We just did a full buy-out at Largo Resort for our wedding 4/6/24. It was exactly what we pictured- an intimate, private paradise, with all of our closest friends and family.
Our immediate family and wedding party all stayed on the property (about 32 people altogether). This included the houses on the property next door.
The pros: we loved having the entire resort to ourselves. The property has lush , tropical florals, beautiful water views and a lovely pool. The inside of the accommodations were up to date and clean. There was docking for boats, which was great for our guest who took his and when we wanted to rent one for the entire day. There were also kayaks and paddle boards, which all of our guests enjoyed. We also liked the cornhole but it was broken, so we made due using some rocks to prop it up.
Most of the employees from the management company were communicative and so was the owner, Mr.Siroff.
There were several concerns my parents raised upon visiting the property initially. Once I had mentioned a few of these concerns to the owner and management company, every single one was rectified in time for our big day, something I was beyond impressed with. They even went as far as fixing the pool tiles that were missing on the day before we checked in. The care and responsiveness was very much appreciated.
Throughout our stay, we had several dedicated team members working with us. Ones that stuck out in particular were Megan, who helped us with our planning and our time on property. After experiencing some miscommunications with another staff member, she stepped in and helped us have a great experience with our friends and family.
Alissa, who was very visible on the property during our stay and helped us with the check-in process along with providing us with support during the weekend.
One of the most important staff members was Stan, the head of maintenance . He went above and beyond to clean up the property and provide us with everything we needed, always with a genuine smile. He was always willing to help. He really stood out to us from the start of the weekend up until the last moments.
In addition, the cleaning staff who helped with the Grand Lodge were also very accommodating and friendly. I did not catch their names, but am very thankful for them.
Finally, even when there were things that could’ve been considered hiccups (like a leak in one of our guest rooms), management took care of my guests by setting up alternate accommodations. It was seamless to where, I had no idea what was going on and I appreciated that.
The cons: For a large property where we spent a large amount of money to stay, I was hoping that all rooms would automatically be cleaned each day. Unfortunately, individuals in bungalows had to personally call and request turn over for rooms each day, which didn’t always happen, as we were all very busy. They didn’t come to clean the garbages in the accommodations without it being personally requested. In addition, the grand lodge wasn’t cleaned until about 1PM daily, which was problematic at times.
Within the accommodations, items of need were limited: garbage bags, paper towels, ice, clothing steamers, ironing boards, ample space for food and drinks in the fridge, coffee and coffee filters, cleaning supplies. For the price, the house should be fully stocked at all times. I also believe that when we first toured the property, it was stated there was 2 fridges/ freezers, that is no longer the case.
Overall, our guests and our families loved the resort and had the most amazing weekend there. There were small things that we would have improved, but that can be said with any place you stay. From my conversations with the owner and management, it seems that Largo Resort will continue to be improved upon with time. They certainly proved that to me prior to my big day.
I would 100% recommend the property to other brides looking for a private resort that can provide amazing memories for years to come. I plan on coming back one day when we have kids to show them where we...
Read moreI stayed at the resort for a wedding in the wedding party. I’ll break the review up into two sections the wedding and the resort, starting with the wedding.
The resort had places to get dressed and have separation for the bride and groom. The tree lined entrance had opportunities for pictures. There was room for the ~50 guests that came for the wedding. The venue had a kitchen and room for the cater, photographer, dj, etc.
The wedding coordinator Latrice did a grt job of staying on schedule and adapting to issues specifically moving everything when it started to rain(pour). I would expect the venue that is in an area that frequently has rainstorms to happen, to have umbrellas available at least (especially with the price) to get the wedding party from the house to the tent and not have to try and borrow them from the guests.
The resort was situated to have a view of the sunset, it is dependent on the weather (not the fault of the venue). I was glad that the clouds parted and rain slowed just enough for the bride and groom to get some sunset pictures that they were hoping for.
Moving on to the resort. We were told that check-in was between 4-6 pm. Upon arriving at 5 pm, the room was still not cleaned and ready, we had to wait another 15 minutes to enter. Even after cleaning they forgot to remove the trash, the bedsheets were covered in sand, so I’m not sure what cleaning they were doing. Our towels had holes in them and when we asked for more towels they were damp.
We shared a room with another couple and were in the living room. We were told there would be a locking door between the rooms. There was a door with wooden slats, but it did not lock, we asked the desk to fix it. They said it was fixed later but it was in no way fixed. Since we didn’t know the other couple as they were on the bride’s side it was slightly uncomfortable.
They boast a ‘plush Queen-sized bed’ in the living room, it is a pull-out couch that isn’t in anyway ‘plush’. There isn’t daily cleaning of the room which is annoying with the amount of sand that is brought in. Since there isn’t a place to hang up towels and they never are dry after use. Fresh towels should just be standard everyday, it could be as easy as drop towels in a bin by the door just inside the room and put new ones there (hopefully not damp like received before).
You can request items towels, sheets, pillows, ice, etc from the office. The issue is you can only do that when someone is at the office, which they randomly leave empty during the day and after hours there is no one. Having access to these items would be easy and readily available at a hotel anytime during your stay.
Expect to get breakfast somewhere else, they say you get a breakfast basket with an assortment of muffins. It is some granola bars, one muffin, some sort of biscuit and small juice bottles. It shows up way after the time you would probably want to eat breakfast anyways, so useless. I assume the timing is tied to the issue with someone being in the office.
The infinity pool was nice and with the limited amount of guests you didn’t have to fight for chairs that you would have too at a hotel. It also had a zero entry so it would be good for children although we left ours at home. Might be nice to have a small sun shade over the pool but that is probably a personal preference so I can’t count that against the resort.
The ‘beach’ is sand but it is against a seawall so there is no place to really walk into the ocean expect a small area to put in the kayak and the paddle board. There is no sand in the water so it goes just to weeds, hotels in the area did have areas to walk into the ocean with sand extending out. I did see a 6 foot crocodile swimming around so maybe it is a good thing to not be able to just jump into the water.
If you want to have your wedding there, sure go for it.
I cannot recommend staying at this resort in any capacity as a guest though, especially for the price. Stay at a hotel and save yourself...
Read moreLet’s say the place is beautiful and our wedding went amazing. This is not because of the resort staff but because of our planer, caters , flower company etc. from the time we booked 1.5 years ago, we went thru 4 different people in charge of the resort. They were all wonderful till the newest company/people. The front staff acted like they could care less about buy out. We had talked to them about items missing from when we signed up. They kept bringing up a storm that took it all. This “storm” was well over 6 months prior to our wedding. Their site had said there is kayaks. They were non existent. When we asked them to rent them for us. They said the rental companies would charge them $4000. We called a rental company and paid ourself $100 for two for the weekend buy out. This included delivery and pickup. There was zero attempt to make us feel welcome. We spoke to them a week prior that we would be arriving at noon with their permission. Upon arrival the front desk girl told us check in is not till 4. Once we walked out to go to our car all of sudden it was ready. I’m sorry but if the bride and groom are checking in , have a bottle of champagne or something waiting. Thank your guests for arriving. Then came the issues with the resort. A FL cold front moved in. The pool heater worked for the 1st day, after that it broke. Never worked rest of the weekend. Putting the pool into high 60 degs. My parents had termites boring a hole into their bedroom ceiling. Dropping dust onto the floor. Then the brides father who’s battling cancer - had no hot water to shower during the stay. They kept resetting the breaker and saying it’s okay only for it to trip again. He was also locked out of the room at one point. There is no one at all on site at night. We looked for someone for over 30 mins. Then their ac leaked all over their wedding cloths. Upon check out she asked the owner to call, who never did. Brandi emailed her and said they are to blame them for the ac saying they opened the window in a bathroom, and the window broke. But really it was the drain line on the mini split that clogged. Also I do hvac and plumbing for a living. Opening a window will not cause an ac to leak. They told her they should have thrown them out for having someone climb it he window to unlock the door. Even though again , no one was on site. She also told them it was her fault for leaving the key. Again not sorry it stopped working, it was well you should have taken a key for an auto lock. This is all emailed by Brandi the same Brandi that knew we were supposed to have a meeting the day they fired the last team yet didn’t get on the zoom call with or call us, or email us. We had to find out. 4 days later after the scheduled 60 day call. The same Brandi that came down to our room with an attitude telling us about the storm from 6 months ago. And they had not bought anything new because it all needs branded and researched. I even though not one thing in that place . The new management Company working there needs a crash course on customer service. Everything is an excuse with attitude. I feel bad moving forward while they are still there any...
