I booked a Double Queen room at the Wyndham hotel in Lake Charles expecting a comfortable and clean stay, but my experience was far from it. Upon entering the first room, I was immediately hit with a horrible odor. Thankfully, the front desk associate was kind and moved us to a King room with a pullout couch since no other Double Queens were available. Unfortunately, that room was also unacceptable—dirty overall and the pullout bed was unusable due to a bent frame.
We were moved a third time, but the issues only got worse. The room had visible stains on both the couch and pullout bed, a wrapper covering the smoke detector, a dirty bathtub, and stained floors. At that point, I had enough and booked a room at another hotel. I called to cancel the remainder of my stay and left that night.
Although I came back the next morning to officially check out, I was still charged for one night despite never staying in a room that met basic cleanliness or safety standards. To make matters worse, the photos on Wyndham’s website are highly misleading—what you see online is not what you get. These are low-budget rooms disguised as a branded hotel.
To validate my concerns, another family who checked in after me was also checking out the next morning for the exact same reasons. I have photos documenting everything and would not recommend this location to anyone. Wyndham should seriously reconsider maintaining its name on...
Read moreI have stayed here before when it was a Holiday Inn and was hopeful the change to Wyndham would not affect the experience. Maybe they're still working on it....|When I walked in, there were several people standing near and behind the desk but I could not tell who was an employee as they were all dressed very casually in jeans and t-shirts and no nametags. While polite, there was not a sense of welcome at all.|When I got to my room it smelled VERY strongly of chemicals, like it was recently sprayed for bugs or something. It was late so I did not feel like going back down and attempting to change rooms. The AC unit only did Med and Low, no high so it took a bit for the room to cool down. The bed was comfortable but the carpet had that kind of sticky feel to it so I kept my shoes on most of the time I walked around. |The indoor pool is supposedly heated, it was not. I went to swim laps the morning after I checked in and the water was cold. The restaurant was not open for breakfast. |When I checked out, the person at the desk was dressed more professionally but was not very friendly. Guests should be greeted with a smile, not a blank look. |So while nothing bad happened, I was less than impressed with the...
Read moreI have never stayed in a filthy hotel like this one before. I checked in on Father’s Day’s at 4:30ish. Desk clerk was nice. I was in room #337. Soon as the elevator door opened, I could smell smoke and mold! The room was worse than the hallway. The room smelled like smoke and mold. The AC didn’t work properly. The chaise had water stains on it. The curtains were stained 🤢. It was so terrible that I CHECKED OUT! The young lady offered me another room but I declined. I have serious health issues and I couldn’t risk staying there. Then she informed me that I couldn’t get a refund. Not ONCE did I ask for a refund! I just wanted to get out of there! Then I received a text message the following morning asking what time did I want to check out? WTH? So I called them. First the clerk stated that I hadn’t been checked out but then stated that I had been checked out. On the survey THEY sent stated that I had checked out at 8:02 am, the same time I had spoken with the clerk this morning! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. I also...
