Mannnnnnn, I need to catch up on writing reviews of all the places in the neighborhood I've loved, because I don't want to constantly complain about customer service. The food was delicious, our server was charming, I'm sure all the 5 star reviews are well-earned.
THAT SAID.
This place is supposed to be ADA compliant. In theory, it is ADA compliant. In reality? NOT AT ALL. Me and my crutches were severely unimpressed.
The hallway to the patio was partially obstructed by highchairs being stored "out of the way" of the main dining room. I navigated that, only to have to cross a cement floor that was super slippery because of the dishwater that inevitably dripped between the two sides of the kitchen. I make it to the patio only to find the ramp full of employees' bikes locked up to the railings. The hostess seemed super annoyed that I had the audacity to... Need crutches? And that I went slowly over the wet part so that they didn't slip? (I've had it happen, and BOY does it suck.) When I hit the ramp, she literally told me I "could try" to use it and recommended I use the stairs instead. I asked her to at least shift one of the bikes so that it wasn't completely blocking the path, and she just... Didn't? So I had to do it?
I expect better. I presume that the owners also expect better. Super bummed that such a beloved neighborhood spot is so callous towards...
Read moreHoney says: m.henry is a breakfast staple for us and one of, if not the, top breakfast joints in the city. With a fairly consistent quality and decent variety it's easy to understand why this Andersonville eatery is usually packed. Their menu has plenty of solid sweet choices but can be somewhat lacking in savory alternatives, particulary for those who prefer meat-centric dishes, but they do offer reasonably priced sides to compensate. As far as drinks go their coffee is good and their oj is fresh. If you are looking for a good place to grab breakfast on the north side you definitely don't want to miss m.henry.
Some recommendations; Those who love sweets will want to order the cinnamonroll french toast. The misses always is in the mood to share a sweet dish if she doesn't order one herself and their blackberry bliss pancakes are always in the rotation. I personally prefer the huevos rancheros, though their soups can definitely steal the spotlight during brunch.
Some cautions; They recently changed the "killer fried egg sandwich", which previously included blue cheese and bacon but now is sans-pork and with cheddar(?). While I'm sure there was a reason for this (broadening appeal maybe?) my personal preference is for the older version which had a far more enticing and rewarding flavor compared to the significantly blander and less filling...
Read moreI love M. Henry. Their food is very delicious and we have had great experiences there. Unfortunately, this last visit to m. Henry was so disappointing, it moves their 5 star rating to a 3.
We’ve been to m. Henry so we expected a wait. We put our names down and stepped outside. After about 15 min I went in to check to see how it was going and the hostess Savenna was sitting parties that had just walked in. When I asked why we weren’t sat before them, they said “one second, a table is opening up right now”. Totally deflecting why we were skipped.
Once we were sat the service was great. Fast and helpful. The food took a bit longer than usual, but it is a busy place. Finally the food came out, but not all of it. My girlfriend ordered the breakfast sandwich (very good), I ordered the stuffed Pablano (It was so cold by time it hit the table, I couldn’t eat it), and our friend ordered pancakes, which they forgot to bring out.
I don’t want to get into how fast pancakes cook, but it definitely shouldn’t have taken as long as it did.
Anyway, once we finally did get them, my friend offered me some because I couldn’t eat mine. I do not eat burned pancakes and these, were burnt. Pictures below.
I’m really sad I have to write this review because it’s been such a good brunch spot for us, but this brunch almost makes me never...
