Title: A Heartfelt Thank You to the Exceptional Staff at Hampton Inn, Key Largo, Florida
As I sit down to express my gratitude, words seem inadequate to convey the depth of appreciation my wife and I feel towards the staff at Hampton Inn in Key Largo, Florida. Our recent stay here was nothing short of a disaster. This trip was planned as a surprise birthday getaway, but the reality fell far short of our expectations. Upon check-in, we were immediately greeted by a musty smell in our room. Despite having reservations, we couldn't address this issue right away.
When we finally returned to the hotel, we approached the front desk about the problem. They offered us another room but warned us that they couldn't guarantee it would be any better. Reluctantly, we checked out the new room, only to be welcomed by a noxious smell akin to WD40 and motor oil. When we asked for further alternatives, the hotel staff astonishingly suggested we purchase Febreze ourselves.
Concerned for our health, given the moldy conditions, I contacted the third-party booking platform I used to make the reservation. They informed me that I would have to wait until 9 am the next morning to speak with the manager. I expressed my concerns to them, and shortly afterward, the hotel finally agreed to switch our room.
While the new room smelled better, it still left much to be desired in terms of cleanliness. There were clear signs of mold on the tile grout, tears in the furniture, and a persistent dripping sound from the ceiling of the bathroom made our stay far from pleasant.
On the following day, after a morning away, we found that our room keys no longer worked. A call to the front desk resulted in being instructed to return to the lobby to have new keys made, despite having all our beach belongings with us. Even the 'new' key cards provided still did not function properly.
We had to call the front desk once more to send someone to assist us. Our troubles didn't end there, as we also discovered that the conditioner in the room had not been refilled from the previous guest.
Throughout this ordeal, there was one shining beacon of helpfulness in the form of Stephanie. She consistently went above and beyond to assist us, from providing hair conditioner because the room's bottle was empty to personally delivering extra towels. Stephanie's dedication was a welcome contrast to the overall...
Read moreWe arrived Feb 21, 2025, planning on staying for a week-long vacation. We were first given room #133. As soon as we entered the room, we noticed a musty smell. The A/C wasn't working. When my wife tried to open the sliding glass door, we noticed it wasn't latched, and the secondary lock was broken. We called the front desk, and Julieanne (she was the one bright spot), had maintenance come over. Ernst, got the A/C working, but couldn't repair the sliding glass door. His solution was to bring a piece of wood to lay in the track and prevent the door from opening. BUT, he brought a piece of wood approximately 10 inches to long, and said it was fixed. WRONG - any child could have given the door a tug from the outside and the wood would slide away and the door open. We truly felt unsafe in the unsecured room. There were more issues with this room: the TV remote was sticky; my guess is someone spilled a coke on it. I called Julieanne back and she moved us to another room, #244. More problems, listed below: layers of dust on the ceiling fan layers of dust on the bed frame no bulb in outside patio fixture, only EXPOSED WIRES (possible fire hazard) numerous stains on lamp shades also, on a walk around the property, we found RAT TRAPS alongside the rear of the building. We needed a place to stay for a night until we could find other accommodations, and Julieanne let us cancel the remaining 6 days of our 7-day vacation. BUT, we were still charged $347.63 for one night! We were very disappointed. We have stayed at numerous Hampton Inn's in the past, and always had a positive experience. Not this time. I thing we deserve a...
