I really enjoyed this tour for about 3/4 of it. It felt like too much time was wasted seeing the old church that had nothing to do with the Amish, except the q&a session there. I would've preferred skipping that and just using the time to see more Amish places. You could hand out maps to that church and any other interesting non-amish related things and mention it instead of visiting it. It would be more interesting to see the inside of one of the Amish schools we passed by. There should be a time limit mentioned for each place and we should be given a list of the places with the schedule of what we will see or do and where we will be going to so there is some organization and anticipation, and we can plan out how we want to spend our money. It would be good to explain that when we go into Fanny's house that it's not her new house we will be seeing but the old one and that we aren't touring the whole house, just the downstairs shop, kitchen and sewing/game room. I had the impression we would be seeing all of the house as you said she was opening her house up for us to see. Also, It would be nice if we were told in advance that there wasnt time for multiple carriage rides and that only 1 or 2 rides could be given and with limited seating...I think if carriage rides are being offered, we should be given a time limit for the rides and allow for anyone who would like to do it as well as be able to see the shop. We should be able to go inside the store first and come out and be able to ride the carriage instead of finding it being put away. There wasn't time to do both. So I think you should allow for more time at this Amish stop and the bakery which has the bakery and a shop next to each orher and a line of people. You should mention where the rest room stops are also. This could be a great tour with a little more organization. It would also be great if your tour went to an Amish auction or if they sold their fruit and veggies, eggs and milk somewhere if we could have a chance...
Read moreI’ve been on this tour twice already and will probably continue taking it again in the future.
It’s great to have tour guides who have strong connections with the Amish community here in Lanesboro and surrounding towns. You’ll learn more from taking the tour than from reading books and doing google searches because that information is not always specific to the Amish community here and in these times. In addition, the Amish members we visit on the tour will gladly answer any additional questions we have for them.
The tour includes stops at their at-home markets where you can purchase baked goodies and other items like furniture and quilts. I love that we have time to shop because we can support those families who open their homes and farms to us.
Thank you Jeff and Gina for a...
Read moreWent on a tour earlier this year and it was horrible. Our guide always was talking about selling feed and never really talked about the Amish. He could NOT answer any questions that were asked of him. He could NOT tell us if we could even take pictures. Luckily we ran into another tour company also based out of Lanesboro, I believe it was R M Amish tours, and the lady that was the guide answered any question that we asked of her. I wish I would have went with her instead, her group looked like they were having a lot of fun. I think the owner of Bluffscape need to talk with there employees and make sure they understand there job and what is expected of them. We were very displeased about a tour that we had to pay so much for and...
