We chose to eat at this restaurant on Saturday, June 3, 2023 after seeing the high Google star ratings. We were disappointed; especially with the service from our waiter and the cashier.
I ordered the Navajo taco, but, before I did, I specifically asked about the portion size and was told pretty enthusiastically that it was pretty large. When the Navajo taco arrived, not only was it very small, but it was extremely lacking. It consisted of a scone, a thin layer of chili, a small portion of lettuce, maybe some chopped tomatoes, and a couple small containers of salsa and a small container of sour cream. The quality and quantity was very poor compared to Navajo tacos from other restaurants and food trucks. When our waiter asked how I felt about it, I told him I was disappointed. I feel like he was offended with my answer because he was no longer friendly and avoided our table; only providing minimal effort towards us. For $15, the value just wasn't there. It's nothing like the loaded Navajo tacos from other places that have ample meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and olives.
Some of the other food seemed like a more reasonable value. We also ordered a breakfast meal, chicken meal, and a couple sandwich meals.
When we were ready to leave, we needed some boxes to take leftovers home. I asked for a small container to bring home some gravy from our breakfast meal. The waiter tossed the container to the table and turned around and left. It was just a really weird experience. Quite shocking and rude actually.
Finally, when we went to pay, the cashier asked how everything was. I told her that I was pretty disappointed with my Navajo taco and she said, "That's great!" and turned the screen around for me to enter a tip. I tipped generously because I believe in supporting wait staff. However, we don't anticipate eating at this restaurant again.
We ordered our food about half an hour before the restaurant was to close, so there is a possibility that they were scraping the bottom of pans to put my Navajo taco meal together. The staff were also pretty eager to close up for the day while we were eating.
I feel like the staff here needs to be trained to listen to their customers and learn to resolve issues rather than...
Read moreEdit: Going to try this place again during the morning shift to see if the last experience was a fluke.
We showed up for dinner service at 6PM on a Friday and it was not busy at all.
We started with a spinach artichoke dip appetizer. It was served with some kind of fried flat bread with parmesan sprinkled on top. There was a pretty heavy taste of fryer oil in those chips and the dip itself just tasted like a bland melted cheese. Not much going on there.
For our main courses, my friend had the meatloaf with corn, mashed potatoes, and gravy. The meatloaf was very salty and didn't have a lot of flavor going on. The gravy was too salty. The corn tasted like water, like it was some canned corn, but somehow made worse. No flavor at all.
I had the eggs Benedict served with hash browns. The hollandaise sauce was just salty and lacking any other kind of flavor. The entire thing was unpleasant. The hash browns were fine and they were crispy which is nice.
We also ordered a scone and that just tasted like old fryer oil. Only took a couple bites before setting that aside too. Our plates were full of uneaten food because nothing was good. We opted to not take any leftovers with us.
As for the restaurant itself, it feels a little dated inside, but not gonna knock any points for that. The part that was annoying was that we were being swarmed by flies for the entirety of our visit.
Service was wonderful. Our waitress (named Sam maybe? I don't remember) was really kind and stayed on top of everything, very attentive. Great service.
Maybe the experience would be better in the morning when there are different cooks working, but this was so bad that I don't have any desire to come back and give this place another shot, especially considering how our bill was $51 for an appetizer and two mains, quite expensive. I would honestly just drive the extra 2 minutes and go to Sill's or Black Bear if I'm looking for...
Read moreI recently ate at rambling roads for the first time. This would be my second visit and we went for dinner. I was really excited because the first time I went I went for breakfast. I decided I would try the chicken fried chicken because if done properly that is one of my most favorite things. I got that with mashed potatoes, corn and a salad. The salad was nothing to write home about. Honestly. Could have probably done better if I just went to Smith's and grabbed a cheap bag of iceberg lettuce on the cheapest blue cheese dressing they had and some cheap croutons. So not good. Not bad, just blah.. however, I did choose brown gravy. I was somewhat hung because I usually go white gravy. However, their brown gravy was just that right amount of salty and had a very good, strong flavor. It worked extremely well with the mashed potatoes. Now we go to the chicken fried chicken. Whoever was in the kitchen that day was clearly on their a game. Probably the second best chicken fried chicken I've ever had and I eat out a lot. I was completely stuffed and still sad when the plate became empty. Probably a good thing I could have eaten until I was absolutely miserable. Heck, if they would have brought me a second plate I probably would have chow down on it too. I would have left a very miserable individual with a very big smile on my face. This is so good! If you haven't eaten there, do yourself a favor and do eat there. Do it do it do it.....
