I have to say, Don Laughlins is a part of history and to be respected but it is NOT what it used to be. Maybe I’m getting old((only in my 30s))but truly, makes me sad. The biggest complaint I have is similar to others. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE (major lack there of) AND THE AIR VENTILATION THROUGHOUT the Casino/property!!! I mean, Come on!! So Smokey!! We are from Vegas and I brought my 3 kids and I out for a little vacation during their spring break. We enjoy feeling like tourist and doing the casino resort thing sometimes. We do it in town frequently. But Laughlin, this was our first time, so let me get to it. Overall, we had a blast together and made so many beautiful memories!! I have many of memories when I was a child in Laughlin as well. I wanted to share in that with them. First thing, Valet was alright, nothing to wooHa over. They took care of my car and the bell desk assisted with luggage, as per normal stuff. Check in was smooth, Rebecca, you go girl! Great personality, was not bothered or phased by others, knew her job and facts, very efficient. Being that I have 5+years in Hotel/Resort Industry (personally), she’s a keeper. 👏🏼 The room was great! & For the price! I mean, can not beat it. Not outdated not luxury but nice. We stayed in the North tower, 21st floor, it was clean, simple, clean beds, great view, felt safe, had the basic amenities, plus some shampoos/blow dryer/mini fridge (you can not open the slider for the record, Even though they say balcony, lol) We did have an issue with the AC when we got in there, but Troy K, with maintenance came through and was determined to handle business, he got into another room, turned a knob, cold air was there, YES! He was such a gent and had a great attitude. He was a person to remember as well. As the kids kept saying “Troy for the W”, (&& that’s a good thing🤷♀️)). The gentleman at the players club who stood about 6’2, (that had allergies) was very funny and personable! Thank you. Then there was the cafe worker, Curteese, i remember her bc of her very unique name and because she was kind and attentive. I thanked her for being One of only a handful of people in the 3 days we were there that treated us as though WE MATTERED! Considering how much money I just spent in Laughlin!!! Ning in the 3rd floor gift shop (car show area) was the only person to bring up having a players card and the perks and rewards etc. (thankfully I know that stuff already, but that sucks to be folks whom have no clue what they are missing out on and how many people that did not bother with bring it up INCLUDING FATBURGER..side note, I didn’t realize, I could’ve saved 10% on my $75 worth of food and yes, I still tipped them, that’s sad. And lame. To the lady working the register, You seen me there with my kids!!) anyways Ning had such a great personality, very nice to my children and I, and truthfully I really wanted to put her in my pocket, I loved her. Also, to be noted, the family pool is SHITTY!! What a waste of good space!! Advice, Invest in that area too!
I’m not saying everyone was shitty. Bc from the Craft fair, Arcade, Bowling, Hotel, operators, etc there were nice peoples. Though I never came across anyone on the Casino floor, security, cocktail waitress, or any bartender at the 3 bars I popped over at, that were kind or hospitable.
The overall feel was, “you’re not a familiar face so you don’t matter(or you don’t have $ in my eyes so you don’t matter), Gatekeeping(no one wanted to fill you in), and shroud folks who didn’t wanna be at work” it was disappointing. I teach my children to be kind. To be gentle. To be tough. To remember everyone has a story. So if you were having a bad day when we crossed paths, I am sorry. But life and Hospitality doesn’t stop for anyone. I know I treat you right. I Tip. I always Give grace. So I expect some type of smile or “Thanks for Coming In”. Not even at check out, yes I went to the desk to get a closed paper copy, was there even a “have a good day”. Do better Don Laughlin Hotel Casino. He would...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to stay at the Riverside Resort for our Anniversary. We usually go to Vegas but wanted to try something different. We had to wait a bit to check in since the line was long. We got up to our room and got settled. The room lighting is very dark and it was in the evening so I could see the room very well but it looked ok. The tv had something on it that looked like someone spit on the tv which was gross. The next morning the light from the patio was shining in the room and it was then I could see it wasn’t spit it was VOMIT. On the dresser, the tv and the walls. Like someone just puked and or spit everything in their mouth. How this made it past the housekeeping is beyond me. So we got dressed and went downstairs to complain and all they would offer was to have the room deep cleaned. No change of rooms and no comp on the room just a deep clean. So I said if that’s all I can get then please deep clean it. We came back to the room after several hours and you could see bits still stuck on the walls, and you could tell it was barely wiped off the dresser like they wiped it with a dry rag. They sprayed something that smelled good on the carpet, that’s about it.
The bed was so firm and uncomfortable that I woke up in pain and unable to move. I thought maybe it’s because I weigh more but my wife could barely sleep from how hard the bed was and said if the carpet was clean she would have slept on the floor!
Half of the elevators were not working. The numbers were random and you never knew what floor you were on. The insides of the elevators were dark and the floor on one of them had a big sag in the middle which made you feel like you were going to fall through it. More then once we had to wait over 5 minutes to get in the elevator and they had lines around the corner at times.
I have never in all my years of gambling played somewhere that didn’t win anything not even a quarter. I played a wheel of fortune game that with $20 playing minimum bets and max bets and nothing not a single quarter.
The only good experience we had was at the adults only pool. This place is kid friendly so there was a lot of kids there but they have a pool you can go to that has no kids and it was a nice pool and the area was clean.
I was not impressed with this experience at all and for having such a high rating I thought it would be a good stay but it was very disappointing to...
Read moreAfter my Dad passed away in 2002, I have tried taking my mother to Laughlin at least once a year. It was one of their favorite places to go, so the trip means so much to her. Plus, it is not that far of a drive for us; we live in the California High Desert.
I usually take Mom to the Edgewater because Dad used to take her to the Colorado Belle and Edgewater. I wasn’t able to take Mom last year because she fell very ill for most of the year, and we also had a difficult time visiting during the pandemic. I wanted this year to be a little more special since I don’t know how much more time I will have with Mom, she is close to 90.
This year I chose to take her to Don Laughlin’s Riverside instead of Edgewater because they had an incredible rate for what I was looking for. We stayed on March 13th through the 16th and we were able to get a very good rate for the upscale rooms. Mom was a little hesitant because it broke tradition of staying at Edgewater.
All of her hesitation changed once we got there. This was, hands down, our best Laughlin trip ever. Nothing against the Edgewater, but this was just a wonderful stay for a number of reasons. I am a big guy who loves to eat. Ask my wife, its a full time job keeping me fed- The Riverside Restaurant kept me well fed the entire trip. Mom and I ate all our meals there and I was never disappointed.
The weather during our trip was a little rough for the desert so we didn’t get to travel around Bullhead and Laughlin like we usually do, but there was plenty to do inside to keep us entertained. We checked out the car show and a few other things.
Saving my best comment for last- Mom likes to play video poker. I gave her a couple hundred and told her to have fun. I prefer to play Blackjack. I am not very good at it, but it’s the best way to lose money. All told, I probably spent about 15 hours playing Blackjack (not all at once). I played a couple hours here and there throughout the stay. EVERY dealer was a pleasure to play with. They held great conversations and made the whole experience a pleasant one. I probably lost a total of $700 during that time, but it was money well spent. Met some good people from all over while I played, and really hated to stop.
So, if God grants me another year with Mom, we will be coming to Riverside again next year. Hell, I would like to go again this year if I can get the...
