Stayed in a 2-queen with my mom. For starters, the room was dirty...it had clearly only been casually wiped down to pass a surface inspection and many high-touch surfaces like light-switches, thermostat, door surface above the knob (where people usually put their hand to push), etc were all grimy. Since COVID, I travel with Clorox wipes and I used a lot in this room as they kept coming away filthy. Gross! 𤢠On top of that, the air conditioner had an overpowering stink of mildew if you set it above 72, but 72 was quite cold š„¶ So our options were to freeze or suffer the stink.
Less egregious, there was no thought in the design that 2-4 people would occupy the room. The luggage holder didn't quite fit two open suitcases, the area around the sink was tiny for two people's toiletries, there were no hooks to hang to hang towels, toiletry bags, etc. There was only one towel bar by the sink which was installed so low that hand towels would brush the counter unless you doubled them up, which also meant they remained damp every time you dried your hands after washing. There wasn't enough space for two people to hang their hand towels and washcloths unless they hung them on top of each other, meaning the washcloth (probably wet) would make the hand towel wet as well.
Same for the bathroom (separated from the sink)--one towel bar, with multiple towels hung over each other and nowhere to put the extra clean towels once you'd used one, except for on top of one another. Not a single hook in the bathroom. Just terrible, frustrating design like from someone who didn't bother to think about how people would actually use the space.
Same for the bedroom; the power strip in the nightstand and the desk had the outlets so close together that two chargers couldn't fit next to each other. Neither Apple-size, nor Samsung would fit beside each other; we had to pull the nightstand away from the wall and unplug the clock to access another outlet.
The bed was fine, but the pillows were flat af. Piling up all three of them barely got my head above my chest.
The staff were polite, at least, and if you're driving up/down 95, it is right off the highway and with a few good restaurants nearby, but this is not a hotel I would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe arrived in JAX for a consultation at the Mayo Clinic for brain surgery. We were able to check in our room at around 4pm. We went to eat and when we came back to the hotel the entire floor including our room smelled of marijuana. Whoever was smoking it on our floor was very close to our room. The hallway actually had smoke in it the marijuana smoking was so heavy. My husband and I both have careers where we are frequently drug tested and this was completely unacceptable. We laid towels on the threshold of the door and called the front desk. We were assured it was not allowed and that they would move us into another room on another floor. I opened the door to go down to get the key to the new room and the hallway smelled like every skunk in Florida had decided to meet up right on our floor. I went to get the new room key and room assignment and was āassuredā by Dr. Google who was the Marriottās night clerk on that particular evening that I should be fine and not test positive for drugs. Good to know the Marriott employees Doctors as clerks. We then had to pack up and move to another floor and walk through the haze of Cheech and Chong smoke to the elevator. My husband had to call his employer and self disclose his exposure to the drug because he would be tested after time off. One night in a Marriott and it was just unbelievably stressful. I was there for brain surgery with the Mayo Clinic and I did not want myself nor my clothing to smell like I do drugs. I am so disappointed in your hotel and the ridiculous attitude of your employees. I am completely done with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnbelievably horrible experience at this Courtyard by Marriott tonight. We were met with very unfriendly service while checking in, and things only got worse when we got to our room. There was a foul, mildewy odor from the moment we walked into the room, and the condition of the room was unlike any other Marriott I have visited previously.
Nearly every corner/edge of the room was cracked or chipped, paint was splattered on nearly every surface, and you could tell years of filth was cheaply covered up with layers of paint. The condition of the room was one thing, but the filth was on another level ā I donāt think anyone has thoroughly cleaned the room in weeks, or even months (aside from the sheets). I found several bugs in the bathroom and every corner had a layer of yellow gunk that started to come off with some scrubbing. There was also a layer of dust over every surface/fixture in the room. The shower fixtures were practically falling off the wall, mold on the ceiling, and a thick layer of rust on most metal fixtures and sprinklers throughout the room.
I truly have never stayed in a hotel room this disgusting (including cheap motels), and would strongly suggest that you seek alternative options. We decided that it would be best to request a refund and look for another hotel, and when confronting the lady at the front desk about the condition of the room, there was no apology or any real effort to resolve the issues. There is a clear lack of care throughout the hotel, especially toward the condition of the rooms. Please save yourself the disappointment and...
