An update to the reply left here on my main email, Furst Banks, and on air bnb since I can't respond to replies on Google Reviews:
1.) You never called them mountaineering boots, you regarded to them as ski boots. Never once did Leslie the owner ask us to not wear our mountaineering boots inside, you specifically asked us to not wear our Ski boots inside, which they weren't and you're wrong. Also, "heavy duty" s you called them in the air bnb review you left, you do realize La Sportiva G tech have the same rubber soul (vibram) as Hoka trail runners right? So you were wrong about calling them ski boots, deflected accountability, then tried saving face & tried calling us liars by saying you asked us not to wear mountaineering boots inside LOL. Just admit you're wrong and take accountability on that one. Especially when literally everyone else was wearing shoes inside, with rubber souls, just like our boots.
2.) "They mostly kept to theirselves" on the air bnb review then complaining we didn't say something about the dog? Which one do you want? Us to stay to ourselves or bring up an issue? Also, let me lay this out very flatly. If there are 2 units and 0 cameras in the common area where the bikes go & someone gets reported for beating their dog, who do you think they're going to think did it? Bingo! You got the right answer, the other unit! Why would we risk getting them kicked out and having them mess with our car/slashing our tires when we were literally the only people who could've possibly known? We did what you wanted in your air bnb review right?"most kept to ourselves"
And it's easy to sit there now and say "oh they wouldn't of messed with your car." But how do you know that? You think that's below the man beating his dog? Lol right.
Also, when didn't we keep to ourselves? The only time we came inside to the main unit was, 2 showers, bathroom by the back door, grab snacks from the fridge or to do our laundry. We didn't once sit on the couch upstairs, made 0 food in the kitchen, I think the only time I sat on the couch downstairs was waiting for my girlfriend to finish both of her showers. When exactly did we not "keep to ourselves?"
Is it a hostel with common areas or a place where we "need to keep to ourselves?" What a disgusting thing to say because you lack accountability. Did you leave that on everyone else's review who sat in the common areas? No, of course you didn't.
3.) The dryer shouldve been a non issue in the first place and I'm sure we weren't the first one who complained about it.
You're review on air bnb is filled with lies. Never once did you say anything about "heavy duty mountaineering boots" but you did say "don't wear your ski boots inside." And then when told they weren't ski boots you said "are you sure? They look like ski boots"
✨️ if you had a problem with mountaineering boots, you should've came correct the first time instead of being ignorant and arrogant when...

This was my first time ever staying in a hostel, and to be completely honest I was nervous as heck about it. But the reviews of this place were great, and the price for the area couldn’t be beat, so I went for it… and I’m SO GLAD that I did!
This hostel is the most homey comfortable place to stay in the mountains. From the moment we walked in the door, we just felt at home. It’s not fancy, but it’s perfect in my opinion. There’s a large family room when you walk in, a big dining table, and a well stocked somewhat professional grade kitchen, and a few guest rooms on the first floor. In the basement there’s another large living room with a nightly fire in the wood burning stove, a pool table, and bunk rooms with shared bathrooms.
We were a group of 4 young adults, and rented a private 4 person bunk room with shared bathroom in the basement.
Let me tell you… the beds (in this hostel of all places) are one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on! Plus - they provided these super soft and perfectly warm but not hot alpaca (?) blankets that were awesome! Literally put it on my Christmas list. And the bathrooms were super clean, with three toilets and three showers with plenty of hot water.
Great mix of people, with ages ranging from older adults, families with young children, to young adults, with everyone coexisting perfectly. Quiet time began at 10pm (not a curfew, just quiet time) and everyone respected it.
As for the location, Leadville is a great spot to crash within 30-45min of the big fancy ski resorts like Copper Mountain and Breckenridge, but is also home to SkiCooper (which is the perfect local spot to ski away from the crowds and expense of the big resorts, we walked straight on to all lifts, and highly recommend it!) The town has enough to keep you happy, one grocery store as well as a bunch of great local restaurants.
And last but not least, the staff here is amazing. Shout out to Kent and Claire for making our stay so memorable. Kent checked us in and gave us a tour, and has a wealth of knowledge about the area, and is hilarious too. Claire was close to our age, and an awesome person to get to know.
So if you’ve made it this far in my review… what are you waiting for? Just book...
Read moreThe stay was good for the most part. Be prepared to bring money to use their washer and dryer though, they cost $2.00 each. The dryer doesn't dry your clothes all the way. We spent the last night using the fan in our room to finish drying our clothes. The dryer looks like it's from 1990 so not surprised it doesn't fully dry a non overloaded load of laundry.
This part isn't really the hostels fault but the people in unit 12 over Thanksgiving were constantly fighting & beating their dog. Actually crazy hearing someone hitting their dog. Didn't feel comfortable bringing it up to the owner because she acted like we were a problem being there.
My girlfriend walked inside in her LaSportiva G Tech mountaineering boots and the owner, first time seeing her, didn't even say hi just said "uhh take off your ski boots"
Gf: they're mountaineering boots not ski boots
Owner: are you sure? They look like ski boots
Gf: yes, pretty sure.
We spent $1300 between her G Tech and my Aequilibrium Tops, pretty sure we would know if we bought ski boots. My girlfriend corrected the owner by explaining they were mountaineering boots and ever since that interaction didn't say a word to us, made it super awkward and just not friendly after that. Walked out the front door as she was standing there as we were leaving and just stared at us. Didn't say bye, ask us how our stay was, nothing. Just super awkward.
If you, the owner, were trying to make us feel unwelcomed in Leadville, you surely accomplished that singlehandedly.
It was just an awkward stay, from the owner being weird, the guy beating his dog and having to dry our...
