I was so incredibly disappointed with my experience with the shop. I bought my wedding dress from them in July 2019. I worked with the owner Amy and she helped my find my dream dress! I excitedly wanted to keep supporting this shop by having my 9 fellas that needed suits rent from An Affair to Remember. I told Amy that day that I wanted them all in beautiful summer blue suits. She said, "our suits start at $99". Little did I know that that comment was incredibly misleading. When the first group of my boys (who are college students/early career adults) went to be fitted they were floored at the $217 rental price tag. The sheepishly paid but called me to let me know. I was floored as I was NOT informed of what the price would be and thought it would be much more affordable. I once again spoke with Amy and she agreed to spread out our "1 free suit" (with the rental of 6..I believe) discount among the suits so that my guys weren't paying so much. I was pleased with this as it was at least something to help and thought, "hooray! My boys will look GREAT!" Few by few my guys were fitted at the shop by the girls that worked there. The Monday before my Saturday wedding though disaster began to ensue. The suits for ALL of the guys STILL weren't in. The suits came in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and THURSDAY! Now, here's the kicker and the REASON for my 1 star rating. Out of NINE...NINE suits, only TWO SUITS fit the guys the first time!!!!!!!!!! My (now) husband and my father didn't even get their suits until FRIDAY (FRIDAY PEOPLE!!!) while we were literally REHEARSING for our wedding, that's 6 PM THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING!!! EVERY SINGLE girl, including the owner were INCREDIBLY RUDE to my guys during that week before the wedding. My dad, a very calm and slow to anger man became very frustrated when the girls AND OWNER immediately jumped on the defensive when he began to question WHY they got SO MANY suits wrong. He finally told them that their attitudes were disgusting and that they needed to HAND DELIVER his suit and my husband's suit to the venue and that they better fit this time!!! The entire process was awful, stressful, and disgusting. Definitely not what a wedding shop should be doing to a BRIDE THE DAY before her wedding! I am so glad and so relieved that the suits are returned and I will never have to deal with this shop again and I will NEVER EVER recommend this shop to anyone EVER! I'll also add...they GOT THE SUITS WRONG, by the way. My dad and husband were to have a vest with their suit, my father didn't, and only my husband was supposed to have a bowtie and the groomsmen were to have ties...they got ALL BOW TIES and my husband got the WRONG COLOR!! Luckily, I had my dad a custom tie made so my husband could wear what was supposed to be my dad's. Just an awful experience. Don't shop here brides! Pay more for less stress AND SASS! I'm just thankful the men in my life can hold their own and handled it all so I didn't have to.
Update: post response Amy, it is clear to me that your questioning of my father’s character (yikes) and inaccuracies in our experience are a clear picture as to your insecurities as a business owner and a guilt about your behavior and your employee’s behavior. I stand by what I said, and feel sorry for you as a business owner who feels the need to respond with words of condemnation rather than thinking about what YOU did wrong as a business owner to help a BRIDE, which is what you’re intended...
Read moreUnfortunately we have not had a good experience with An Affair to Remember. To start, my dress was ordered in a size down from what it should have been ordered in. This resulted in having to pay more for alterations and having the seams taken out of my dress which changed the whole look of the dress. Secondly, the bridesmaids appointment was made beginning of June when the associates knew the wedding date, then I was called back later and advised that date was too far out and we wouldn't receive the dresses in time. I was forced to coordinate with everyone to move the appointment to that week and was told the dresses would come in the first or second week of August. By the second week of August two of the dresses were still missing so I called to check the status and only then was I advised that they were running two weeks behind "due to covid". No one called to inform me of this, I had to call the store for an update. When I asked if anything could be done for the inconvenience because once again the bridesmaids would have to pay more to have the alterations expedited, the manager stated no, that it wasn't any fault of the business but that everyone was experiencing it due to covid. I then mentioned that I had not been having a good experience with them, and brought up the incident with my dress and she stated she would look into it and get back to me about that, but almost a month later and I never heard anything back from them. Lastly, one of the groomsmen ordered his suit but had not paid for it yet, I was called and they let me know and I told them I would reach out to him but I wanted to make sure that it had still been ordered, the associate stated yes. I called back today to pay for it and was then advised they couldn't drop ship it because it hadn't been ordered yet and it was too late to drop ship. So the original information I was given was incorrect and now his suit may not even fit and theres nothing that we can do about it. Had they been upfront we would have went ahead and paid for it the day they called so we could avoid not being able to have it drop shipped. From some of the other reviews written, I see the company does not take accountability for mistakes made on their behalf which makes the customer more upset that no one is willing to have sympathy that they've caused a...
Read moreI would not recommend using An Affair To Remember for any special occasions, especially your wedding. We had so many issues with this place in just the last few months that added to our stress level. They never notified me or my bridesmaids that any of their dresses were in. I happen to be up there in the store with my groomsmen to be fitted and asked about their dresses. They said they had them in the back not even 2 weeks after we ordered them. They had each of them pay $35 extra for rushed shipping and told them that they wouldn’t arrive until a week before the wedding even by doing that, which wasn’t true. I later heard they are known for doing this just to make a little extra money off of you. When one of my bridesmaids picked up her dress and got it home to try on she had a completely wrong dress. It was a granny dress or mother of the bride, not the one she ordered. They went back the next day and were given the sample dress off the rack which was 2-3 sizes too big and we were forced to pay and have it altered, which was pricey. Finally, which was the final straw for me. My fiancé and I picked up his tux and he tried it on. It was way too small for him. They ordered him the wrong size jacket and we had to take it back up there 2 days before the wedding. This issue caused us both to miss work and loose sleep over wondering if everything was going to come together. Overall I’m so glad that I did NOT buy my wedding dress from here because there is no telling what could have gone wrong with it. In my opinion they need to do their job and check behind theirselves before they say your items are ready to be taken from the store. They will say to your face that they do no wrong but in my experience I would say otherwise. I was very dissatisfied with my...
