The location was decent, situated just a couple of easy blocks from the downtown, across from the high school. The falls are just behind them, but in the summer we could not see them. There were not views in Patricia's room. The bed was good for sleeping, and the air conditioning in the summer was at a good level. Breakfast was tasty - we had the same as the previous reviewer...cream cheese french toast with berries, sausage links and homemade muffins one day, and quiche with bacon and the banana with cinnamon and honey the next. We ate at Mrs. B's last year, and this breakfast was better. The decor is floral pattern/lace/grandma cutesy typical of lots of B&B's. The shower is a big bathtub with surrounding curtains, so be able to climb steps to the rooms and over a bathtub rim.||||We were worried when we booked about it being #14/18 on TripAdvisor. I think that's just a function of the TripAdvisor algorithm though since it only had 2 reviews. That ranking is not indicative of the place. ||||For other Lanesboro recommendations - we go to the Root River Outfitters for biking, canoeing and kayaking, we go to both plays at the Commonweal, and the Old Village...
Read moreWe stayed at the Thompson House, an 1870s Italianate architecture B&B, over Memorial Day weekend and were extremely pleased with our choice. The proprieters, Kathy & Butch, were so warm and lovely and made us feel very comfortable. We stayed in "Millie's Room" which has a jacuzzi tub that worked wonderfully. Breakfast was served at 8:30 and was very good. One morning Kathy served French toast with fruit topping, and sausage links. The second day it was an egg bake with homemade muffins and a chilled banana sprinkled with cinnamon and honey. ||||The mansion is beautiful and is perched on a hill overlooking the dam. Everything was so clean and tidy, and the grounds were blooming with lots of perrenials. It's a short walk (only a couple blocks) to the downtown area, which was perfect. ||||Our favorite place to have a cocktail & food was at Riverside on the Root. Can't wait to go back hopefully this summer when the weather is guaranteed to let us take advantage of the kayaking and biking that we missed out on this time due to the...
Read moreWe just returned from a weekend in Lanesboro and had a wonderful time biking, hiking and exploring the town. The Thompson House was in the perfect location for us. It was just a short walking distance from downtown Lanesboro (one block from Sylvan Park), in a beautiful setting near the river and dam. The front yard provided the perfect spot to sit and relax after a busy day ... we put the porch swings to good use:). The commons area of the house have gone thru an extensive renovation, and you could tell a lot of thought and hard work was put into it. The decor and furniture were absolutely beautiful! It was enjoyable chatting with the guests in the formal dining area while enjoying a delicious breakfast! (We also appreciated the air conditioning since we had very warm temps...
