After 24 hours of straight traveling with a special needs child that I promised a swim to on arrival, I landed myself in a cluster of hotels and decided to try the Red Roof Inn "plus" (whatever that means). We arrived at 5pm and I had a nice discussion with the General Manager about how much my son was looking forward to the pool. We discussed at length how crazy kids could be swimming in the cold. By 6pm we were unloaded and headed for the pool. My card didn't work. I went to the front counter. I waited for several minutes waiting for an employee to appear (she was different from the original check in lady) as she was engaged in idle chitchat behind the wall. When she finally appeared, I informed her I was having trouble opening the door to the pool. She gave me rude look and in a very demeaning voice informed me it was dark and cold and the pool was closed, as if this should be obvious to everyone and I was an idiot for asking about the pool. I told her I didn't realize and that the sign at the pool said the pool was open until 9pm and did not say there was any rules/conditions of open based on temperature or light of day. The pool itself was well lit and didn't need daylight to remain safe to swim. Her reply to me was rude again and she said the sign needed to be changed. I guess I was supposed to read minds. I called a complaint to head office who took down my information and told me they would respond within 24hrs. I did not receive a call. I sent an email of complaint to them. I received a response that essentially said "sorry but it is your fault because our policy is dawn until dusk". My response is that is NOT what the signage said and also, we tried again at 9am and it was still closed the next day. Bottom line, at the end of traveling 24hrs and promises to swim, my special needs son faced big disappointment and lots of tears which I had to deal with at the end of a long day. A demeaning and rude employee only exasperated the problem.||On another note, upon arrival, there was hair in the shower that didn't belong to us and dirt on the floor. We should have saved our money and slept in the car or gone down the road to the Hilton. I was too tired to load back up and move at that point and who knows if they would have given my money back anyways.||There is no "plus" to staying...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at this location for his employment. He started his first trucking job with US EXPRESS TRUCKING, and the company placed us at this location. We initially thought we were staying at the marriott because it is on the same land, but quickly found out it was this location. A horrible experience!
The room walls are paper thin and we heard a live porno going on from 9:30pm until 4am. We never believe that this actually occurs because we normally stay at the Marriott chain. Because we are Bonvoy members, but red roof plus has made me a believer. We didn't bother banging on the wall to avoid it, getting even louder. The front desk does not answer the phone. As we called several times. I told my husband, "Let's just get through. This and never stay here again." I was tempted to just get in my car and drive three hours back home. I just didn't wanna test another hotel and another bad experience. He said it builds character.Let's just get through tonight, lol.
So I went against my better judgment and we stayed the night. The very next morning we went to put our remaining belongings in the car, and quickly realized that our car was burglarized. We call the police immediately, but the cameras are motion censored. So they pick up nothing in their parking lot without being triggered. Our car, BMW X7, WHAT'S PARK LITERALLY DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DOORS. so when you walk out the front door you're staring directly at the trunk of our truck. There were people standing outside and coming and going all night.Yet no one saw anything, including the front desk.
People were coming and going all night in the hallways, talking about roaming the parking lots, it is truly a prostitute situation going on there. The women looked disgusting. Most attendees appeared to be on something.
I can't believe I stayed there. It was like a horror movie and more importantly, I can't believe US EXPRESS puts their employees there. I BELIEVE THEY'RE UNAWARE OF THE QUALITY OF THIS HOTEL AND SAFETY. We did notify US EXPRESS of our burglary and experience. Hopefully, they will end their contract with them and place their staff at the Marriott.
I recommend that no one stays here and that this place is shut down. But short of that, this place needs to revamp their security policy, as well as...
Read moreAfter having red multiple reviews for this location I was a bit worried having with the bullet and made a reservation. Some reviews were just days old and were as complete and thorough as I would normally do which is why I was worried. But after having gotten here and checked in already knowing about the deposit that is required of which I was okay with. I got my key card and went to my room. I will say that one reviewer had said that there was a smell when walking into the room and even I did experience that weird type of smell and the room was quite warm as the air was not currently on and/or running. So when walking over to the air conditioner to turn it on I noticed it the vents had obviously attempted to have been cleaned which was wonderful until the air started to blow and I realized that whatever the cleanser it is that was used is the exact smell that you get when you walk in the door. So I set the air conditioner to what I needed it to be and decided instead of getting sick by the smell I'll go outside chat with friends and come back after it's cooled down. When I were later I come back room is nice and decent at which point I start my own inspection and - the initial smell of the room which did dissipate as the temperature changed and a very small could have come off my own shoe little bitty bug that crawled away before I could kill it to examine it, along with the refrigerator being set so cold that it froze my watermelon are the only things that I could actually say bad about the room that I received. My only other obviously noticed point of information would be is that the hallways are horrifically hot there is no airflow whatsoever and while trying to check out the following morning that same lack of air flow and heat also exists on the first floor at the checkout counter. Minus those few imperfections because that happens at many many hotels is the only reason it got ready to for instead of a five. I will come back and stay again it's the most comfortable hotel I've been at with each of my visits to Florida and I've been here...
