Blue Iguana Taco Bar & Cantina — Restaurant in Lake Charles

A little disappointed about this place. I will note the servicer here was very good for the city, but the food and cocktails were all a let down. This place isn't really doing anything to differentiate themselves from the other 30 tex-mex restaurants in town.

Pros: Salsa - I'd say its one of the better salsa's in town. There were two very similar salsas at the table, which was a little confusing. Queso - Average cheese dip you'd get at any tex-mex place, just on the expensive side. Service - Very impressed by the service. The server was attentive, and there was support staff to refill drinks, chips, etc.

Cons: Beverages - No drink specials. Mezcal Old fashioned was excessively sweet and didn't taste like mezcal. The house margarita was overly tart. I probably wouldn't order a cocktail if I ever went back. Food - Had an assortment of tacos. The cilantro did not appear fresh. The presentation wasn't very attractive. Some of the meats were tepid. What has taken me so long to try this place is beyond me. The food, atmosphere & service were incredible! Both the warm & cold salsa was great (I can’t choose which I like best) & the servings were huge & competitively priced. It’s definitely a place where you can share a plate with someone. Pedro was attentive providing the best service I have had in a very long time. The restaurant was clean & the staff were all warm & friendly. 10/10 recommend. What has taken me so long to visit this establishment is beyond my comprehension. The culinary experience, ambiance, and service were exceptional. Both the warm and cold salsas were outstanding, and the generous portions were competitively priced. This is undoubtedly a place where sharing a plate with a companion is highly recommended. Well, we actually loved the food. The atmosphere was great, and the bathrooms were extremely clean. The food was all fresh and we went at 9 pm on Sunday night. The staff went out of their way to help us. We had our whole family with us a total of 11. We had 4 teens. Which you all know it's near to impossible to keep them happy. 😂 They all loved their food. My 12 yr old grandson loved the food and insisted upon giving our waiter a $20.00 tip.We agreed that he had worked ha t d for every cent we could give him..
