant”… I could tell it was unclean but I truly didn’t understand the full extent until morning light. The sheets were actually clean, thankfully. The other stuff we noticed was a musty moldy smell, water leak stains and peeling paint across the ceiling, stained and ripped curtains with spots of body fluids (I’m a nurse, I swear it was old blood) on them— the stains were so bad that the probably once white curtains were like tie dyed yellow and brown. Generally dirty room with dust dirt and hair, shower covered with scum and shower curtain rod literally falling out of the wall, door hook and door peek hole cover broken, cockroaches, and there was even a plastic outlet cover in our bedding which we had to take fitted sheet and everything off to find it under us. A blood spot on the sleeper sofa mattress, hair in the shower drain, and the icing on the cake was that the bed mattress and sheets were really very uncomfortable , so even though the sheets were clean, we didn’t sleep well. I took photos. I couldn’t believe it. And in such a nice area. I was coughing in the night and morning and I’m allergic to mold. We shared at checkout and the lady was very kind about it, said someone would be in touch. But no one called. Then, we left a concern on Hilton corporate, received a case number confirmation and never heard back from them either. If you like to sleep with roaches around other peoples bodily fluids and then have to pay for that, this...
Read moreI stayed here because a family was hospitalized at a local hospital. I did a late check-in through my Hilton app (diamond member), which only showed one room available. I checked in through the app and bypassed the front desk since they were entertaining a highly intoxicated bride and groom. When I arrived, the room was nice, as most Homewood Suites are. It wasn't until I pulled back the covers that I located a problem. We had a fitted sheet but no flat sheet. I called the front desk, and the clerk told me I would have to come down to get sheets because she was the only one there. I told her I had disrobed for bed and would not be coming down, and I mentioned I was a diamond member. She then said she had someone coming at 11PM and would have the sheets delivered then. Since that was only 13 minutes away, I agreed. When the sheets arrived, I was disappointed to find they had given me a fitted sheet that was for a smaller bed (pictured), not for the king in my room, and a flat sheet. We used the sheets anyway and continued getting ready for bed. I went to the bathroom and peeped in the tub to discover a large roach/water bug. I screamed and grabbed my phone, but when I turned back, the bug was gone! I assumed it had gone down the drain, so I turned on the water to help it along its way. The next morning, my daughter was in the shower when I heard a terrifying scream. I rushed in to see her wrapped in a towel and jumping up and down. She explained she had felt something on her foot, but without her glasses on, she assumed it was bubbles. When she felt it again, she looked down and saw something moving across her foot and realized it was the bug from the previous night. I looked in the tub, and there it was. I was able to remove it with a washcloth (pictured). After her hysterics subsided, we went down for the complimentary breakfast. It was a decent meal, but the hotel had a full house, so we had to wait several times in line to get all of the items we wanted because they kept running out of food. They should prepare larger quantities when the rooms sell out. In the end, I'm not sure if I'd visit this hotel again. I'm always concerned when there is a bug problem, as I do not want bugs getting into my luggage and...
Read moreNestled in a very convenient location for great shopping, dining and some family fun. Walking in, it has a touch of sophistication. We went to our two room suite and it had ample space for the four of us to relax and enjoy. I noticed this hotel needs a bit of touching up, an update. The bedside lamps only had regular plug in outlets and not the USB ports. We brought about two USB adapters and I’m glad we did. There is a USB port on the desk in the living room. The AC in our suite worked so well and kept us cool. The trash cans in each bathroom were a little small, the sliding mirror closet door were off it’s tracks. The windows need some cleaning and fixing. Some of the curtains rods were missing and the curtains ripped. The bedding is such a hassle to use, it’s always sliding off and just a headache to wake up during the night to keep it layered. We had to fix it countless times during our stay and during the night because it would always slide off the bed and get jumbled up. The pillows were the best though!! There were extra pillows and blankets in the closet which was so useful.
The kitchen provided ample space and the fridge was the perfect size and kept cold. We didn’t use our kitchen range but we did use the microwave and it was clean. The kitchen sink was clean, stocked with utensils and dishes and it was organized. It was a pretty clean suite, just need to get rid of all of the carpeting.
You will notice as you walk the hallways that it needs to be either touched up or updated, the ac vents need to get cleaned. Although there are trash cans by the elevators, it’s not the big and needs a bigger opening for trash. I think it would be nice if the kitchen had a big trash can so we can throw our trash in there but I see other patrons leave their garbage out by their doors. The elevator going up is a fun ride, it stops so fast and me and my girls a slight terror and some giggles. We look forward going back up to our room. The staffs were professional and sweet. Very friendly and helpful, I really would recommend this place. Also the breakfast was spectacular and kept tidy. I would come back especially because of how convenient and quiet...
