I use to love going to Osaka because of how friendly and fast the service used to be. Lately, Osaka sushi has not been accommodating to its customers. Their lack of care and concern for their customers is visible. At times they get so angry and yell if a new customer would accidentally wear their shoes in their sit-down booth. A gently prompt would do, not to embarrass anyone. On many occasions, I have encountered and witness this situation, they should ask politely when customers don’t truly know, kindness would have been preferred. Then the inconsistency with orders is not acceptable. If you place an order it would have to be one time. If you order again you might not get it until an hour later. That’s what I was told on many occasions, it's shocking! If they are that busy they should not take any more customers or get more help! Their online order sucks! They have me waiting 30 more minutes after my pick-up time and then tell me that it will not be ready for another 20 minutes due to their computer error. That’s not my problem, but it became my problem. Asking me to come back when I live 25 minutes away, not considerate at all. Knowing that I waited there beyond my wait time just to tell me that I have to keep waiting an additional hour and 20 minutes is not acceptable.
I know their lack of care for their customers will affect their business. If they don’t improve their customer's service skills, and learn how to values people’s time they will end up losing lots of their regular customers. There’s always seems to be a miscommunication cap between their servers and their chefs. When asked who’s responsible, nobody knows! who wants to be blamed? so then again the customers suffer!
I usually don’t care and don’t complain because I understand they are busy and needed more help. I know restaurant life can be demanding, however, I can also take my business elsewhere. I also value my time, they may be the gem in Layton, but it’s not the only sushi place in the area. Tataki sushi in Clinton has the best service and their sushi is also amazing! I'm so glad I...
Read moreUPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 Our latest experience here was MUCH LESS THEN FAVORABLE..!! Don't come here when it's close to closing time...EVER..!! We came with our great Friends. 1/2 price Tuesday. We ordered a massive amount of sushi, which, as always, was Superior. Our Server was LESS THAN ATTENTIVE. She kept stating that she had to leave because she had to drive Home TO TOOELE. Quite honestly, not Our problem..focus on YOUR JOB. She suggested this God Aweful $25 roll that was virtually all fried shreaded potatoes nothing much else. Our saki (purple haze) came to us Luke warm, not hot like it should have been. Then we noticed one of the Owners walking to our table - asking to close out our check. We literally just got our sushi and were in the middle of eating..VERY RUDE. He said they were closing and he had to close us out..as everyone was putting chairs on tables and making lots of unnecessary noise...PISSED US OFF..!! We were going to leave a $ 40 tip (our check was $ 172). But because of the rudeness of the Owner, the lackluster service, they only got a $20 tip..which I thought was too much. My Wife let both of the Owners know how she felt and it's going to be a VERY LONG TIME, (if at all) before our next visit. The behavior of the Owner was inexcusable and rude. You should be treated the same, whether it's opening or closing time. Not a good way to treat frequent Customers ..!!
This was our 1st visit to Osaka Sushi.
Our Server, Sly, was VERY HELPFUL when we mentioned it was our first time. She assisted us with the menu. Pointed us in the right direction, and our dining experience began.
The Specialty Roll menu is vast but, appealing. We started with Chicken Sobayaki. Delicious. Had some edamane and then our rolls came out. Sunset Blvd and Sunshine. Both were very fresh, flavorful and well worth the $.
We would highly recommend both "Osaka" AND "Sly". Both...
Read moreI have no reason to rate this restaurant. I'm determined to only give one rating less than 5 stars (1 star) and that was my junior high. But I ran into a delivery problem here. I can drive here from my house in under 25 minutes. I was here for a catering order for Door Dash (I usually drive around Ogden, but for catering orders, I can drive as far south as Spanish Fork, although I have only driven as far as Provo) on a day I was asked to clean the house. So I stopped along my way to check something to make it there by 1728 (I didn't talk like that military time there). The waitress said that it wouldn't be ready until 1748 (she really said "five forty-eight P.M." or "five forty-eight"), so I expected it to be ready by then. I said "five twenty-eight to five forty-eight" was when I was supposed to be there. I went back to my car. I went back in at 1738 and they reminded me about the time it would be ready. They got my phone number to call when it would be ready. At 1748, I marked the order as picked up, although it wasn't really. They finally called me about 10 minutes later and told me to pick it up. This was my first time at this restaurant for work. Now, usually when I get a catering order, and I'm there 20 minutes before the latest pickup time, the food is already ready. They could have at least said 5:50 and it would be a little more honest. As I told her at 1743, I don't like putting it off to the last minute. I wonder why online it says delivery is unavailable? This happened almost 3 days ago. I can say that the customer was more friendly. He said he didn't hear his phone ring when I got there, and sent a $25 tip for $88 food. Like I said, in comparison to Lyft, that Lyft doesn't pay that much. I usually have to drive south of the airport to get $40 (I almost only got $38) for Lyft from around Ogden.
The point being, if they tell you a time to pick up the food, it's probably an...
