Root River Inn @ Iron Horse — Hotel in Lanesboro

Four couples recently stayed at Iron Horse - they have only four suites so we had the place to ourself. Rooms were clean, good size, comfortable bed. Each room had microwave and little frig. The "gathering room" was great for us to congregate, play cards, etc. We biked in the rain one day and it was nice to be able to return to the Inn and use the dryer to dry clothes. There is large frig in gathering room with ice maker. Pat is a wonderful host and we learned things about where to go, eat, etc. that brochures did not tell you. Lanesboro is sweet town and we were there during the week which was perfect because we learned it is extremely busy on weekends. We rode our bikes a few blocks from the Inn to the local park to play pickle ball. Be sure to go to The Barn at the RV campground for ribs on Wednesday...

We absolutely loved this renovated hotel. Classic high ceilings and hardwood wood floors but modern amenities provided in the suite we stayed in. We had a refrigerator with freezer and microwave. At the end of the hall there is a comfortable gathering space with nice loveseat and chairs and dining table. There are only four rooms upstairs so we were the only couple in the gathering space most of the time. Coffee is provided. The owner is helpful with a willingness to answer questions about the area and give you tips on places to eat and routes you can take on your bike. The space was immaculate! |There is about 21 steps to get up to the second floor so that may be a disadvantage for some. No elevator. But we plan to stay here again when riding to...

Found this place while on a motorcycle trip with my wife. The owner, Pat, was awesome! The place was very clean, bed was great, coffee in the morning and biker friendly. Pat also had some great suggestions on where to eat & drink that night and the next morning, right next door for breakfast. It was raining the next morning, I got a call from Pat letting me know that if we needed more time to hang before checking out, that we were welcome to wait for the rain to end if we needed. If you’re riding, looking for a great place to stay, we highly recommend the Ironhorse Inn....
