My wife, 3 boys, and I recently spent two nights in one of the cabins. We had been to POK before to rent boats from What's Up Dock, but had never stayed here.
We had an awesome stay despite a few very minor setbacks.
The cabins are located along the lake near where the larger RVs are set up. Views are ok, but we're not too picky on what we can see from our front porch. The cabin itself is basically a larger RV, but all the plumbing, sewer, and electrical are fully modern. The queen cabin, where we stayed, says it sleeps up to 6. That is true, but the master bedroom is a very small room and the queen bed barely fits in there. Wife and I don't do well on queen beds so I volunteered to sleep on the pull-out sofa sleeper and used a sleeping bag because we all know how comfortable those things are. It's definitely "glamping!"
Upstairs is a loft with two twin mattresses and a VERY low ceiling! The loft should only be used by smaller kids or if you're flexible enough. My 16 year old son slept up there and he is 6'1", 190lbs. Needless to say he hit his head on the ceiling!
So it can definitely sleep 6, but just like an RV or a larger camping trailer, it's a very tight fit for 6!
But it's a really nice cabin, very well kept, very clean and all amenities worked, even the small Weber gas grill mounted to the porch railing!
The resort provides MOST kitchen utensils needed. We really could have used an actual scrub-brush for washing dishes. They do provide dish soap (no dishwasher, which was a bummer) but no scrubbers. The bright side is the resort does not require guests to do their own dishes and it's ok to just leave them as it upon check out. But on multi-night stays, you kinda need to have clean dishes for making meals!
There is an outdoor fire ring. The resort does sell firewood as well as a s'mores making kit. However, no firestarters! The only firestarters available are from the grocery store in Kimberling City. So I went over there and pretty much cleared out the entire stock of firestarters thinking it would have actually made a difference. The firewood we bought did absolutely nothing! Firestarters fully burned out before the wood could even start burning. The wood was just starting to smolder when the firestarters gave out. I brought this to the attention to the lady at the front desk upon check out and she apologized and gave me a free bag of ice, which is what I was going to purchase anyway.
So if you plan on having a campfire, bring TOP quality long-lasting firestarters! Otherwise, the bundle you buy from them may not even do what it is supposed to do!
Otherwise, we loved our stay, loved how close it is to Pier 28 Restaurant (which is only open until 8:30pm) and What's Up Dock.

Read moreWe spent a few days over christmas at the cabin and it was wonderful. Cozy, clean cabins with a beautiful view of the lake. The office staff was so very helpful and accommodating with our reservations and our stay. Very proffessional, polite, smiling faces. Jim, their grounds person went above and beyond to help us getting ready for our bbq christmas dinner. He did it with a smile and so very helpful and pleasant. What an amazing place to stay if u want to be on the lake. We are extending our stay to a Suite the next few days (we would have stayed in the cabin but ofcourse it was pretty booked but that's ok, the office was so helpful and suggested a Suite over looking the lake so we extended. Going to enjoy more lake time and our boat, ( weather last few days of dec are going to be in the 60s ) which is docked at the marina here also on their new beautiful dock) we are in our 60s and 70s so all the wonderful polite helpful services we've gotten to make the holidays so nice has been a blessing. Thank you to everyone at Port...
Read moreI was camping and have a motorhome. I don’t tow a vehicle which made it virtually impossible to go anywhere but my campsite. I was given the number from the main POK desk of a neighboring resort, disturbed the man on vacation, to find out that they do not rent or deliver golf carts to POK. So I couldn’t access any options at the marinas or restaurant, which I would have been happy to patronize. It is at least a half mile from the camping area to the main office and pool. They had no on site store for campers. There was no trash pick up. Otherwise the lake was beautiful (too hot to swim in). The bath houses looked nice although I didn’t go in. If this is the best rated resort at Lake of the Ozarks, I’d hate to see...
