Another bad day at "Your Pie." The service fell apart once again. Unfortunately for me and my guest, this can happen as I attempt to introduce a friend to the Your Pie Pizza restaurant in LaGrange. So much potential, yet so many "personality potholes" yet to resolve.
Slowing down just a little, knowledge of the menu and setting emotions aside to carefully listen to what a customer is asking for, could work to overcome every one of my concerns.
I'm easy, all I want is quality food, helpful and friendly service.
Tonight, I wanted a delicious salad that a friend and I could split together with the pizzas, bread sticks, beer and wine we had requested.
"We don't have that." followed by, "Last time you asked for one, we just poured two salads into one container." That's not what I wanted.
A beautiful salad served to us twice before was served in a white dish, but I couldn't remember what it was called. It had offered more than enough for two people to share. What I expect to hear from the manager is, "Sure, can I suggest that you try the Caesar Salad or the...? These are plenty large enough so that two people could share any one of them if that is desired."
That's it! Is that so difficult? Instead, seeing that I became frustrated and didn't want to tangle again with him, the manager was content to blow me off.
I saw two different examples of the larger salads served to other customers later after going through the line and collecting food that was easy to collect, food that was promoted by the staff and that we could access today. This consisted of pizza, bread sticks and drinks.
There were other, pre-made, small salads kept in a cooler seen along the buffet or assembly area, but that's not what we were looking for or wanted.
Why does this manager toy with us this way? It seems intentional to me. Just set aside all personality differences, past resentments and strong emotions and help the customer find what they are looking for and be done with it!
I have no interest in or the time for a debate about what happened last time or an argument / analysis about poor service, etc..
Instead, I have learned to simply ignore the attitudes and unwanted behaviors as they arise and move on at this place. Then I end up avoiding it for several more weeks before trying again hoping that the troublesome employee has moved on.
I've noticed that when the manager isn't present, the majority of other employees are eager to please, very kind, helpful and professional. It's fun and a delight to come here when service like this is available.
Unfortunately, when the manager is present and he's having a bad day, I notice that some of the other employees (not all) aren't as focused and aren't tuned into the customers. When this happens, they too can fall in line with the other bad examples spread down the line by a temperamental leader.
We're all adults, can we please get over the drama and get back to creating positive dining...
Read moreThe crust is great, thin and crunchy which makes the flavors stand out. The pizza reminded me of Ginka's which was in Warm Springs years ago (2004ish), very good. But, I felt like the portions were very skimpy. It was too expensive and there weren't enough toppings to have a little of each on each slice of our 10" pizza. I ordered 3 scoops of Gelato (3 for $5.??) but got charged for 3 single scoops which were small, so to compensate they give you these tiny spoons (which are even too little for children). I felt ridiculous. It was like eating with a fingernail. I ordered 10 wings, but they were soft and fatty with a strong boiled chicken flavor, not appetizing. I would only recommend going for pizza and not being afraid to be specific with how you want it because they're charging a lot for it. The employees were nice. Considering I paid $17 for 10 wings I'm taking them home to try to bake...
Read moreUpdate:I went back the other other night and had an awful experience! I ordered a pizza and the girl have it to someone else. She then tries to give it to me after he had the pizza for 5 minutes!! She went to have it remade. I waited over half an hour and she forgot to bring it to me so when I got it , it was cold and nasty. I also had a to go order and it was wrong. It was supposed to be a pepperoni pizza and chicken Alfredo it was some odd pizza with spinach and the pasta some kind of red sauce pasta. I didn't had not checked it and they had closed before I could get back in. The checkout girl was super nice though.
The best pizza and pasta around! And the staff is super friendly. This is a real family friendly restaurant. The pizza is made by hand with fresh ingredients and cooked the right way in a fire oven. It's...
