So a buddy and I decided we were going to bike 100 miles using the path from Fountain MN to Houston MN. The first day we biked from Lanesboro to Fountain and back (22 miles). Saturday we biked from Lanesboro to Houston and back (65 miles). Sunday we biked toward Fountain then took a branch path south for 14 miles round trip. 101 miles all together.

Some things you should know. It is downhill all the way from Fountain to Houston. We didn't know that. The grade biking west is not steep, but it is uphill.

Food at Pedal Pushers Cafe was excellent! I would go there again in a heartbeat. Way above average for a small, rural town. We also went to breakfast at a cafe just a half block NE of Pedal Pushers, which I also recommend.

The bike path is good from Fountain to about 15 miles to Houston. After a point the bike path has scattered roots that make the ride bumpy, but it's not terrible. The South branch bike path was also bumpy but rideable. Absolutely...

I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were pretty good. The fish was another matter. Without a doubt, the worst fried cod I have eaten. First, as the waitress placed the dish in front of me, an odor of raw, older fish didn't get the meal off to a good start. I don't know what type of coating they use when they fry fish, but it was tasteless. No seasoning in the batter, as far as I could tell. Also it was clearly overdone, which didn't help. I was unable to decide what the very dark chunk of something was on one piece of fish. I was very hungry, so I ate what I could, but it was so bad, I simply couldn't finish. I've eaten there before, so I am familiar how table service works. But the wait time for food is excessive, especially when the fish I ordered was horrible. Nasty. No wonder Pedal Pushers make you pay on ordering. Your stuck with...

Worst customer service in Lanesboro !

The had a sign at the front saying to wait to be seated - so we waited and we waited. Possibly 10-12 minutes. The restaurant was near empty. So we got seated by a waitress, and then we waited for another 15 minutes with no waitress and no water. When I went to ask what was going on, they said we needed to come to the front and order food. What ?? So that's what we ended up doing. Another 20 minutes to actually get food. We got chicken fingers and a California burger, both mediocre at best.

We never saw the waitress at the table after that , but we saw her goofing with the other help by the kitchen.

If your looking for somewhere to bring the family to be ignored by a bunch of high school and college kids, this is the place for you.

Personally, we will...

Fantastic food! I had the brussel sprouts which were perfectly crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. The flavor was great. The salmon bowl was a nice serving size and delicious. The purple sauce that came with the salmon bowl was so good! I'd love to know what the flavorful ingredients were but forgot to ask! The Cry Baby Craig's habenero garlic sauce was available on the table - nice touch - and I added it to the cole slaw, which was very good. I would eat here regularly if I lived in Lanesboro! Cute place. Nice to sit outside to eat and I loved using the QR code to place my food order. I was really glad the staff told me about using that option to place my order. Great job Pedal Pushers!
